I don't care for him either but if we are going to be stuck with paying him that much we might as well get something out of it.
yeah we'll get something out of it.

60-70 catches(20 drops)

1,300 yards

12 tds

no playoff wins

plenty of whining and complaining
and a divided team heading no where fast.

CUT THE CANCER!

At this point TO's distraction > TO's production and his skills are only going to continue to decline. As his skills decline he is going to begin pointing the finger more and more at his QB/OC and become an even bigger distraction. It was an incredibly stupid move by Jones to give him a big bonus - as soon as that happened, the real TO came out again because he assumed he had job security and didn't have to worry about being cut.

JJ misread the situation just like he did with Barber, Flo, Bigg, RW, Hamlin and TNew. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and will stop renegotiating contracts on older players and be careful about who he decides to re-up: only younger guys with strong work ethics. Older vets should only get shorter deals with smaller bonuses. Guys who think they are bigger than the team should be shown the exit.

Owens would cost us 9 million on our cap if he is cut next year for an empty roster spot. The 600 thousand misleading figure that the cut TO people have thrown around is only the difference in his cap hit if he stays or goes.

If Ownes is cut, it will be 9 million dollars wasted on an empty roster spot. Jerry isn't getting out of the 9 million. It is NOT as if we have been lead to believe by some on here that cutting TO will only mean 600 grand cap hit. It will mean 600 grand more on top of the nearly 9 million he is getting. you cut TO and you still have to pay that money.

TO isn't going anywhere.

Edit: fixed link.
That $ is already spent, and can't be recouped. The # you should be concerned with is $6M or $7M, which is what TO would be paid this year. Whether it's this year or in the future, that's $ that will be available to spend on another player.

The Cowboys are worth $ 1.6 Billion dollars. The value and stability of the franchise is well worth taking the cap hit.

Exactly. It's a 680k hit, that's it.

If I give you 10 dollars and you give me four back, I haven't given you 10, I've given you six.

And we don't need to spend a ton on a replacement. We already got RW, and Miles has a lot of talent.

Uhhhh no (with all due respect). It's more like you hired me for $100 worth of labor, however, you didn't like the shirt I wore when I showed up for work and terminated our contract. However, my contract has a clause that states termination of such contract will guarantee me my original $100 and a severance of an additional $6.70. You're out the money and work still hasn't been done. Not exactly the same as swapping a Hamilton for four Washingtons, bro.

BTW, wassup CL?

Forget about the 9 mills. That money is gone. Cowboys aint' getting it back. Also, forget about the " AND spending more money to replace him ", that's not going to happen either since the Cowboys are set at the WR position with him or without him.

The question is why ? Why do you want to get rid of a valuable asset you've invested alot in and get nothing in return ? He doesn't have any off the field problems. He's not lazy. He produces.

Because he doesn't get along with some other company employees ? Because he speaks his mind and in doing so he offends some of his fellow co-workers ? Ok, I'll buy that. Just because you're honest doesn't give you the authority or the right to disrupt a working environment.

Still, wouldn't it be better to find a way to make that asset work for you as opposed to not ? or at least make an attempt to do so ? Sit down with T.O. and his agent, explain to him what's going to be expected and put the ball in his court. If he doesn't respond, then, by all means, get rid of him, but at least give yourself a chance.

I don't know why this is so hard to grasp.

If he isn't cut, he will cost approximately $9,000,000.00 against the 2009 Cap.

If he gets' cut, he will cost approximately $9,600,000.00 against the 2009 Cap.

Hence why the thinking that the cap hit is only $600,000.00. In other words, to do it only costs that amount more than not doing it.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Anybody know how much Terrell Owens made this year?

Also, where does $9M rank among NFL Wide Receivers?

CUT THE CANCER!

I agree with this.

Not sure why people keep making the claim that the Offense would drop like a sack of dimes if Terrell Owens is cut.

- 1 10 TD/1000 yd (that being the worst of his career, BTW) WR. You forgot that part of the equation. Oh that's right, Roy Williams is going to fill the void.

No, Roy Williams along with Jason Witten, Martellus Bennett, Felix Jones, Tashard Choice, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin will fill that void.
