I think we play 2 LBs in large part because it is a position of weakness. Also, how often do we play a 5-2? Seems more and more we are playing the "Big Nickel" which is a 4-2-5
LB is not a position of weakness by no measure.
LB/S is a position of strength, and old definitions like LB, need to be shelved in Quinns scheme.

Watched every second. ESPN "Dallas Cowboys' first pick must be offensive line" Wrong. SI "Cowboys Hint at Taking Offensive Lineman High in NFL Draft" Wrong. Waited until the 5th. LOL!!! Very clearly the Cowboys weren't going OL at 28.
So even when presented with direct quotes from the war room cam you giggle like a child?

You have been educated. What you do with that education is up to you.

How is it that LB is a position of strength? If anything, its got potential to be good with plenty of unknowns.

Right now our best Linebacker is LVE a solid linebacker.

Quinn does not share your definition of LB.

You have to consider players like Kearse when trying to evaluate LB depth on this roster.
What does Quinn have to do with anything?

My comment was about what YOU thought of the linebacker room.

Hes not a linebacker. I get what your saying but hes not
If speaking specifically about LVE and Clark, that is a decent starting pair in most packages, so its hard to say we have a lack of depth because the scheme
is a disguising look with players evolving in the back 7 that can flex without having to sub in.

Is Overshown a LB or a Safety? Wouldn't doubt that as of now he is penciled in behind Clark on depth.

LVE with Cox and Harper.

Is MP a DE or LB... both, and again the flexibility is the importance. and has to be considered when evaluating "LB" depth.

Now of course we have question marks with players like Cox, Harper and Overshown, but there are always question with young players, but there is upside there.

... excited
1. Defense will be better
2. No Moore Kellen calling plays
3. Running game should improve
4. No more Brady and Rodgers
5. The conference is WIDE open, and I expect Dallas to take advantage of it.

... concerned
1. Dak the regular season warrior, the post-season whimp
2. Relying on recovering Pollard and pint-size Vaugh to lead the running attack? Yeah, right.
3. Injuries
4. McCarthy's clock management and game-time decisions
5. Jerry Jones being Jerry Jones

You said our linebackers were a strength. LVE is average and I like Clarks potential but he hasnt done anything yet. Same with overshawn. Cox has been a disappointment. Just sayin.

Even if Clark turns out to be a stud we will need someone else to replace LVE.

Dak Prescott has a passer rating of 92.3 with 1,559 yards, 11 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 6 games in the playoffs in his career.

As always you Dak hating trolls are wildly off on your claims about our QB.

Tampa game alone he threw for 300 yards and 5 TD's which was arguably the best QB performance in playoff history.

You can add another 118 yards rushing and 4 TD's to those 6 playoff game statistics which makes it even more incredible.

Never said LB was a strength in the since that you are trying to interpret.
Your looking specifically at the listed starting LBs, I'm trying my best to explain rationally that the flexibility of the back 7 has to be considered a strength at "LB".

Reasons for excitement are all good. Some tweaks,
1. Addition of Brandin Cooks , faster proven receiver , with hopefully fully fit Gallop.
2. OL hopefully better than last year in pass blocking and run blocking ( Steele is needed )
3. Better usage of RBs by big Mac and schotty
4. Improved Defense , hopefully DL keeps LBs clean and allows them to get to ball carriers . Secondary is as good as we ever had in recent times
5. Dak getting confidence from improved run game and playing better

concerns
1. OL - if someone doesnt step up to fill the hole until Steele is ready & LG we will have mediocore line. Tyler switching to LG is slightly concerning after he balled at Tackle last year.
2. Linebackers , one of the draft picks has to come through ( Cox, Clarke, Overshawn .. )
3. DEs (other than Micah) need to step it up , with this secondary if we cant bring pressure when passing , it is a shame. Parsons cant be lone lion attacking, we need a pack.
4. Kicker , I believe we will be ok but has to be seen.
5. Special teams , too much turnover - hope they get it together before season .
I mostly agree with these but DE isn't really a concern to me. The Cowboys finished 3rd in sacks, most of those from the DE positions. I would think DT is a bit more of a question, but this group should be improved.

IDK...~50% of this thing depends on Dak Prescott.
I assume defense will remain top 15...or better... and sometimes play like top5... (I hope).
Special teams will make some big plays (I hope).
Offensive line will be improved (I hope).
Running game will be respectable (I hope).
Receivers will be reliable (I hope).
The new TEs will be effective (I hope).
Dak Prescott will thrive in the new scheme and improve his TD/INT ratio..(I hope)...maybe...
MM will be a competent play caller (I hope).
.
In the end, nothing is guaranteed...there are too many "I hope"s.
.
The only thing I'm sure of is "no one knows".
