Agreed, comeback routes are fine when you have a large target (TE) sitting beyond the marker as the ball gets there. Having this WR core running 7-8yd comeback routes on 3-10 in ridiculous...We need way more slants, posts, crossing routes etc....
Dak's talent grade doesn't allow for a wide selection of passes.
Comeback routes are plenty as he can throw those or at least they think he can.

What killls zone? QBs that run while defenders are back on their heels. Dak’s biggest downfall is his hesitancy to run the damn ball. When the defense is sitting in middle zone waiting to jump the Kelmo’s curl route special, you break the pocket and run for a first down. That middle soft shell defense goes out the window with 1 less defender having to spy the QB. Just add that to his decision making gaffs Sunday. Since the ankle injury this has been the case. But when the NFC title game is in reach you give it your all and he didn’t do that…..

With the exception of selling his good boy image, and making tons of cash there really isn't anything great or good about him on the gridiron.
P.S. The leadership tale went sailing after Sunday's loss......
?????.....who we talking about?

He said something similar after last year's defeat.

Dont you think that we use comebacks and curls because they suit Dak? When Dak's off he tends to throw at (or behind) the receiver, it's as if he needs an actual target and cant pre-empt the route, hence the issue with 'ins' and negates the slants knowing that there will be someone in the area.
You get it.

If you watch the all22 you'll see receivers having a step on defenders but Dak is afraid to cut it loose, instead hits the 3-5 yd drag routes. Kellen finds "safe" routes for Dak and should be commended.

It's amazing people watched this guy throw 50-60% of his balls off target yet try to defend him with every ridiculous excuse out there.
We grossly overpaid a under skilled player at QB, that's it.

Staring down the receivers . . . don't forget staring down the receivers . . . The opposing Safeties have feasted on this all year .
Indeed, and this apparent need to stare at where he's going to throw further indicates that he has a problem visualising (hence throws appear behind the lateral receiver....throwing to where he was when the ball was released).
That would account for his preference towards hitch and curls.

This is a stupid take and I don't even want to defend dak but he literally destroyed the eagles zone defense less than a month ago.

"Per @NextGenStats, Dak Prescott went 24-for-24 for 300 yards when Eagles played zone. Eagles defense allowed points (4 TDs, 4 FGs) on 8 of 10 Cowboys possessions. Eagles’ 2nd-worst defensive performance of the season, based on EPA per drive."

Both Philly and the Bucs played a lot of zone if I'm not mistaken.

He wasn't good against the niners zone. There is a difference.

I am in no way defending Dak's performance because that speaks for itself with so many interceptions this season.

That said, the one thing that irritates me when teams play zone against the Cowboys is that Kellen Moore calls a lot of comeback routes which makes it really easy for the defenders to defend. The defender never loses sight of the ball while the Cowboys receiver only sees the ball at the end of the comeback route.

Even if that's the only way he knows how to beat zone you would think at some point he would mix in some "run to the defender, stop, turn back, then immediate turn around and take off down field" just to keep the defenders honest or hesitating.
Where is Mike input? he is the head coach he should be telling Moore what to do

You mean like this pathetic play where all the receivers run right to the defenders then just turn around. The defenders are looking right at Dak to jump the route as the receivers run toward them. This has to be the worst play to run when defense is playing zone with their eyes toward the QB.

The risk taken to get 4 yards is not worth it. We've been running this play multiple times a game since JG days as OC/HC.

Just a stupid play call here.

Provide the receipts then. I'd love to see the screen shots of his open wrs, along with pressure and know how many he missed.

Alot of people quote the all 22 without actually seeing it. Last year vs AZ you could go online and see 2 completely different narratives depending on who created the content.

What amazes me is how polar the Dak issue is. He's a top 10 qb, and you have to either hate him or want him ran out of town. It's a lot of wasted energy because his contract dictates he's here for at least another couple of years.

The leadership tale went out the window when he threw Maher under the bus, throwing his helmet and screaming go for 2, and CeeDee built him up.

Don't worry about what I do as you have Dak to keep you in suspense.
P.S. No one disappears just refuse to partake in silly Dak is great parties here when it's against sub-.500 (like the Bucs) opponents.
Or the best team in the league Eagles.

His contract doesn’t dictate he needs to start.

Look it up yourself unless you're afraid of what you'll see. Our receivers are the ONLY guys in the league who are never open outside?
Got it.

When Prescott is good his defenders gloat; when he not good his detractors aggressively criticize him. The two group bicker back and forth all day long on this very forum. That proves that the QB is just too inconsistent. You never know what the Cowboys will have until after the games are over. He is probably going to be on the roster and likely the starter for some time to come. I strongly suggest that management needs to find new people to coach and work with him ASAP. Go with a new OC and a very good QB coach to try and get more consistent play out of him. Continuing on the way things are is a big mistake IMO.
Exactly the correct conclusion. If there weren't issues, there wouldn't be this level of discussion.
