Crayton definitely earned his check today.

Hos - I think Flozell Adams is done.

What in the world makes you say that? I saw him miss a blitz pickup and although I didn't watch the game as intently as usual he played about the same as always.

Most here are not giving GB its due either.

Besides the obvious flat play and poor execution I'm particularly disappointed in the play calling. It gave us no way to stay in this game. Not saying we would have but at least he could give us a chance.

Bad game all around. Glad to be 6-3 still and atop the division. Things could be much worse. Maybe they got this one out of their system. Only thing to be happy about is the defensive play. It was good enough to win most games. And that has been consistent over the season for the most part.

he looked good to me.

The problem with losing columbo is that he is the leader on the line, he is the emotional guy, he is the guy that likes the fight in the trench. We lose more than just his physical ability.

Hopefully we find out that we have a player in free.

and now we answered our own question. also, notice the sacks after Columbo left.

I disagree that they were flat. I didnt see a flat team. I saw a team that made mistakes, took some tough injuries and then had a couple of big momentum changing calls go against them get beat. GB played well in the second half.

Green Bay got boo'd off the field in the first half. Had romo hit austin for the Touchdown or williams not fumbled or killed the other drive we probably find a way to score and the game is different.

But we lost. It happens. Just dont lose the next two and everything will be where you want it.

But in no way did I see a flat team.

The pressure romo was under today is the same pressure he has been under for awhile now. The interior of our offensive line are making a ton of mistakes picking up blitzers. They did against atlanta, seattle and philly also.

The free guys today were right up the middle or to his left.

We will find out about Doug Free now by the end of the season. We will miss columbo, hopefully the good that can come out of it is that we find out Free can play.

Our coaching is an inherent deficiency within our team, a deficiency which will not fix itself and a deficiency which will be our downfall every year until something drastically changes. To say that people who recognize this are overreacting is both condescending and intellectually dishonest.

You have been dying to say this for the last four weeks haven't you?

I'm definitely glad to be 6-3 and on top of the NFC East as well, and there was some poor execution across the board; the playcalling also looks like it was pulled straight out of the Kansas City gameplan.

It just seems that Flozell is showing his age - on a lot o the blitzes on Romo's blind side, the edge rusher appears to usually beat Flozell on the outside untouched - they don't even give him a move and go back inside, just straight around the edge.

I don't have any issues with the corner blitz - Green Bay disguised that blitz very well. I'm just not sure Flozell has the speed to continue to play left tackle in an offense like ours that requires a little more athleticism at the position.

But it's possible I'm just magnifying Flozell Adams in what was generally a poorly played game across the board by the offense. When the defense holds the opponent to 1 TD and 1 FG through 3-1/2 quarters of play and the offense can't get in the endzone...that's just an egg-laying session.

We are not done losing either. With 7 games left, we are not going 7-0.

I agree. It's Colombo's leadership that will be missed.

It would be comparable to losing Brooking to injury.

I've been saying it every week for the past two seasons

why would you fault the coaches today? We had guys wide open drop balls, fumble, miss throws etc...

If jenkins and hamlin do not get hurt, along with newman and ware missing plays on that drive they probably dont score and it would have been 3-0 still in the 4th qtr.

Its just one of those games.

Hopefully Jenkins is OK, it seems like Columbo is done for the year. Our Offense has issues that are far more the RW dropping balls or DC's taking away Witten. JG has turned our run game into something that does not fit our featured back. This is a big physical line with a very physical starting RB in M. Barber that can not pound on teams because of the play calls. The running plays are terrible. The smart guy from princeton is over thinking the run game and most everything else is a result of the what happens on the line of scrimmage.

My guess is that Columbo will be sorely missed in the running game. One of the big wraps on Free has been lack of strength, if thats the case it will certainly show on the right side in the run game.

Many things have been going pretty well during the 4 game win streak. Losing sucks but this one doesn't hurt us in the division too bad thanks to some help from the Chargers.

Hopefully this sobers us up a bit and keeps us in that "improving, learning, working hard, moving forward" mode the team has developed so far.

I think it's obvious the Colombo injury is big deal, but you're going to have a big injury during the season in this league and the good teams get around it.

But, I will tell you my bigger concerns.

Flozell and Gurode.

Both were horrendous today while Free looked pretty good. But when you have a Commanders team that plays pretty good defense with Haynesworth at DT and Carter at WDE and Orakpo at SLB, that could be an issue.

The good thing is I thought there were a lot of players that played well (Spencer, Ware, Igor, Jenkins, Newman, Romo), but a few players who played really bad (Roy, Flo, Gurode).

That illegal hands to the face call on Mike Jenkins was terrible and bogus. The official just gave the ball back to GB and took points away from Dallas.

Scandrick made the play of the half and they blew the play dead when it looked like they should not have and they took the ball away from us.

Then they gave Green Bay the ball deep in our redzone when Feliix Jones recovered the fumble. The refs blew the calls, and it was absolutely no excuse for both of those calls. Horrendous!

Jenkins should have handed his helmet to the official and asked him to play the game.

Wade Phillips should have gone off on someone after both of those calls, especially that bogus call on Jenkins.

I may be in the minority, but I consider the loss of Columbo and Jenkins to be far bigger than losing the game. I will be watching for news of them all week and wondering. We had been sort of blessed with no big injuries and just like that, two in one game. That hurts.

Look, I said last week we would lose again and there wouldn't be any need to over react. It still holds true. It is hard in the NFL to win back to back game on the road in big situations. On the positive side (yes, there is one) the Eagles also lost so we maintain our lead in the Division. That is the big picture at this point.

Turnovers and time of possession. We lost these key indicator stats. Three turnovers to zero and a nearly 12 minute deficit in the Offense holding the ball. You can't win in the NFL with those kinds of stats unless you get stupid lucky. When you add double digit penalties to the mix, you might as well look to next week's games because this week is gonna suck.

It sucks to lose. No one who is a fan likes it. But if we had to lose one of these two games, I will choose this one over the Eagles to lose every day of the week and every year.

It is hard to come up with anything positive from this game. About the only thing I can say positive is that DeMarcus Ware got two more sacks and is in top form going into the stretch run. We're going to need him.

I've grown accustomed to the over reactions to losses. I don't know whether that is good or bad. This week there are reasons to be upset because for the first time all year the team truly did not do anything that put them in position to win the game.

Like I said, we're still atop the NFC East. The big picture should still outweigh a bad week, but it won't.

I concur Hos , the injuries has me worried. The loss was diapointing but not as much as the injuries:(
Only thing Good about this game is that they finally socred and kept us from a shut out.

They will come out and whip the 'skins next week and all will be well again... beat Oakland four days later and rest a bit with an 8-3 record.

I always look forward to reading the weekly "Touch of Hostility" posts.

Why will all be well again? Why will beating two of the worst teams in football at home prove we are going to be ok?
