It's called building the team from the lines out. The build started years ago. We tried to compete while undergoing a massive renovation - essentially a total gut job.

I want someone to go back and look at our running backs and offensive line starters from three seasons ago. Tom Landry himself couldn't coach Phil Costa into a legitimate starting NFL center. Let's not pretend like this team has been ready for double-digit wins since Garrett took over.

Or, lets, because it's easier to feed the agendas when you ignore reality. Ain't that a *****? Realists ignoring reality when it comes to the team!

Jimmy turned that mess he inherited around a ton quicker than Garrett has. He grabbed the right staff Immediately. He didn't try it "his way"
first than change only after he failed for several years.

No, Jimmy negotiated with Miami to get Dave Wannestedt as a bonus for giving Shula's son a chance to be an offensive coordinator. After he nearly lost Troy Aikman, Norv Turner was a 'last resort that agreed to take the Coordinator job, but had a great relationship with Troy, and an effective and simple passing system that ended up fitting Dallas to a T. It just wasn't magic of the magi when Jimmy arrived, but some accumulative luck.

Right. Somebody needs to provide a lil objectivity around here once the Red kool aid drunks get rambling on and on about how tough Red has had it.

He did have a point, in that Jason Garrett's type of team is what brought the packaged deal of Kiffin and Marinelli to the Cowboys. And the type of player desired waters Marinelli's scheme to the hilt. Not to mention an offensive line gained over the past four seasons...time with Garrett, that carries this team now.

No matter how jimmy did it he did it. JG tried to do it himself, that didn't work. He's on the right course now, let's hope it stays that way.

...and not to mention the Herchel Walker trade that Jerry negotiated...put the Jimmy pom poms down and enjoy what is before your eyes...NOW!

If comparing to another coach, start with Vince Lombardi, who never had a head coaching job with a losing record:

89-29-4 in the regular season and 9-1 in the playoffs.

Next, compare to Tom Landry.

Landry won 2 Super Bowl titles (VI, XII), 5 NFC titles, 13 Divisional titles, and compiled a 270-178-6 record, the 3rd most wins of all time for an NFL coach.

It's really amazing how much he's learned about coaching in just this one off-season.

I mean, the only other alternative is coming to terms with the idea that maybe the issue in Dallas was something other than coaching in the first place. And that getting a top-10 scoring defense actually does make a difference when it comes to the 5 games we lost by a total of 8 points with a bottom 3 defense last season. Who's to say? I guess we'll never know for sure.
Please get back on message. Now that we have a running game, Romo doesn't suck anymore.

Garrett is still part of the chemistry that seems to have found its way. Even if he isn't as hands-on in the game plan as he used to be (and I have a feeling that, largely, he still is), this team is still Garrett's, and has Garrett's philosophy.

He deserves credit. Just because he isn't the guy calling plays on offense and defense and out there throwing the ball and also rushing the passer and also sitting in Jerry's chair during the week unilaterally making all the personnel decision doesn't mean you can take away that he is the head coach of a team that some consider the best in the NFL right now.

This is true

I am enjoying the now. I'm just hoping it carries over to the future. One winning season is enjoyable, putting a product on the field that lasts would be more enjoyable.
Before I declare Garrett a great HC he needs to keep the product enjoyable. I don't care how Jimmy did it. He kept it going.

No, the team built kept it going, and Jimmy couldn't restrain the ants in his own pants for two Championship seasons before leaving...and then, for another signed on FOUR season period in Miami. What was his record in post season, with Miami?

That was a Larry Lacewell move..... not a Garrett move but Garrett did hold the door open and made them some coffee when they arrived........

Love the revisionist history from the Red homers.

The blind kool aid drunk Red homers act as if Jimmy had an easy road compared to Garrett. Jimmy inherited a 3-13 team and then had to start a rookie QB on a team that lacked talent. But poor Garrett, well, he inherited a team with a pro bowl QB, a TE headed to the HOF and one of the premier sack leaders in the NFL. And to top it off he had been the OC for the offense for several years prior so it was just a continuation of his established offense. But somehow he has fought his way thru 3 1/2 years of struggling with a massive rebuilding job to get to this point.

Its just so great that we have a better coach than Jimmy and the next Tom Landry in Red.

And we were a top scoring offense the entire time.

Also a qb, te and DE do not a team make.

Also remember that time when Bill Belichick was the best head coach in the NFL from day one? Yeah me neither.

It's just different. Both men have done well. Garrett had many more game losing miscues and after the Green Bay game last year I had enough but he rallied the team the following week, lost our leader on the field (Romo) saw his team decimated by injuries back to back years and now has maintained moral & rallied the guys again. Garrett has definitely been a major part of the draft and philosophy making the old team now young again, something Jimmy didn't face. The cap problems took time to reorganize, the NFL is championship proof with the cap/free agency to boot. Lots in the works with much work to do and results we expect to be determined. Rating....incomplete but I'm filled with anticipation each week and am in it form the long haul with Garrett.

Belichick started his head coaching career in Cleveland . Here are his 1st three seasons

1991...6-10
1992...7-9
1993...7-9

I love it when someone makes an argument without doing the research. Niiiiiice stuff, Show.
