A question about the QB

Sorry that you found it so hard to follow along. Glad you were able to catch up.

The the B!G does play big games...it's a tough conference that goes out and 4-5 deep plays other conferences regularly.

My comment was not really to directly answer your question and be subjected to your objections. But...to show an instance of NCAA historic achievement against other NCAA HIGHER talent.

Sorry you object to it so much.

you do you man......Zeke was great in college.....its really easy to type. In fact you can both love Zeke as an OSU fan and be a fan of Dak because he is the QB for the NFL team you like. Its crazy that way you should try it.

Heres YOUR quote.
It's my opinion that he never face(d) the same competition or big games as other college QB's.
.

The SEC is the most competitive with the strongest teams and with the biggest games in NCAA football.

I use zeke as my crowning achievement of NCAA achievement. The 2014 national championship....he face the top 5 teams in all of the NCAA of that year. . Michigan, Wisconsin, the mighty Bama and the media darling Ducks.

The first "playoff" of the NCAA.

He put like 750 yards, 8 tds in the final 2. Against the very best the NCAA had.

Dak?
Played his last two years in college in the SEC West, the toughest division in college football and faced Bama, Auburn, LSU defenses.

All he really wanted to do was show off Zeke NCAA accomplishments.....Im guessing he a buckeye that is really bad at making points on a forum.

Easy this conversation sends him into a serious medical condition where he types things that make no sense.... he is about to tell you you hate Zeke.

The few times I do,, I criticize Aikman because he is dead wrong with his belief that you can't improve your accuracy as a passer. He's 100% wrong about that.
I agreed with Aikman up until I saw Prescott because habits are established early on with QB's and changing their mechanics is a tall order.

I respect Aikman for speaking up and saying he was wrong about this QB. He went from accuracy can't be fixed to they need to re-sign this QB.

But I still believe Aikman would be right about 98% of the QB's coming into the league. Archie Manning thought it was so important he had professional QB coaches for his sons so they wouldn't develop the trait he could never get rid of, the wind up. He looked more like a MLB pitcher but he could get away with it,

My thoughts exactly. Accuracy typically doesn't improve because it takes SO much longer to correct a skillset than is does to develop one. Aikman would be right almost all the time.

You do not have to participate in it.

I think Dak is what he is. Extremes on both sides want Dak to be a certain thing that exaggerates aspects of his game.

But he’s played like a top 10 QB up to this point. Partly it’s because he’s done a bit better than the other guys middling in the 11-15 spots, and partly it’s because of a slew of recent retirements: Brees, Rivers, Luck. But he’s there now and he deserves it.

It may seem like homerism is a fun, positive thing, but making Dak out to be this mythical figure only stirs up the people who downplay his abilities. Those posters feed off one another

How exactly has me or anyone tried to make him out “to be this mythical figure”?

What has Elliott at OSU got to do with Prescott at Miss St?

Elliott was a stud at OSU and a better ball player than Prescott was at Miss St.

This is more about how they have improved since joining the Cowboys and has Elliott actually improved? Granted, he plays a higher contact position but I do not see where he has improved since he turned pro and we're talking about the 4th pick and the 4th round pick here, little bit of a difference.

One thing that puzzles me a little. We know how the Joneses and Garrett felt about Romo and we know Booger loved to watch him play. I would have liked to have been the fly on the wall with the discussions going on about a healthy Romo v the rookie QB. Romo didn't even ask for his old job back, just to compete for it and they said no. That's some damned powerful mojo Prescott had working for him.

It still astounds me. The guy can't win the starting job in HS, college or the pros and needs both QB's to go down in Dallas and once he gets the job, no one can take it away from him. I have never seen one like this before. If I didn't know any better, I would say it looks like fate blocking for destiny.

Yes, I know, another Dak Prescott thread but this one isn't really about him, it's about your perception of him as the DC QB.

Has your perception changed and why?

I am one of the few that watched him throughout his days at Miss St from being the starter as a junior, because I watch a lot of SEC, and his story connected with me as I had lost the person closest to me to the same monster.

He got on the Heisman watch because of his legs and the better defenses in the SEC took that away from him his senior season and forced him into more of a pocket QB. He did not look comfortable to me.

He got picked in the 4th, about where I thought he should go because accuracy on a consistent basis was not his game.

I was aware of how he got his HS and college starting jobs in the same manner but also intrigued as to why the starter couldn't take the job back. Little did I know this 4th rounder, longshot to not be on the PS to start the season, was to repeat what he did with Dallas as he did in HS and college.

I am not in either of the extreme camps regarding him, I am somewhere in the middle but I used to think just as Aikman did, you can't fix accuracy and he hasn't to the point of being Brady or Rodgers but he most definitely has improved in that area. He will still make those errant throws but what QB doesn't?

I am just interested to see how many are in that camp with me? Because that QB that started 2020 didn't even resemble that QB I watched at Miss St. Not even remotely.

I have seen this man work on his game and improve every season and I am intrigued as to where is his ceiling? How good can he be?

BTW, this isn't about how much he's being paid because I don't care about that. They had few options to signing him and this is just about how has your perception of him and his talent changed since he became a Cowboy.
I am with you.
I neither hate nor love Dak as a player
I accept him with his strengths and limitations.
I like him as a person, and wish him the best.
I hope he excels and has a great year.

Zeke was a stud RB in college. I don't think that was the topic here. Still, Zeke's college career landed him as the fourth overall pick.
But to answer the hanging Dak question at the end of your comment, Dak didn't do much in college.

That’s an exaggeration but you are without a doubt the #1 Dak fan on the site or maybe AC and some of your threads bring out the haters. You are pretty enthusiastic about our QB let’s just word it like that.

and that’s coming from a Dak fan

Yep and I thought about it before starting another Dak thread but I was more interested in the perceptions of how he might have changed some minds. Because he has changed mine.

I didn't have a lot of confidence in him to be able to change his mechanics but I underestimated that drive his Mom instilled in him. That lady did a superb job of instilling confidence in him and belief that he could become what he wanted to be, the QB of the Dallas Cowboys. And they had to fail twice in pocking other QB's ahead of him, QB's no longer in the game, to give him his chance.

Is it just me about how weird the circumstances are with his career and how he should end up with the team of his dreams? So many things had to fall into place for him to get picked and then for him to get the job.

Guilty as charged. I think he’s got everything it takes to lead the team.
