There are several message boards filled with fans of this team. We may argue and fuss about the incidentals, but one thing is absolute. We all love this team and want it to win.
It was a long time coming for me, but I have finally reached a point that I believe Jerry Jones the GM is the core problem with this team. I look back over the years of failure and the one common denominator is Jones.
Bad drafts. Bad free agent picks. Questionable coaching hires.
Simply put, Jones has failed the team.
Now Jerry Jones the owner, a man who could rival P.T. Barnum for creating excitement and showcasing the team is a wonderful man. He makes this team the focal point of the league almost without regard of how well they play.
But Jones the GM has dropped the ball.
I saw something in a post here on this board that really hit home with me. It was a list of failures this team has experienced since Jones decided he was a real football man.
So this is what I am suggesting. There is a major freeway that leads to the new stadium. They have these devices called billboards.
What if we, all of us on all boards pooled out nickles and dimes and purchased a billboard for a couple of months. Now the cost might be as much as 6 grand. But hear me out.
On this billboard we could list all the failings of Jones the GM. We could start a thread and list out everything we think and vote on what this billboard would say.
But the bottom line is it should say Jerry Jones, fire your GM. Signed The Fans.
Now money is an issue. I have not contacted him, but I have more trust in Hos than anyone else on these boards. And I have never met the man.
I can say on the board I run we got together and bought a watch for a guy who was an Army Ranger in Iraq. The guy who collected the dough ran out taking the money and we were all stuck.
But I think Hos is an honorable man and would do us right.
Maybe we could vote on a committee to do the negotiating for this billboard.
The point of this is to make it known that Jerry needs to listen to the fans.
The publicity alone would be tremendous.
I also suggest since you have a fan who recently passed that it might be appropriate to list his name first and then the fans after on the signature. That would have to meet with the approval of the family of the gentleman, of course.
I think both this site and the others that participate should be listed on the bottom, so all sites enjoy a little added foot traffic. Because if a fan who shouts at Werder or whomever makes the news, surely this would as well.
And that could be a nice piece of advertising for all the sites beyond just voicing our opinions that Jones needs to hand the reins over to a real football guy.
I know I disagree about a lot of things on this team with fans here and elsewhere. But I am a fan first and foremost. I have not talked with Hos to see if he will do this, but I bet he could be talked into this.
I bet there are others on this or other boards who work in the advertising industry who could work on our half in securing the right board with the right amount of visual impact.
There is a lot of work to do if this is something we all can agree on.
Any opinions on this are welcome. I surely understand if you think this is silly, or impossible, or are a Jones fan and think he is doing a good job.
But please know this. I have a 100 dollar bill to toss into the pot on this. I am dead serious.
Jones needs to hear the fans who believe the team has a tradition of winning that is now being sullied. He stated he is not an owner as much as he is a custodian of the team.
It's time for him to live up to those words.
Opinions?
