3 rebuilds, 3 Super Bowls, while Dallas twiddles its thumbs in the dark

Those damn Eagles just did it yet again.

Andy Reid built a team with Donovan McNabb and a dominant defense went to the Super Bowl and ruled the division for a good while.

Then it was torn down.

Then Doug Pederson, Carson Wentz, and Nick Foles combined with a stellar defense and beat the mighty Patriots for the Eagles first championship.

Then that was torn down.

Now Nick Siriani, Jalen Hurts, and another stifling defense is in place with a very young roster, and they're headed to a third Super Bowl in 20 years. This group looks to be around for a long, long time, too, and they have a top10 pick waiting in April.

Meanwhile, Dallas continues to fart and fall down every offseason, no longer willing to go after anyone of significance in offseason free agency. It's either the offense is stacked with talent and the defense is a turnstile, or the defense is fairly stout but the offense can't block or lacks weapons.

The Eagles made key offseason moves, and it's paying off. Last year, the Rams did the same and won a Super Bowl. The year before, Tampa did the same and won a Super Bowl with Brady.

Philly now owns this division clearly, and here we are a big pile of gunk that isn't going anywhere anytime soon with this lot.

It's going to take a magical offseason of free agent moves to get this thing tuned for anything of significance going forward. That's hard with limited cap space, a middling QB making $49 million, and a list of players needing new deals. Pollard, CeeDee, Diggs, Micah, and a list of others.

Anything short of some huge signings - and I'm talking about Aaron Rodgers, Daron Payne, DeAndre Hopkins, Javon Hargrave type guys - and this will remain an effort in futitility.

They need to either go for it or blow it up. Because hope isn't a strategy, no matter how much they wish it was.

You mean that team we beat a few weeks ago?
The team that decided to go cover 2 on a third and 30, and have 1 DB back there, the DB letting Hilton waltz right past him? instead of cover 4, otherwise the game would have been over with a backup QB leading them. It any play call was proof of being rigged, this game was it.

This team is donezo until JJ and Co. give up the reigns of the Cowboys corporation. We are no longer a football team. We are but a mere spectacle. A clown show on wheels that goes on annual tours in varied cities across the U.S.

They will be active in FA. But it will be signing our own guys. It’s what they do.

I think they went into this season thinking we would take a step back but were surprised that we won 12 games. How could they not be? They went into the season with Lamb as a #2, Brown as a #4-5, and MG not even playing.

Everything you have written is true. But don’t kid yourself or anyone else on this board. They aren’t going to sign any major impact free agents. It’s legit been 10 years since they’ve signed one. Give it a rest.
Has anyone ever asked these two if Carr was the reason they act that way?

I can’t imagine they could be that gun shy over one bad signing.

Leonard Davis worked out well.

I liked a post that you just put in another thread which was

“Probably a wild card then the real season will begin.”

you seem to understand that the “real season” starts in the playoffs but than go right back to saying that the 2 games in the regular season are the real indicator of a teams strength……which is it?

Jerry and Stephen dont care

The Giants and the Eagles have both been to the Super Bowl 3x each since the last time we made it and they have yet to change how they run this team.
Why change?

ESPN will spend more time today talking about the Cowboys than either championship game.

The Pro Shop will be full of sheep in their jorts and stained Novachek jerseys buying up camo mugs, dog accessories, Charlotte-inspired lingerie for their misses.

Six months from now, said sheep will serenade this deranged man who has kept us in neutral for years with "JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!" chants as he woddles on to the field in Oxnard.

We are a disgrace but we allow it because we're a soft fanbase. Jerry has been allowed to treat this franchise like his personal toy for three decades. A fanbase like Philly would have ran him out a long time ago.

It's a number of things.

They haven't drafted QB higher than the 4th round since 1989. They completely lucked out on Romo (in fact, they were going to cut him for Hutchinson or Henson before Parcells straightened them out), and then they got convinced themselves they were geniuses with Dak on a throwaway comp pick at the end of the 4th round.

I think Stephen is the biggest problem. He understandably loves rookie contracts, and Will McClay is doing a good job on the picks in general. However, Stephen is more about being rich Jethro Clampett and protecting the family fortune than he is about winning championships. Stephen's never accomplished anything of note beyond living off daddy, and he's not about to risk losing a piece of that silver spoon.

Jerry is too threatened by being proven wrong in his own mind - everybody else knows he has been all along - and he's afraid of winning any way but his own. That's just the stubbornness of an old man staring in the face of his own mortality.

The roster is maxed and caught in a death loop unless they make MAJOR moves in free agency. If they don't, 2024 is already baked in.
