They have knocked us out the playoffs twice and he isn't close to starting. Just take the best deal.I am a little surprised they would trade him to another NFC team.
Sure the offer was better but what about the long term ramifications of this deal working out for Dallas and this coming back to bite the 49ers?
Unless they are so down on him they don’t feel like he has any real chance at being successful?
Good pointsIt may be an incorrect opinion but I consider Trey Lance a system type quarterback, who did not completely assimilate into the Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme.
Yes, Lance has been injured but Shanahan was diligent in making him the heir apparent to Jimmy Garoppolo. He witnessed Lance struggle somewhat after finally being named starter in the regular season BEFORE getting injured again. Then saw him struggled again with his system and falling further down the depth chart.
Perhaps Shanahan considered the pros-and-cons of continued investment in Lance? If that is correct, Lance has a new opportunity to (slowly) learn a new offensive scheme, or perhaps better defined as a newly taught one from a new teacher. Maybe Brian Schottenheimer can capitalize on Lance's unrealized potential where Shanahan could not.
The Niners inserted a self-destruct microbot within Trey Lance so, if the Cowboys should ever play San Fran while he's in the game, well ...I am a little surprised they would trade him to another NFC team.

Have you heard any coach or front office manager say of a quarterback "he sucked" as they showed him the door? Are people actually making that argument? I see people arguing that they 49ers are not happy at how this turned out because of how much they spent two year ago but not that he was a good player because of it.
There are plenty of quotes from Shanahan about this. He said that he felt like he let Lance down. He said that his broken finger altered his throwing motion which extended into the following season which set him back. What I have yet to hear is that he could not read defenses or the asinine take that they think he sucked like I have seen bandied around a lot.
I don't think they believe he'll ever be better than backup level, so take the better pick.I am a little surprised they would trade him to another NFC team.

Most likely. You are rolling the dice. The odds of winning are not in your favor. And someone saw something to cut bait and trade him for a 4th. I know people wanna be optimistic but here’s how this is likely to play out…it doesn’t.
Sure maybe in not so many words. What Shanahan said was that he felt that he let Lance down and that injuries were cause.Have you heard any coach or front office manager say of a quarterback "he sucked" as they showed him the door?
I believe there were actually four teams interested so yes they were offering fifths and 6th the Cowboys just said we'll get it 4th I mean most likely the Cowboys are gonna be a double digit playoff team and that fourth is gonna be like a fifth anyway it's gonna be in the bottom five or six of each draft roundThat explains why we traded a 4th. Personally I like the trade but was surprised it was a 4th and not a pick lower. But someone was bidding for his services too and that’s why the price went up. Makes sense. I still like it. I wouldn’t have liked it if it was a 1st or 2nd round. Then Jerry panicked.
Fair enough. But just out of curiosity, how would a coach phrase "he sucked" in coach speak?Sure maybe in not so many words. What Shanahan said was that he felt that he let Lance down and that injuries were cause.
Nothing to see here, move along.....So said nfl team took the best deal in a trade? Shocker.
Lance has a lot of potential, which is why we drafted him, but for various reasons he was unable to reach his potential here.Fair enough. But just out of curiosity, how would a coach phrase "he sucked" in coach speak?
Usually a bunch of no comments.Fair enough. But just out of curiosity, how would a coach phrase "he sucked" in coach speak?
It also destroyed me. I went to bed with my Dak blankie and sippy cup. Cried for hours upon hearing about the trade. Why would they attempt to destroy the psyche of the greatest QB to ever play the game?I hate it. It puts pressure on dak and might cost him millions. 'Get that money boy" I hope the team makes him ride a bus to the games and makes him practice on a completely different field. This sucks......
True, but they also got an unexpected gift in Purdy, which changed their plans. The 49ers saw something in him when they had very little information about him, just an unusually short college career. Since then, they have acquired a lot more information about him—they see him every day—and clearly changed their minds about his potential.
49ers picked Cowboys' Trey Lance trade offer over Bills'

The 49ers traded Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, keeping the third-year NFL quarterback in the NFC, though an AFC contender reportedly made an effort to acquire the former first-round draft pick.
The Buffalo Bills made an offer to the 49ers for Lance before San Francisco accepted Dallas' bid, The San Jose Mercury News' Cam Inman reported, citing a team source.

Uh oh....watch out you'll get labelled a Dak StanWhat's hilarious, is if he went to the Bill's, the story would have been how shrewd of a move it was for the bill's to get a quality backup to support Josh Allen
ExactlyKinda like Dak has done for the last 8 years.
