GB is a good team, despite their record. Their offense has been great all season, and Rodgers has a season ranking only behind Brees, I believe, in the 100's and higher than Romo. Their problem has been Dom Capers defense...he hadn't been blitzing as much, expecting to get the pass rush from Kampman as OLB, and he stank. Today, Kampman was out, and it was blitz city.
Also, someone before the game had said part of the reason their secondary had been so poor was because they are big, bump and run guys, and Capers had them playing 8 yards off the ball all the time. Tonight, they went back to a lot of bump and run for the first time this season.
Let's also not forget that when a good team plays poorly and loses to a team like TB, who just won their first game of the season against GB last week, that team is going to pull together and play their guts out after that embarrassment.
Nothing about GB's game should have been too surprising. Dallas didn't play all that poorly...we actually seemed to play conservatively on offense while the game was close.
I think the two critical plays, even bigger than Roy's fumble (that happens to everyone), were the Romo fumble-Felix recovery and fumble (7 points) and Romo forcing an int. to Witten on first down (-7). Despite being dominated physically, that's a 14 point swing.
I expect us to come back next week against the Commanders with a little of the desperation that GB played with tonight.
This is the NFL...it's going to be an up and down year. Right now we're in first in the NFC East with two home games coming up.
Go Cowboys.
