How is that any more delusional than diehards who pretend they can see progress when there is no W/L evidence?

All in all, this is yet another "I am a better fan" callout thread. Just love these moments.

Do you not see progress on getting younger and having one of the best young Olines?

I agree with some things and all but I'm totally in disagreement about the fans being the problem. I think the fans openly being critical of the Cowboys lack of results and the organizations track record has forced a new Era of decision making. Something has to give.

Alot of cowboy fans bash this team more then fans of opposing teams or more then media. But whats clear to me is this organization has turned the corner into a new era. They've gone young, and have gotten rid of most of its big overpaid contracts.

They've gone out and brought in and drafted players who arent affraid to put in work and who have an attitude about them. Arent affraid to fight back. In past yrs and even last yr they wouldve folded in that Rams game. No doubt in my mind. And being in the zones chatroom, i saw that same loser mentality in some posters in there. This team isnt the problem, its the fan base IMO. Yes there have been loses for the better portion of 2 decades but im not one to focus on the past but whats right in front of me. And this group has grown on me quick. If this team is going to lose i can handle the losses with a team thats scratching and fighting. Not what we have had to watch in recent yrs with players playing for numbers. Ware's empty garbage time sacks, Romo's empty no huddle yards and Tds in loses.

But something just seems different in 2014. Noway does the team demote Claiborne when he's healthy, noway do we hear Jerry criticize Romo. Noway do the Cowboys stick to the run even with the success its having.

Regaurdless if you want to believe it or not, They have the right set of coordinators surrounding Garrett. And believe it or not this team is better then what they are getting credit for. People talk about the defense is going to implode at some point. Unless they have 7 starters out like they did last yr i dont see that happening. Dallas is getting healthier. This week both Ro McClain should be back, Scandrick should be on the field, T McClain should be ready to get more action, Spencer should be a go. I dont think we will see 2012 Spencer, but i think playing him on 3rd downs with Wilber would be great in creating more pressure then we have seen. Melton is just starting to come into his own. Hes creating alot of havoc inside. But that lack of an outside rush is keeping them guards in Meltons grill with that center help. I think claiborne will be playing in the nickle and will be on the outside on them downs with Scandrick moving inside.

I dont think this team is going far this yr, but i do think they make the playoffs. Its not being a homer either, its just seeing that this team has no quit. And theyre going to win enough games to get in.

Niners L 0-1
Titans W 1-1
Rams W 2-1
Saints W 3-1 Saints D is bad, and their offense struggling because their OL is bad too, Ingram out they dont have a replacement for him at RB
Texans W 4-1 No QB defense getting banged up. Watt nicked up and Clowney out.
Seahawks L 4-2 Loss
Giants W 5-2 Cowboys are going to run all over them. Very short game
Commanders L 5-3 Tough game as always close score
Cardinals L 5-4 Think they have the defense to stop Murray and Romo is exposed
Jaguars W 6-4 Dallas runs over them
Giants W 7-4 Still cant stop the run
Eagles W 8-4 Eagles cant stop the run and Foles is taking a beating so far. By this time in the yr them hits are taking its toll
Bears L 8-5 Murray runs wild but with the cold weather and Romo's back think its a bad game for him with the cold.
Eagles W 9-5 Dallas just has phillys number. Think Kiffins knowledge of what Eagles coach does plays into this from their college days.
Colts W 10-5 Dallas runs over their defense. And Colts have no rungame. Luck cant do it all
Commanders L 10-6 Another tough game.
Some of your points are excellent. They will not be focused on. Some of your comments pointing fingers at other fans are not so excellent. They will be focused on. Welcome to short attention span theater.

There is a definite change happening here, and people will gradually start to see it. I won't pretend the past 2 years have been good enough, but the direction the team is now pointed is promising. I see where the media are speculating about what punishment Claiborne will get. I have a feeling it will be handled behind closed doors and we never know what his punishment is. That won't sit well with some who want players they don't liek punished, and publicly. I am fine with it, because it builds respect within the team.

Now, I could certainly be wrong and we may hear about his punishment. The punishment will still be less significant than the obvious push of the team to either motivate players to do better, or to more on to those who play better. At the start of training camp I loved the news of Mo's aggression. Then he got hurt again, and where did the aggression go? That is what he has to fix. No one doubts his talent, they doubt his drive.

