What a depressing article.

100% of blame on Jerry.

You know what's depressing....

I was listening on the radio today, they were talking about how the Broncos organization was inviting all of their old legends to the conference title game this weekend. On the sidelines and at the game they expect several of their past greats to be in attendance. It reminded back to the '93 and '95 championship games when the Cowboys did something similar. When we won those two NFC title games in Texas Stadium, Bob Lilly and Roger Staubach were on the stage to receive the trophy with the Triplets. Unfortunately these 90s players have been robbed of enjoying a moment like that for more than decade. Trust me, they are upset, those 90s players love this team, but they are fed up too. I talk to Irvin every so often, he's not happy and he genuinely LOVES this franchise. I feel sick this offseason b/c it feels like the entire league is passing us by. Detroit, Minnesota, Tampa...all hiring new coaches, cleaning out staffs...doing something DIFFERENT while we remain in neutral. I fully expect all of those bottom feeders to surpass us soon while we willow away in a "process". Just sickening how this is all because of one man. Jerry has brought this organization straight to hell.

But he doesnt do the one thing he needs to do:
Hire a football guy to run the show. Tell the new guy that he alone picks the head coach. And the head coach then chooses his assistants. Tell the new football guy he decides what is best for the team. If it means moving on from Romo and re-building, then thats the way it is. Tell this new guy that he has 5 years to make significant progress with this organization and nobody will hear from Jerry Jones.

This new "football guy" would accomplish more in 5 years than Jerry has accomplished in the last 15.

This is exactly what needs to happen.........until it does.......jerry is throwing darts......

It's not the players. It's not the coaches. Although I don't think JG is ready......

It's the owner and the model he has set up. Plain and simple....

I mean, What is so bad about hiring a GM? Or, the way i would do it, hire a GM/HC......

That's the fix......

Dawn Macelli on Blogging the Boys writes an article where she interviewed the daughter of Jerry Jones titled "Why the Cowboys are not concerned about fan apathy" and it answers every question regarding the 17 years drought and why the Jones family doesn't care. If I have violated a rule not to refer to another forum please delete this, but it is an article every fan should read. Basically it states that it is not about the game on the field, it is about the 'brand' which is the star they sell. It certainly explains a lot of things and also why it will be a miracle if the Cowboys ever go to another SB unless the Jones family develop a different perspective and a different goal/purpose. Again, Mods if I am doing anything wrong please delete it.

There is a large group of cowboys fans out there that would support a writer or writers , in the Dallas area thst would hold jerry accountable by using the pen. That would at least put "some" pressure on Jerry......

Will it sink in?? Who knows......but what else can be done.

The city of Dallas. Fans of the Dallas Cowboys, and the name and franchise of the Dallas Cowboys are BIGGER, then Jerry Jones....

I actually like Jerry. But. He had his chance.......it's time Jerry. Your love of this team and determination to prove everybody wrong, is ruining the Dallas Cowboys as we used to know it......

Back away. Hire a GM. Be an owner. If he does that, all these negative comments about Jerry will ......go away......even if we don't win a SB......

Jerry was stupid enough to admit it's all about the show & no worries about that GB loss!

We are such a joke now............500 team with a head coach in training

We actually lost the division to a team that went a calendar year without winning a home game.

LOL

Pretty bad......

And we are a joke. Within the league when coaches and players and analysts are scoping out the season.....they don't really factor in the cowboys,,,,,,they are more worried about the other 80 percent of the league..

What makes it sad for me as I watched another, last game win and you're in game, this season. Was the fact that I knew, even if they did win, they weren't beating anybody in the playoffs........no chance what so ever....

We have squandered away years of really bad football in the NFCE. We could've easily wrapped up HFA throughout the playoffs, which would've given us great shots at a Super Bowl. We had the talent from the parcells years......

By far long way past due but very still commendable for the entire city, state, players and fan base to have turned their backs on the farcical Owner/GM.

