Just finished watching it. Do y'all feel we did right in passing him? Had we drafted him would it have elevated our offense to heights never before seen?

What's your take?

If that show is accurate, he got a bad rap and we should have taken him but given the chaos & all the crap that so many players on the Cowboys had gotten themselves into, I understand why they didn't take him. Plus, I'm not sure the climate of the team at the time would have allowed him to thrive. I think hooking up with Chris Carter was a great thing for him.

But it sure would have been fun to see what they could have done with him.

That Quincy Carter to Randy Moss connection would have been sweet.

Chan Gailey wouldn't have known what to do with him. He preferred smaller receivers. Moss would not have been able to handle the pressure of playing in Dallas.

so many factors to consider..

his prior history

aikman was in his twilight....who would have thrown him the ball?

mack brown telling jerry that greg was one the best people he ever coached...like a son..no character flaws.

randy was a one trick pony...but he was a great one trick pony.

greg was a consistent player for us.

i don't know.

Wasn't Aikman the QB when he was drafted?

yes but he was out a few years later thanks to father time and arrington.

not to mention the countless concussions he suffered over his career.

troy took a tremendous beating his first years in the league.

let's just say that moss fit better with randall and culpepper throwing him the ball at that time.

Yeah, Cunningham had an arm. They looked unstoppable in '98. The SB would've been very entertaining to say the least.

Troy took a tremendous beating his entire college and professional football career. The guy was tough as nails, but he also had many injuries over his playing career. Even when Dallas was winning games and playing well he would take a beating standing tall in the pocket. Arrington was the one that delivered the final concussion, but if he didn't someone else would have. It was just a matter of time.

he was tougher than nails..

that man got beat down so much before we got the great wall it was ridiculous.

that was before roughing the passer rules of today.

of course we don't get those calls anyway.

as soon as we fixed the o- line....super bowl victories started coming.

hopefully it is foreshadowing of what romo and gang will get this year.

Jerry even admits that passing on Moss still haunts him, but every other team that passed could say the same. It's really not that hard of a decision deciding between Ellis or Moss using hindsight. Moss may have extended Aikman and Emmitts careers.

In hindsight of course not. I just wished we beaten him at least once. Lol

With all due respect, I really didn't have much sympathy for Randy Moss. I can understand he didn't have the greatest upbringing, but he didn't have the worst either. He made some poor choices. And he tried to make racism the overwhelming issue when he hasn't experience anything more than any other black person (such as myself) who has been in a predominantly white setting. I experienced racism also, been called the N-word. But I didn't stomp a kid either.

Having said that, I applaud those who gave him a second chance. I also don't believe we need to discard our young people just because they've made mistakes in their lives.

And as much as I (we) wanted Moss to be a Cowboy, Irvin's situation made it virtually impossible that Moss would come here. But next to his NFL career, his enduring legacy is that every kid playing football echoes his name whenever he or someone else catches a pass over the opponent: "You just got MOSSED!"

Don't forget about scissor gate in 1998. Irvin stab Everette McIver with a scissor leaving a 2 inch gash.
In 1998, Irvin was not the mild manner Irvin we seen on the NFL network these days.

I don't think Irvin would have been a very good role model for Moss.