Injuries continue to be our Achilles heel, but this year we do not have the ending season variety that plagued the last 2 years other than Sean Lee. I very much do like this team, and I actually pity people who cannot for whatever selfish reasons. I like this team for the quality of the individuals, and for the effort, and the direction they are headed. It is time to win. I know that as much as anyone, but I definitely am in love with this football team.

Good post. I agree, there has been a change. It will pay off if they stay disciplined to the goals.

Welcome to 2014, Romo is no longer better than Orton, we haven't played a decent QB for the last 2 weeks. For what it's worth, Romo would not have won the last game against the eagles, he was done weeks before, he's worse now.
Everybody and i mean everybody on this forum with ur point of view and media were on Locker after week one. He had turned the corner, he looked very good. He beat a very good cheifs defense soundly. But because Dallas beat the Titans all of the sudden he's taken a step back? People talk out of both ends oif their body at their own convenience.

Orton is better then Romo? I dont like Romo but that statement is wow. He was done weeks before? Did you not see what he did vs the Commanders the week before? The game he had vs the Packers? He wasnt done.

Teams can win based on the fan mood.

Or something.

The feeling the fans have send a vibe down Jerry's stadium onto the field, where the players feel it.

The fans need to start taking PEDs before every home game.

The very fact that this team has not had success for a long, long time should have pretty much weeded out the fair weathered bunch a long time ago.

Maybe, maybe not. however it did create an entire new breed of fans....call them what you will, Realists, Whiners, Haters, antagonists....but by far I rather be the TRUE fan and always root for this team no matter what.

I agree with many of your takes.

However...the fan base does not make the team better. That is only in a fans mind.

Also...IIRC didn't Scandrick take starting reps away from Claiborne at some point last year? I ask that because you say no way they would demote him before...but I think they did before. I also think that if Scandrick would not have been suspended he probably would have been the opening day starter.

Saints have great depth at RB. Some feel Robinson is a better pure runner than Ingram. Thomas is as steady as ever and even Travaris Cadet has some skill. Tight ends have had their way with this secondary and Jimmy Graham is the best in the league. I don't see us stopping this Saints offense. We'll need to completely control TOP and have some defensive breaks go our way.

They have more of a chance to stop us defensively than we do them, IMO. They have a pass rushing presence with Galette and Jordan. Seems as though we'll still be down Ro McClain and Melton will be hobbled if he does play. I don't see us pulling this one out.

Lately you dont have to stop the saints offense. They've been doing that all on their own with bad OL play and penalties. The Saints defense hasnt stopped anybody yet. I dont see how they are going to stop this OL and its running game.

I shouldve been more clear, my reference to the fan base is that this team isnt the problem in our heads as fans but in the mind of the fan. In their inability to live in the present and not the past. This team is making strides forward not backwards. Its just sad that fans cant do the same. Takes away from the enjoyment of watching the games. I saw that in the chatroom this weekend. When Dallas got down 21-0 the talk was shameful in there. And when Dallas started the comeback none of them were to be found.

Something tells me that the Saints D will all of a sudden return to form, and Rob Ryan will be doing belly laughs all game.

Not to mention the constant camera attention that he receives. It will be heightened during this tussle.

The talk should have been shameful. Not sure why someone would not expect it to be.

We gave the Rams 14 points on two turnovers that mirrored the types of turnovers we had just a couple games prior to that one.

In order to move forward you have to show a record that indicates your are moving forward and not backwards or in the same trench.

Until this team can prove it can progress past 8-8 or making same mistakes we have seen time and time again, people are not going to give them the benefit of the doubt in most cases.

wonder how much time he spent of the photo he will use on his play card, compared to putting in the actual plan to put on the card....
Hope he was more focused on the photo...

I think paying attention to the past, gives you an indication, what the future might bring. You said something about getting rid of bad contracts, yet Jerry handed one to Witten and Romo, and also signed Lee to one(who was injury prone before they signed him), and you know, they are going to hand one to Murray(who seems to be Emmitt 2.0 in his contract year), so I can not buy that argument. They have put a focus on the OLine, that is a positive change.

He did not attend the meeting where they put the photos on the boards. He let one of his assistants do that for him.
He was busy at the buy one get one free all you can eat buffet.

Terrible thread to start with all your positivity. This board hates it. Like most of the fan base.
