Until the cowboys fans start putting pressure on the Jones family and make them extremely uncomfortable, I doubt we ever see any change
Hard to hurt Jerry when it comes to Cowboys. Jerry built a lot of buffer companies that are like a blanket as part of the Dallas Cowboys brand.
Which is why the franchise is also worth so much. He really made things so he didn't have to care what fans said, or anyone else.

He isn't stupid when it comes to business. He is just stupid when it comes to football.

???? On what?
On this is such a bad team with such a bad roster. All of a sudden our roster is getting better every week as players continue to come back. Parsons, Bland, Cooks, Diggs, Kneeland, and Lawrence. Our line is improving with healthy players like Hoffman and Bass. I see that you left yourself some room with saying they could go 8 and 9. I'd find it very entertaining if they made it to 9 and 8 or even 10 and 7 and knocked Washington off.

This is why Jerry keeps selling the mirage, because people continue to buy it.
Actually I see fewer Cowboys fans falling for the Jones hype. If anything, they recognize this franchise for what it is, a perennial 8-8 average team that manages to masquerade as a playoff team some of the time.

An 8 and 8 team that was 12 and 5 for 3 straight years.

I agree this is not a good football team.

At this point we hope to agree, each week, that they are a better football team today than they were a week ago.

Being such a young team with so many injuries, many young players are getting opportunities they would not normally have. Many young players, therefore, are better football players than they were 12 games ago.

That's all I got. I'm hoping that we are seeing improvement that is real and can be carried forward.

About 80% of NFL teams cannot maintain their success if their starting QB goes down. That is just the way most teams are now built in the salary cap era. The Cowboys have never been big on QB competition, training, and development.

Cooper Rush is serviceable if the rest of the team is functioning at a high level. However, he and the Cowboys are limited over an extensive period of time if another aspect of the team is struggling.

Last I checked, this is an opinion forum. As with any fan here, you are welcome to believe whatever you want about the Cowboys.

I hear you Bob. However, I can absolutely see JJ resigning MM if the team finishes strong.

JJ loves the status quo and with all the injuries he has more than enough excuses lined up to let everybody off the hook for one of the worst first halfs of a season in franchise history.

JJ trades on hopium. A strong “we are hanging around the rim” finish is exactly what he is looking for.

Just enough positivity to never have to face the music and make macro-changes.
This right here^^^^

The aging, lazy part-time GM has no desire or energy to make any meaningful changes.

Why does it always have to be an "in your face" response w/ you?

I have to admit, though, you have mastered the difficult task of being polite and rude at the same time!!!!

You have probably seen it in a movie or TV commercial sometime. The desperate wanderer who is lost in the desert is so hungry and thirsty that he begins to see things. Like a mirage of an oasis in the middle of the desert, complete with clear, cool water and food. But sadly, it’s not real. It’s a mirage.

Much like the desperate man in the desert, when your favorite team loses 5 games in a row, many of your best players are hurt and worse, has an 82 year old stubborn moron in charge of everything….it makes you desperate to see things that may not be there.

When I look at this Cowboys team on an improbable two game winning streak, I realize - this is still not a very good football team. It’s a mirage. Don‘t get me wrong. I’ve always said and still believe winning is always good for an NFL team. But it can also be a mirage.

I will never criticize or fault a Cowboys fan who is excited about a Cowboys win or who has hope that this two game winning streak means something in the big picture. But I cannot pretend that I believe this 2024 Cowboys team is somehow a good football team. It’s has just enough talent to be in lower half of mediocre teams. Maybe they finish 7-10 or 8-9. Meh.

The real hope for this team IMO lies in CHANGE, not keeping the same cast of characters in charge doing things the same way for the 30th straight year and us fans somehow seeing a mirage of an oasis. Whatever brings change, I want it. Whatever brings false hope, I’m tired of it.
Winning meaningless games this year gives false hope, and statistically lowers our chances of getting quality starters in the draft.

I think you know this Bob.

We could go on a 15-0 run if we play the bottom 15 teams. Then we could go 0-15 if we play the top 15 teams.

There is going to be outstanding players available if they pick 10 or 16. The real interesting part is where Ashton Jeanty goes and how his career pans out. He could very well become the best running back in the league. Also, 1 or 2 of these defensive tackles will become one of the best in the league. Tyler Warren could become the best tight end in the league. Watch him end up in Philly or Kansas City.

The roster isn’t all that awful. It’s not. It simply has been left with gaping holes that talented coordinators have exploited when it mattered most.

That’s 100% on management.

The problem moving ahead is they claim cap poverty as is, and are more worried about retaining the rest of the gang that clearly isn’t good enough…so how are we ever supposed to improve any time soon?

Is there? You don't really comprehend odds, I take it?

Jerry is happy on the cusp and hanging out at the rim.

I think most would agree. But what hope is there of the CHANGE at the top we all yearn for ? Unfortunately that is the false hope.

Beating a pathetic Giants squad on Thanksgiving did not make me forget the Green Bay game last year of the way the season started this year. It was fun and exciting and for this team a pretty big accomplishment. As far as making the playoffs and competing for a super bowl forgive me if I play a little wait and see.

Once we accept there is NO hope for the change at the top then you have to come to terms in what this franchise has been reduced to. And adjust your expectations accordingly.

Otherwise you’ll continue beating your head against the wall. We don’t have to like it but it is what it is and what we have become .

For me as a Diehard I’ll continue watching each game not walking away like some have , I live for each game . 60 minutes individually to root for each week.

And winning is much more fun than losing even if I know at the end of the season it may not lead to the playoffs or any success in the playoffs.

This is what our once great championship caliber franchise has been reduced to under Jethro. Apathy set in years ago. Make of it what you will.
