I didn't like the signing, I simply don't rate him but my concern bodes more from the feeling of a slack culture in the clubhouse.

whether its just my perception I don't know but our players are making DUMB decisions on what seems like a weekly basis

Before June 1 it would be a 1m cap hit. After June 1 we actually save 1m. Hes already counting 2m against the cap. If he's cut the 1m base isn't guarantee and the 3m bonus hits all at once before June 1. So it would be a 1m cap hit. After June 1 they can spread it out and we save 1m.
That's basically irrelevant. They would be spending 3M in real and cap dollars with no player.

When the 3M hits does not matter. They're already getting cap space from Romo's cut on June 1st.

If you have money in the bank, then you make a decision on how much to spend on a trip to Vegas based on how much it is worth to you, not on when you get paid.

If you live paycheck to paycheck then the decision making critera is different.

The Cowboys have "money in the bank" in terms of the cap (actual cap money and contracts that can be restructured).

I agree but cutting him wouldnt be a huge issue. Imo I would. Its not going to hurt you and really won't help as far as cap goes so I'd cut him. But you're talking to someone who has been through a lot of **** the past 20 months because of a drunk driver lol I really have no sympathy for them. If you can save 1m in cap space and get rid of a guy who got a dwi, it's a win win for me. Jmo.

I know it. Philly asked too much from him and he simply didn't hold up to being asked to play like one of the best corners in the league.

He isn't.

Dallas will ask much less from him and he should more than suffice for what the team wants him to do.

Even with his poor(ish) 2016, SI.com on their list of top free agents this year said that Carroll was "the only defensive back in Philly that could cover."

Fans on here use words like awful, terrible, etc. to describe his play... and that is way off base. Was Philly ready to move on in the secondary? Yeah, just like Dallas was ready to move on from Carr and Claiborne... I get it... but Carroll is not a bad player. He's not great either though. He is what he is: A cog that can help and provide veteran leadership to the defensive backfield.

I surprised that Carroll's 2014/2015 seasons (which were quite good) are discounted by so many.

His contract is for the 2017 season when it starts, this June 1st deadline has nothing to do with this season.
That would come into play next year.
Hmmm. Over the cap has it as a 1m cap savings for post June 1 and 1m cap hit for before June 1. Although the season hasn't started the league year has. Maybe I'm wrong and over the cap is too.

DAL actually saves 117k with his suspension........ 2 games out of 17 = 2/17ths of 1m base salary that gets rebated in cash in cap charges

His 3m signing bonus was guaranteed...... he isn't getting cut without even practicing

But June 1st rules still do apply....... you have it correct

3m cap charge if he is cut tomorrow........1m extra hit
1m cap charge if he is cut June 2nd but he would have 2m in dead money for 2018......1m in 2017 savings

the CBA is pretty clear........ 2 games for a standard DUI

if he gets off maybe he gets a game for shaming the shield
Maybe we should let it play out? Not saying you are wrong, just wouldn't want to jump to conclusions.
