Given I watched a lot of Eagles games up here in Philly, he was a bad CB.

The Eagles couldn't wait to dump him.

I second this sediment. I have watch every Eagirls game (when we aren't playing at the sane time and obviously rooting against them) and he just didn't play well at all. I was surprised we signed him.

this is what people do not get about roster mgmt.
this isn't neighbor john who can be fired at his job with no further salary owed.

you keep carroll and he misses 2 games you get that cap adjustment back --1/8 of his base salary for 2017. so his mistake costs him money and gives you more cap space.
you cut him, the NFLPA sues you for his entire salary since he was "in the program" and under a treatment plan.

people act like this isn't real punishment.
the guy is going to lose 125K in salary plus any fines he may face and legal fees he's incurring.
he also falls behind in a battle to win a starting job.
if he doesn't win that job he likely ends up cut anyway within 24 months and that time he enters free agency with a previous suspension and more age.

Earlier today on "Talk'n Cowboys", listening to Stephen Jones talk about the situation, he didn't sound like a man inclined to cut bait with Carroll.
Stephen also relates to the alcoholics. My boy had to drive he a lnd his wife home from dinner in Oxnard. Stephen went to his hotel there, and he had to drive wifey back to Beverly Hills. She was passed out drunk in the backseat. Lol

No sense in cutting him.

But it'd be a riot to see them do it while enthusiastically entering the Prescott era.

Might be the best 3 million Jerry ever spent. About time they send a message...Especially after the Josh Brent ordeal. You would think the one team that wouldn't put w/ that after that....would be us. But no....We gotta enable everybody. I'm starting to think to be the "right kind of guy" means you gotta have a police record. Anybody do a background check on Garrett?

This was a live video podcast at the Star in Frisco. Stephen was quite sober and on the record, thank you.

Lol well, it would be but I wont say it for you. And I never said replace him with a vet. Like I said before, it's really not a issue if he stays or goes. Its not going to help or hurt tt he cap. Imo, I'd cut him. Again, my opinion on drunk drivers is different than others because of my situation. Jmo.
If you cut everyone that has driven while over the 0.08 limit, then half or more the team would be gone.

Carroll just happened to get caught.

What is the backstory on the person that hit you?
White collar or blue collar?
Criminal history?
Age?
Smoker?
Were they driving their own car?
Car older than 10 years?
Etc..

nothing you said is untrue but none of it follows logically either.

claiborne and carr each count 5m on the cap this year alone. carroll will count 2m on our cap.

carr and mo are gone so they can't compete for a job.
carroll has to beat out 1 of OScan, Awuzie or Anthony Brown.

richard sherman isn't coming here and never was. we don't have the money to pay him and we've altered our defensive schemes to be far more cb friendly.
we are a very young team that doesn't need to pay age and past success.
we need to keep the ol as in tact as possible and prepare to pay dak/zeke.

Possibly 2-3 rookies starting in the secondary... sounds like hope and luck is our plan back there.
sherman is still a top 5 DB and would provide instant credibility there and might even pick off a pass or three. I trust we could find a way to pay him.
I love our rookie DB class, but if it works out well this season it will be despite the plan not because of it.
Btw, Carroll is terrible, if he starts then I expect we will have to win shootouts.

You sure sounded like it for a second. Honest mistake.
Seriously? How does my noting my opinion of Stephen's words in a podcast sound like I'm his lawyer? It's clear some people don't have much regard for the Jones's because they are rich and some just hate rich people in general, make wise cracks about them at ever opportunity. I find it pathetic and disgusting to discriminated by class like that. Displaying class warfare behavior on these pages should be thwarted by the moderators. Why is it okay that many of you out there have appreciation for your favorite libation but when the Jones's do it they are "sloshed" and "alcoholics" in your opinion? The criticism was NO "honest mistake", it was intentional, malicious, and bigoted.

I'm sure it's been said, but in case it hasn't

Grow up. He won't be cut and you'll accept it.

Carroll winning one of the outside CB slots is a bad sign.

Or it means that he played well. He has had good years in the league. Now that he is no longer in Schwartz's press man scheme perhaps he can once again.

I'm all for making criminal punishments more severe for DWI but outside of work where driving is part of the job I don't see it as a reason for dismissal.

It's not a good idea to cut him.

They can keep him at 1 year, 4M or cut him at a cost of 3M.

There are team options for years 2 and 3.
I agree, that he should have known better...but is it over reaction on our part because of Gregory and McClain? he didn't have a history. he got paid handsomely and he apologized. I think its a knee jerk reaction by fans. on the other hand, I would cut greogy. I am done with him.

The harsher DWI penalties really hurts the poor more than the rich already

The 10k DWI is real and so is losing a license for 6 months without a conviction and the ability to get to work

There should be some kind of deterrent for the wealthy but I still can't see losing the right to make a living

Yeah "messages" work.

We see them work all the time with adults.

(Yeah right)
