A Bad strategy, or maybe not?

This was something I noticed a lot of lat week, and maybe even in the Cards game.
And the best way to control that everybody keeps skipping over it cause they're totally against the idea he needs to play a lot more off the ball linebacker in some games against certain schemes so he doesn't get caught in the wash some of you just don't want to admit it but he can get neutralized and the blueprint came from Philadelphia..

Other teams since have picked up on it if you run right at them you use a lot of motion get him chasing get him caught in traffic he gets neutralized so there's gotta be some game plans where there's a lot of packages and certain parts of the game against certain teams that he plays significant snaps at off the ball linebacker so he can read and react.. We realize we want them rushing the passer but he doesn't need to do that all game and by the way everyone saying that he needs to be Lawrence Taylor I ELT well if that's the case Lawrence Taylor played more from his off the ball linebacker spot than people remember and yes he pass rush too but in a different way back then the outside linebackers were not the same as they are now where they are almost defensive ends he literally was an off the ball linebacker that ended up revolutionizing or really creating that outside linebacker spot in my opinion I mean it was a long time ago but as a Cowboys fan I remember the dude wrecking us a lot of games..

He did so a lot of times from the off the ball linebacker spot he didn't need to be up inside the line to get to the quarterback or stop the run or be affected and I believe they need to get Micah Parsons used to this and I'm really sick of this too Parsons is in the game far too much when he's injured and the game's way out of reach like in a blowout trying to get sacks trying to just build his stats and that needs to be buffered by the coaches he needs to be fresher game to game and the best way to do that is sit him when is no longer needed for him to be in the game...

What if Micah spied Christian McCaffrey the entire game?
The benefit of Micah as a game-wrecking pass rusher would be nullified, but McCaffrey would be erased with a 240 lb player with CB speed.

Is that something you would do as defensive coordinator? Or does Dallas give away their pass-rush advantage with this approach?

Maybe this becomes the halftime adjustment if necessary.
No...use a safety who hits.

What he does on the field is reflected in news casts following his injury off the field...

100% made no sense at all I mean it didn't even relate to what I wrote... I'm saying it was clear last game and clear at least three times last year that we were in games that were over and he had been dinged up and hurt and yet kept coming back in to try to pad his stats and it needs to stop seriously the man needs to be as healthy and fresh each game not try to get more sacks at the end of games that are over and where he could use the rest it was very obvious it's very sad that you don't see it I'm getting tired of it because I seeing a selfish player who really needs to stop looking to put up a stat sheet instead get your *** onto the bench sit games over and get ready to be fresher the next game...

Just use a spy that is alert and hits.
I'm guessing that other teams have tried this, to no avail. Parsons would be more than effective, he would erase McCaffrey and make them one dimensional.

I'll be watching Juanyeh Thomas in this game. He's got great length, is probably the best tackler of the safety group, and has played well every time he's been given an opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the mix at stopping McCaffery.

I wouldn't advertise my own ignorance if you...I pointed to the acknowledgement in the media of his dominance .... by following him keenly going into the San Francisco/Dallas game...Since you also have to make crap up, Parsons will fully participate this game and is important.

Just shut the hell up misquoting or even understanding a real indicator outside of this fan base relevance showing...  Mr. Smart guy and 'better fan.'

Parsons is a 'linebacker' in name and isolated play...only! He is part of what instead is getting respect. Pressure on opposing quarterbacks/turn overs.

Just looking for conversation on this topic... what is your reason not to do this?
First off Micah is a game wrecking pass rusher. If it were 2nd or 3rd and long and SF could block Micah one on one with just CMC (with no help from one of the 5 OL or TEs) and neutralize him every single time, they would do it, right? That's in effect what you would be doing. You are taking your best player out of every play just 4 or 5 catches per game CMC gets and your pass defense is already designed it in part stop those so how many of those 5 catches actually lead to a first down without a spy. If SF could somehow guarantee taking Micah out of the game on every pass down without even having to block him they would beat us easily even if CMC never gets a touch in those spots

