Kouandjio. 20 year old OT. Even though he had injury issues he was dominant at Alabama.
LT - Tyron Smith
LG - Trai Turner
C - Travis Frederick
RG - Doug Free? idk
RT - Cyrus Kouandjio
Yummy.
We've worn out the discussion on pick #16 but I haven't seen any kind of consensus on our 2nd round pick. Obviously its hard to predict who will and won't be there, but who are some realistic options you see us targeting?
For me barring any major drop: Attoachu, Easley, Joyner, Crichton
Cyrus Kouandjio has bust written all over him......His combine performance was pathetic. I'd seriously not draft the guy. Throw in all the medical concerns and it amazes me people are still talking about him being picked in the 1st round.
In order:
Ward
Easley
OL

They really have to find somebody that can be the top backup OG in 2014.Any suggestions on 2nd round o line that will realistically be there? Not sure I see 1 worth pulling the trigger on in the 2nd provided Bitonio, Moses, and Juwan James go as high as currently projected.
I propose that they have a week between the 1st and 2nd round next year. LOL.Any suggestions on 2nd round o line that will realistically be there? Not sure I see 1 worth pulling the trigger on in the 2nd provided Bitonio, Moses, and Juwan James go as high as currently projected.

I would prefer Billy or Trai Turner in the 3rd, but I don't know where they will get picked.
Can James play OG in 2014? He is one of the more "ready now" OTs in the draft.
Many of the pass rushers probably go before #47.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a WR picked at any point.
If they were to trade down in the 1st, then it would be easier to consider trading up in the 2nd. That would bring more of pass rushers back into play.
Parnell has shown to be a legit backup and reports are that Weems has made significant progress. They have Zero depth at OG. I'm fine not drafting for need with the exception of OL. You have to have a good OL when you have a 34 year old QB with back problems. There does not appear to be much available in free agency at OG and Waters appearently never had the required surgery that was needed for him to play again.James can not play OG but I think we can take a guy later who could be a decent OG prospect. To me, the value of having James or another quality OT more then makes up for the Guard concerns because of pending contract issues with Free. Not only do I not want to pay Free more money, which we will almost certainly have to do if we extend him but, we will also still have to draft or sign another OT IMO because I'm not sure we have another RT on the squad.

I agree with the general concept for future years, but they don't have anything at backup OG for this season.I think Parnell is a decent Swing Tackle but I don't believe he's a RT. Weems is a guy they are trying to develop but he's not a guy I'm looking at starting in the next year or so, which means that we will either have to extend Free or sign a starter. That will be much more expensive then going out and signing a decent Guard IMO. If we can get a good Tackle option, I think we draft that guy because you can pick up a good Guard at almost any point in this draft or in FA. Financially, it makes more sense to sign a Guard then it does a tackle IMO.

If Weems is ever going to start, he should be ready by 2015.
Have you reviewed Parnell's game footage in depth?
My list for guys I would be interested in at 47:
Marqise Lee (WR, USC)
Jimmie Ward (S, Northern Illinois)
Timmy Jernigan (DT, Florida State)
Lamarcus Joyner (S, Florida State)
Demarcus Lawrence (DE, Boise State)
I watched all of the snaps that Weems took in the preseason with the Cowboys. No, not in detail. I have watched him play when given the opportunity but I can not say that I have made a specific attempt to break him down. However, I will say that from what I've watched of Parnell, I don't think he's a long term answer at RT. I think he's a swing at best but I could be wrong. I have to be honest, I don't have a lot of confidence that Weems is the answer. He has relatively little experience and it's hard to know what he can be. I would not recommend going into the season with Weems as the primary backup at RT. Maybe the Cowboys feel differently but I don't know. Unless the Cowboys feel like Free is going to be the long term answer at RT, I think they have to draft somebody and start getting them ready for a starting role in the next year or so.