Almost everyone (90%) finally see Jerry Jones for the terrible Owner he is.....honestly hard to believe we lived to see this day.

Everyone is in from the News (Local/National), to the Fans to the Players to the Radio....Jerry YOU SUCK Jones, get used to the sound of the masses reining down.

I'm proud of the guys for stepping up to reality.

Some of us were just slow in getting there. No more. 17 years of bad football will do it to you.

I gave Jerry a long leash,,,,..

He would gamble in the late nineties.....but for a good reason.
Then it was the salary cap switch and I think the cowboys had a few years they had to wait.
And then , he did hire Parcells.........so I kept waiting.....i thought that was a good move.....
But the decisions made since Parcells has left........really really, bad......

Jerry has totally lost me as a supporter. It's time for him to hire a GM, back away from the microphone , and football field, and just be an owner. PERIOD.

Yea it was what happened after Parcells left that convinced me that Jerry didn't really know what he was doing. I guess I had to be blind because when you look at the whole Joey Galloway trade and the Quincy Carter-Chad Hutchinson mess, it's obvious he didn't know what he was doing then either.

I remember a part in Jimmy's A FOOTBALL LIFE show where he was talking about trading for Tony Casillas.

He said he turned on the tv a few hours later & Jerry had called a press conference saying he had made the trade.

That's the kind of guy Jerry is. Lying old fool.

Right.

I wasn't critical of Jerry at that time either. Maybe I should've been....

It was the Roy Williams(WR) trade that made me think......"what is he doing?" Worst-trade-ever......

Yeah I agree and the 90s players are slowly starting to stop biting their tongues on the direction of this franchise.

Uh, how old are you? All you have to do is last longer than the current GM by 3-4 years, my fellow fan, and you will see your next SB trophy. If not, I will refund you your 3-4 years back, plus interest.

I'm 29 years old and started following the team in '00 when I was 16. I was 11 years old when the Cowboys beat the Steelers in SB XXX and I really wasn't in to football back then. My dad was super happy and had a sunny disposition for about a year because of that game, lol.

Needless to say there have been quite a few disappointments while I've been following the team with none of the winning to counter them.

More Woodson on coaching Sounds like he is not a Garrett fan. Jimmy and Parcells...yes. This is for those who doubted what Parcell's brought to the table.

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***...explains-what-made-team-most-successful.html/

“When they brought in Bill Parcells, I was the happiest guy in the room,” Woodson said.

Why?

Because, according to Woodson, the Cowboys were at their best when they were led by a no-nonsense authority figure who wielded power. That was the case when Jimmy Johnson resurrected the organization after it crumbled in the final stages of Tom Landry’s reign.

“I think if you look at those years from ‘89 to ‘95 or ‘92 when Jimmy was involved to when Parcells came in the early 2000s, I think you’ve got to look at it and say those were our most successful years in the last 20 and in those two instances we had two coaches that dominated the locker room, that changed the culture in the locker room,” said Woodson, a current ESPN analyst. “Jimmy was a guy who held everyone accountable from Troy Aikman to the punter, Mike Saxon. Parcells was exactly the same way. He held everyone accountable. He had control over the draft. Jimmy had control over the draft. He had control over his own personnel. If you weren’t playing well, well, you get the boot, find yourself on the street. That’s when they were most successful. When no one can circumvent the coach is when they were very strong as an organization. Outside of that, they have been extremely average.”

All those 90's players if they are unhappy, need to start pointing out the reason. If during a FOX game, Troy Aikman voices his thoughts on Jerry is the problem, that could start to gain traction. Problem is, those guys like Jerry and it's hard to talk bad about someone you like.

Everyone in football knows Jerry is the problem, but folks who matter are not going to say it.

I think the Woodson comments are about as strong as I've see in awhile. Basically he is saying coaching is the issue an pointing out their best years. That is an indictment on Garrett and Jerry's way of bringing in weaker coaches.

Yes, I agree. It would be nice if a few of them spoke up more against Jerry. At least the players that played before Jerry purchased the team should.
