50's out, call up 51?

Isn't he coming off micro-fracture surgery? If he is healthy I wouldn't be opposed to it, but we would have the following on defense returning from injury (Spencer, Melton, Crawford,Okeye, Claiborne, Wilcox, Angerer, Bass). Thats a pretty big gamble :).

I think he's the best fit to come in and take over snaps for S. Lee. If your not familiar with him I included a vid.

Out of all the free agents available, he probably makes the most sense.

Would you say standing pat is a better gamble? Or is there another player on your radar currently available who has some success and is not coming off injury...and isn't 35 or older?

2 year deal if he works out next year he stays at middle Sean moves over but I think he makes sense the fact that he played in a cover 2 system and he was not bad at all in the MLB spot.

Angerer will or should be ready to go by training camp. Missed 5 games each of the last two seasons

I would like to see him signed.

Id be in if hes healthy. Jerry has to do something to sell fans on this team!

Coming off injuries and hasn't played much in the last 2 seasons.

If everyone thinks Urlacher is slow and will be a liability in coverage wait till you see Angerer.

We need a player that's going to make it through the season.

This guy is as injury prone as Lee.

We could grab Dan Conner instead- wink.

Lol!

I know people hate hearing this but I would like to talk with Urlacher.

Vilma is probably done and can't make it through a season.

We need a guy that knows the system, is of starting quality and has proven durability.

First off, NO. Urlacher is DONE... a 36 year old coming out of RETIREMENT isn't an option.

Angerer knows the system, and played well in it. It was when they went to a 3-4 that he struggled. Is of Starting Quality. And Durability is fleeting... you could be injured your entire career and have one or two good season or the opposite.

How do you know he is done and what makes you think a rehabilitating Angerer will play better than a 36 year old, healthy Brian Urlacher who knows this scheme, Marinelli and has proven to be able to play throughout a season?

Not to mention we were looking at him last year but because we had Lee did not sign the future HOF up, not because Marinelli didn't think he could still play.

Look. If Lee wasn't injured, which is rarely the case, I wouldn't bring Urlacher up.

But I'll tell you this much, we were looking at him last year knowing we had Lee and obviously knowing he was vulnerable to injury and wanted to make sure we had an adequate replacement.

You can pound your chest about Angerer all you want but this guy has not made it through a full season the past 2 seasons just like Lee.

Currently he's not even training cause he's banged up.

I'm not looking to build a defense around. Urlacher I'm looking to get that. 1 or 2 years that we need while rebuilding this defensive unit out of him.

I guess Brian Waters being signed last year made you mad?

No more players with extended and/or recent injury history please. I'm sick and tired of it, and I'm sure the Cowboys are too. Look for them to sign someone who's proven to be durable (if they sign someone at all).

Put it this way.

Angerer is not going to give you any more than an Ernie Sims would.

Our knock on Sims last year was his inability in pass coverage.

Angerer is no better in pass coverage.

How do you know he is done?

Uh, maybe the fact that he RETIRED? He had a deal in place to go back and play for the bears and he retired instead... sounds like a guy that's done to me. But you keep holding on to that hope! ;)

You mean the 36 year old that missed 4 games in his last season? That Healthy Urlacher? Guys that are 36 don't get healthier!

He's been retired the same ammount of time you want to sign him for! LOL Romo's not ready yet, lets call up Brett Farve! o_O

Anger is young, cheap and played in the system. He's not perfect, if he where, he wouldn't be available on May 28th. But IMO he's the best option! And I can't believe he's that bad in coverage, he was drafted into and started in a cover two D for two years.

Forget the pass coverage, what you primarily need at MLB is a tacking machine, and the ability to recognize formations and make the proper adjustments to the defense. Carter could probably do this, but it all depends where his heart and passion for the game is. That is why Angerer is an option, he has lots of experience at the position in a similar defense, and is a tackling machine.