Second, it doesn't work the same way "spying" a RB as a running QB. When you spy on a running QB you are basically waiting behind the LOS on passing downs for him to start running and when he does it is with no lead blockers and the offense makes no attempt to account for you with a blocker, so if you are there and good enough, you usually make the play or prevent the run in the first place while also being able to cover the short middle of the field while spying. You also do your job if the QB runs for 5 yards because you are probably spying him on 3rd and long. With a RB and on a called running play there is so much traffic. You can try to spy on a guy but still be sealed off or blocked or they just run away from you. The whole goal of the OL and TEs on any running play will be to account for each front 7 defender or even anyone in the box or who has outside contain by blocking you or running away from you. In effect, a lot of the time the "Mike" LB is kind of spying on the running back (not exclusively of course but it is one of his main things to look for) on most run downs, but they don't necessarily stop the run singlehandedly or make every tackle because the offenses job is to prevent them from making a play. Stopping the run is a team game.

If you want a spy, make it a guy like Bell, but lastly when you change your defense around to have a spy it impacts everyone's role. So on each play what CMC does pre and post snap determines who covers him. You practice this all week and do it all year. If you put a spy on him and you now have a player on both the left and right side of the defense who would normally cover him what do they do? Have two guys covering him? Do you remove one of them pre-snap in which case you now have a whole in your defense where the spy otherwise would have been that could be an issue on WR screens and outs and the such. If you are gong to be in pure man anyway then not much changes but you have a quicker guy on CMC than Micah and one whose job is coverage not sacking the QB.

Micah Parsons mentioned seeing the opportunity to take the ball away from Purdy earlier in the week. When Lawrence was asked about those opportunities, he responded, “Well, Micah, better go take it.”

actually I said what I said and I meant it the dude comes in too much in garbage time trying to pad his stats when he's clearly injured he wasn't playing the media he was hurt he's done this before in the past we need him to save his energy and when he's dinged up and wearing blowups he needs to stick his *** on the bench got it?? You remember all that talk last year about him disappearing no he didn't disappear he wore himself out because he would stay in games he didn't need to be in when he was clearly dinged up and needed rest the guy almost needs to be taken off on a stretcher every game when we've been in three blowouts there was no need for it I don't know where the attitudes coming from but you all know better than to tell me to shut up... I didn't make anything up he's been hurt many times limping coming out of games and then coming back in to try to go get a sack and a blowout that's ridiculous it needs to be stopped we need this dude to be fresher and have more energy and be healthier in the big games and last game was a perfect example of him kept limping his *** back in to try to get a sack and it's wrong it's ridiculous and need to pull his *** out you remember when they used to hide people's helmets well they need to hide this guy's cleats and his helmets..

He has to continue growing as a leader...he will. His NFL strengths as well as accomplishments will also. He is still young, better, and already at a top shelf level. The team around him is getting better as well.

The 49ers will challenge all three phases of the Cowboys’ game, saying this game will test how great the Cowboys can be.

The Cowboys have echoed how much the team blends older and younger talent in all aspects of their game. So, some of the younger players have not experienced the two season-ending losses to the 49ers like some veterans.

Tank said his message to those players was, “This is a business, and we do this for our livelihood and our job, but also, this is personal. Can’t forget that [the 49ers] took our hopes and our dreams away from us last year, and we definitely got to get that back.”

The 49ers would love us using Micah to spy CM. That would take him away from what he does best which is pass rushing I don’t mind the idea of a spy but I’d prefer to use Hooker in that role.
..very likely, not happening. Maybe DQ, uses Micah as disguised in packages? Making SF offense sweat a little bit.

Or hell, they might just run right at him. Trying to make a point.

I believe we used Hooker as a spy before. I like moving Micah around as long as he’s attacking the LOS.

See, that's a well crafted response. I just think that Bell, or any promising safety is not going to be successful shutting down McCaffrey, it takes a Micah Parsons level talent. If just anyone could spy McCaffrey, then he wouldn't be having these gigantic rushing performances.

But I'm still thinking through your comments, you make some very good points, just what I was looking for.
