Cutting a guy we just gave a $10MM contract to was never a serious option. Not to mention, we're not cutting a guy we're relying on as a spot-starter over a DWI.

People don't really want to cut him because of this incident, anyway. He's just destined to be a whipping boy because they didn't like the signing in the first place.

He's still valuable as an insurance policy incase one or more rookies need more time before getting a lot of snaps.

I may of not cared for the signing, but cutting him when almost all of the secondary is under 25 is a tad too hasty.

If everything goes to plan we won't need him next year, but for now he has some value as a vet in a very green secondary.

He was insurance anyway. We drafted 2 corners early and a safety. Also have brown scandrick. He'll make the team but we have a young db's ready to step up....hopefully

No sense in cutting him.

But it'd be a riot to see them do it while enthusiastically entering the Prescott era.

It's not a good idea to cut him.

They can keep him at 1 year, 4M or cut him at a cost of 3M.

There are team options for years 2 and 3.
think they will cut him after the romo money comes back to the cap.

Is Carroll a guy who has had any off the field problems before ?
If not, I would be inclined to keep him - just his vet. presence alone is reason enough. Spot starter if needed, older (maybe not wiser) vet who can at least mentor all the newbies for at least a year.
No need to make him the whipping boy just yet...
