49ers picked Cowboys' Trey Lance trade offer over Bills'​

The 49ers traded Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, keeping the third-year NFL quarterback in the NFC, though an AFC contender reportedly made an effort to acquire the former first-round draft pick.

The Buffalo Bills made an offer to the 49ers for Lance before San Francisco accepted Dallas' bid, The San Jose Mercury News' Cam Inman reported, citing a team source.

I have the feeling that Buffalo doesn't like Dallas too much.

I am a little surprised they would trade him to another NFC team.

Sure the offer was better but what about the long term ramifications of this deal working out for Dallas and this coming back to bite the 49ers?

Unless they are so down on him they don’t feel like he has any real chance at being successful?

It's probably that the 9ers feel this is a win-win for them.

Get a 4th rd pick from us.. .. AND plants a guy on our roster that is useless and will waste our coaches time and energy.

I’m not shocked at all because he has done nothing and a better pick is better for them. Lance will never see a meaningful game against the 9ers.

The guy is like 23 years old and started, what, 4 games? He's basically a rookie so yeah, right now his list of accomplishments is gonna be low. Someone saw something in him to give up 3 first round picks and we got him for a 4th. The upside is high, the risk is minimal. Great trade.

And someone saw something to cut bait and trade him for a 4th. I know people wanna be optimistic but here’s how this is likely to play out…it doesn’t.

What good was he doing staying on the roster? They already made the decision to roll with Purdy. Just keep him there and let him sit on the bench until his contact expires and he walks away and you get nothing? Something is better than nothing. All I'm saying is no one has seen enough NFL tape of this guy to declare him a bust. Of course, this is CowboysZone where we already have people declaring Mazi a bust so i guess i shouldn't be surprised.

I live in South Texas along the coast. I will experience a hurricane again.

Guess what? I'm not running to hide right now in denial. We just had 5" this past week and still 100 degree temps...so?

The Cowboys need arm talent in the QB room after Dak. TL has been oft injured during his stint in SF and never really had a chance to shine. If the Cowboys are unable to work out a deal with Dak at least they now have a QB who can zing the ball.
