Unfortunate nickname only. There's only 1 cure for knee-jerkitis... logic.

I don't want to be a goombah, I want to be a jabroni.Jarv;3557172 said:How sarcastic. You don't see a problem with penalties on this team over the last few years. We don't suck you goombah, but we could be great if those were cut down.
All I'm asking is why is this, why do we sit up near the top in this category for the last few years ? Lets find out why and fix it.
Is that really too much to ask ?

Cincinnati only had 2 penalties for 5 yards. The Falcons 3 penalties for 24 yards. Chargers 5 penalties for 30 yards. Rams 5 penalties for 40 yards. Browns 5 penalties for 47 yards. Bills 5 penalties for 35 yards.
Most teams would take that. They all lost.
Last year Dallas was penalized 6.9 times per game. I would have taken 6 to 7 on Sunday. I think we win. Heck, just take away Barron's hold and we win.
I don't mind a penalty if it is aggressive. In other words if a player gets a flag for a hard hit or a PI where they go for the ball. I can understand those things happen. Last year 2 teams were tied with us at 6.9 penalties (B-more & Oakland) and 3 were worse. Cincy, Philly, and Green Bay. You know what I notice when I see that? 5 of those teams were in the playoffs.
Let me ask you this. How do you fix penalties? I gotta tell you I am all ears for this. Did you know that Jason Witten is one of our most penalized players? I don't think he is one of our worse players. I hope that's not just me.

Team 1 should have scored 14 points, a holding penalty negated it.
Team 2 did score 14 points and is considered the best Offense in the NFL with the best Offensive mind in the NFL.
Both teams played teams whose defenses are their strengths.
What is the main difference here? There are two. Emotional attachment and too many penalties from our team.
On the penalty front Rex Ryan, a great disciplinary type coach we have been told, his team committed 14 penalties for 125 yards last night.
Morale of this story...don't jump off the ledge after week 1. Hell don't even climb out on the ledge yet.

Maybe we should complain more...and I am being serious.
Team 1 was Dallas. Team 2 was Nawlins.The30YardSlant;3557931 said:Team 1: 3 penalties for 20 yards, played one of the top 5 teams in the NFL, are the defending Superbowl champions and flaunted their unflappable will to win last year
Team 2: 12 penalties for 91 yards, played the NFC East bottom feeder, and has a history of losing games due to mental errors, penalties, and a lack of discipline and fire
Just sayin Hos

Nawlins has a losing History period. If you want to talk about History I'm your Huckleberry. Just say when and we'll find out if you are a daisy.

I am being dead serious here. Tex Schramm once lamented that Dallas was always going to be among the top most penalized teams in the NFL because of him. Referees felt slighted by his vision of instant replay assisting in making important calls. That they were not respected or trusted.Jarv;3557911 said:Me too, its a stat I hate being in the lead in, year after year. I was hoping you could give some insight on that ! Tell me the time frame and let's go to war.The30YardSlant;3558130 said:In the time frame in question, NO has accomplished much, much more than Dallas has. It's sad, but it's the reality of the situation.
They've proven themselves, we have not. Our team simply cannot get out of its own way. Sean Payton knows how to win, knows how to prepare his team and knows how to light a fire under a spoiled NFL player's ***. Wade Phillips...well shucks, he's just a good ol' boy.

San Diego lost to a division rival who has been in the top 5 of the Draft for 3 straight years and has won a total of 10 games in those 3 years where as the Commanders have won 21.
