3 biggest plays you've seen in your time as a Cowboys fan

I don't remember which one you mean, but I do remember in '94 against New Orleans L. A. ran down a Saints player that had either intercepted a pass or picked up a fumble and was running down the sideline with it. I thought that was amazing, that he could do it and would do it, when no one would expect him to, being over 300 pounds.

that might have been the one - it sounds "right". i just don't have a play for "memories" like some people seem to. :)

i just remember going "oh holy hell we got us a good one!" on a play that i think this is it.

...this was the beginning of Madden's man love for Allen. He replayed that over and over again that year to show how good Allen was. Allen has crossed the field and was the first Cowboys to pull him down.

That play won that game. Winning that game told me that the Cowboys were for real.

early on in larry allens career he was like 20 yards downfield still blocking on one play - anyone remember the details?

How about the play, I believe LA made where he ran down a CB (May have been D.Sanders when he was a Falcon) after Aikman got picked. He saved a TD.

now, I'm going on memory here so I may be wrong.

That's the play!. Madden was the comentator and made a big fuss over it. LA's rookie season.

Madden may have made a big fuss about it, but it was on MNF, so the commentators were Al Michaels, Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf.

I started following the team in 1975 and will only count plays I saw live

First hand off from scrimmage 1995 against the Giants, TD for Smith. Showed the NFL we wanted the trophy back.

Comeback against Atlanta, TD pass to Pearson I believe to win the game

Julius Jones TD to win in Seattle two years ago, I saw the entire hole open and knew once he broke the line he was in

My account of the details seem to be lacking as I get older.

Actually I remember it was Madden goshing about Allen, who was the sub for Erik Williams after he got hurt in the car crash. Allen was a rookie playing tackle for the first trime. That game was played on Saturday, December 10, 1994. Check the link below.

Nope. It was December 19, 1994. You misread the schedule. We played the Browns on December 10, a game on NBC broadcast by Dick Enberg and Bob Trumpy IIRC. Novacek was stopped at the goaline as time expired as the Browns pulled out a 19-14 upset. Larry Allen ran down Darion Conner, a New Orleans Saint in a 24-17 Cowboy victory. This game was also notable for Emmitt injuring his hamstring in a scary-looking injury. It would hamper him the rest of the season.

I'll stick with the postive plays and try a few different ones.

How about Robert Newhouse's TD pass against Denver? I thought he was going to fall over the way he leaned back to throw it.

Testeverde's TD pass in the final minute to rip the heart out of the Skins that had manhandled the Dallas offense all day. Offensively we were horrid but managed to pull it out. (Just another fun game in the rivalry.)

Danny White's come from behind game winning TD pass against Atlanta in the '80 playoffs. At the time I thought Danny was going to be the answer at QB. Unfortunately everything else was starting to unravel.

Negative moments:

Jackie Smith

"NO Danny!!!"

Santana Moss (Twice)

For me....

1. Jerry Rice's TD called back for penalty(away from the play.. wahhh.... Steve Young).... that changed the game... I think we would have gotten hammered....

2. NFC Title game vs. Packers on way to SBXXX.... that back and forth scoring of TD's was such a roller coaster ride for me... FULL, ALL OUT PUMPAGE!!

3. Neil O'Donnell throwin ball TWICE to Larry Brown. We lose that SB if not for those plays. We handled them in 1st half and they handled us in 2nd half(when it really counted) and we almost did a McNabb of sorts. Ch-choke.

The play before the hailmary Preston Pearson up on the left side line on fourth down to keep the drive alive. That was actually a much better play.

I don't recall the play you've listed above but perhaps you are confusing it with the 4th down conversion to Drew Pearson on that final drive. That truly was a classic play. Staubach & Pearson could practically run that play in their sleep and execute it perfectly. It was right sideline if you're on offense.

He is right. The play was an out rout to Drew that coverted a 4th down into a 1st which kept the drive alive and lead to the Hail Marry pass.

On a sad note you may recall that Fran Tarkenton's dad died of a heart attack on that same day as the Hail Mary.

If you think The Catch is difficult for a Cowboys fan to stomach, imagine having Tarkenton's memory of that fateful Hail Mary day.

I remember that now that you mentioned it and I did feel for him. Fran was a good guy. Another thing I regreat on that play was the fact that the offical was hit by a bottle or some flying object as the play was happening. I was very glad that Drew was able to make the catch and get into the endzone because it moved Dallas to the next round aginst the Rams and right before the Rams game my Dad told me we had SB tickets. Thank God Dallas routed the Rams in a blowout, I don't think I could have handled the stress of another tight game

:star: Rockets first game as a cowboys. Came back to beat the skins. Alvin Harpers touchdown against the winers nfc championship. Super bowl 27.

1. Montana to Clark
2. Aikman to Harper (the slant)
3. Emmitt's game against the Giants in the Meadowlands in 1993

:star:
