Unless they are so down on him they don’t feel like he has any real chance at being successful?
That’s probably how they feel. When you move on from any player after only two seasons, especially one you traded the farm for you have to feel like they’re pretty hopeless.

Well our QB room is quite putrid. Putrid enough that the 49ers threw us a bone. Go figure.

It's probably that the 9ers feel this is a win-win for them.

Get a 4th rd pick from us.. .. AND plants a guy on our roster that is useless and will waste our coaches time and energy.
Good teams only care about getting better not about other teams .They took the better value proposition.

I think he's not the bust most think he is. I think he's a solid developmental backup for Dak.

Hard to evaluate a guy with 4 stars and a 2-2 record. The niners found their guy in Purdy after Lance's and Jimmy G injuries. The perfect bus driver that played in a similar type of offense in college. The learning curve for Purdy is less steep than Lance's.

If u mean the 9ers....I agree.

That's the mark of a great GM: maybe you swing for the fences (Lance) and miss...but you cut bait as quickly as possible and offload your dud on whichever team will be foolish enough to give you some sort of pick for your discarded trash (us in this case) and you MOVE ON. You don't languish for years...and waste a decade here...a decade there.

This makes no sense at all. We have a starter, a very solid back up what is the point of getting another back up QB. Another linebacker and a back up o-lineman would make sense right about now.
Dak already reached his ceiling. This trade is not for this year but for next and beyond. I doubt they traded for a former top pick 5 pick with less than 2 years of experience to replace their very capable back up QB.

So the Bills weren’t worried about emotional instability of their QB Allen or a fractured locker room. So I’m glad our team is treating Prescott as if he is a leader who can handle and lead this just like Josh Allen nearly had to. I’ve seen a couple posts about future locker room fractures. Nonsense… unless we aren’t a good enough team to handle this which would be a different problem. Now let’s pursue a Super Bowl.

I am a little surprised they would trade him to another NFC team.

Sure the offer was better but what about the long term ramifications of this deal working out for Dallas and this coming back to bite the 49ers?

Unless they are so down on him they don’t feel like he has any real chance at being successful?
Niners are going to be hating that draft pick forever. Some miracle where Lance becomes an elite NFL QB is wayyyyyyy down their list of concerns.

In all seriousness this was a good move for the Cowboys. They now have one of the best quarterback rooms in the NFL. A top 10 quarterback in Dak, a top 3 backup quarterback in Rush, and a 3rd string toolsy 23 year old that will have a season and an offseason to learn your system.
I read here at the Zone that this is a trade w equal to Herschel but this time we got robbed!

It’s not a zero sum equation. We can strengthen the QB depth and still do those things.

At best it could be a great trade because if Lance pops you have a franchise quarterback in his mid 20s. I hear some are afraid that he will sign a big contract outside of Dallas in two seasons. Hog wash, if he never gets into the games nobody is going to invest a big contract in him. Some YouTuber says the Cowboys can develop him and trade him. That makes no sense either if you have a mid 20s quarterback that can play you keep him and trade the old veteran.
