Lol lee is the much better player. Hands down. We gave a 7th for Ro. Lee would command at least a 2nd round pick. I'm not ready to crown McClain after one game. Show me over the course of a full season.

Good observations!

Next season we'll have a nice tandem of
WLB: Lee MLB: McClain SLB: Carter

As far as Selvie goes, he does make sone plays ,but he does have his moments that'll leave you shaking your head.

Carter will be a free agent. I'm not sure that they re-sign him.

How did you come to that conclusion? Have you studied McClain's previous NFL game footage?

Lee is one of the best in the game. Ppl want to say Ro is in the same class as lee after one game. There's a reason Ro has bounced around the league. I hope the light bulb has come on for Ro. But I'm not ready to put him in lee's category.

I came to this conclusion by watching lee for years. Ro has not been as impressive as lee in the one game he played.

Makes you wonder how he got into a school of higher learning.

generally there are tons of programs for these students.
no idea if he used them or not but getting in wouldn't really present a great challenge; provided he was willing to do the work.

Keep in mind that Ro McClain was a top ten pick. Lee would not command a 2nd rounder now since he's been injured most of the time. As for which LB was better? Ro McClain was. He was playing while Lee was nursing an injury.

So your basing it on 1 game?

I'm not saying he is or isn't on Lee's level, but a 1 game evaluation is not adequate for a player evaluation.

McClain didn't bounce around the league due to a lack of talent. He played well in Oakland, but got crossways with the new Head Coach and got in legal trouble and was cut. He never played or even practiced in Baltimore.

The best thing I took from Sunday is that Rolando McClain is a better player than Sean Lee when he's into it.

would LOVE to see them both playing along side each other!

Carter is done. This is his last year. A guy like him just kills position coaches. I can't even imagine what Eberflus tells his wife and kids at home when he talks about Carter.

He is a real frustration to watch on the field. I can't imagine how bad it is in the practices. He just can't put two and two together to string together consistent high level performances.

We need to start over again with his roster spot and give him the opportunity to go elsewhere. I think he follows Ryan to the Saints. Maybe he can regain some past glory there.

Yes, I believe that you are correct. Even if something clicks for him this season and he plays well, I don't know if they would give him a new contract.

Common sense tells you he's not as good as lee. Period. Look at how much each guy gets paid. Sometimes you don't have to sit down and watch 10 hours of gamefilm on each guy to make an educated guess.

Not me, X...I think Sean Lee moves outside, and Carter is resigned for depth.

I don't think that is near true.
Carter has been mediocre but mediocre happens.
You still need those guys when it is scrub city after them.
Carter has largely been healthy and on the field.
If he doesn't command a large salary and wants to return chances are overwhelming that he does.

Durant is a free agent.
Rolando McClain is a free agent.
Holleman is retired.
Sean Lee will be coming off a missed season making millions.
Wilber can't start even on this bad defense with injuries to 2 starting LB.

Truth is Bruce Carter is the best bet of those guys to come back.
McClain has to navigate the minefield that is his own brain and remain a good price fit for the long term risk.
Durant has to get and stay healthy.
Lee has to prove healthy and then possibly restructure.

Carter is a FA that we will own negotiating rights to. He is uniquely set up to return.

I disagree, a decision here, is purely premature...I'll see your attaboy for Lee, and raise two for Rolando McClain.

My guess.. Ask any GM in the league who they'd rather have, assuming both are healthy; 32 of 32 GMs would take lee at this point. Ro has to prove it over the course of a full season. There is a reason he's bounced around the league and retires twice.

jterrell, the only thing that I don't agree with your look, is that I don't question the mind of a linebacker as a point of observation.

I'll give him this season, and just see where his head is at.

It is a pointless argument.
McClain is better right now because he is on the field.
When Lee does return to the field we'll expect him to play at a Pro Bowl level.

Both guys can be really good given the best of circumstances but neither guy is anywhere near reliable right now.

If Lee at Will, McClain and Mike and Carter at Sam all played and stayed healthy of mind and body we'd have the best LB corps in football.
But reality is a far cry from that as of now.

Wasn't for his play on the field, look again.

just stop.
because that's VERY unlikely.
Lee costs about 5m a year to watch the game while McClain was arguably our best defender week 1 while making 700k.

this entire argument is pointless.
right now Dallas needs McClain badly because they don't have Lee.
