I was glad to see Barber and Jones running like they did at the beginning of the season. They look healthy. I think Jones should wear the brace in practice, since he wears it in games....that way he will feel more comfortable in games. I would like to see more screens and bubble passes to Jones. Get him out in open space and let him abuse defenses.

I want to take Jones off KR. Give me Ogletree and Choice. Save Jones for the offense.

I loved seeing Bennett finally get involved. I would like to see Witten running those same types of routes that Bennett was running. No way can a defense handle both our elite TEs downfield...one of them would be open.

I would like to change the setup of one play. On that play where Witten catches the ball right after he peels off a block, but seems to only get a few yards........I would like to see us use Austin or Crayton, and allow their speed to take over once they peel off the block.

I would like to see a faster pace to our offense....not so much the pure hurry up, but just a better sense of urgency. Maybe treat each play as if there were a 15-18 second play clock.

Where did the reverse go? What about play action? I think with success in the running game, both of these plays would be effective for us.

Props to our D. Poor Spencer is so close, yet so far to that breakout sack. Brooking is a beast, sure wish he was 5 years younger. Jenkins needs to keep his hands down....stay away from the face. I think we got lots of pressure today, Campbell just acted like McNabb and found ways to avoid it.

My boy is killing me....what happened to Folk?

at any rate, I am happy with the win.......and i dont care if it was ugly. i am realistic in that rivalry games are about as predictable as hurricanes and women.

7-3 is a great place to be right now.....especially since our fate is in our own hands....

Washington has the 4th rated defense.

They have the number one pass defense, statistically.

They have the number two scoring defense.

Dallas is number 1 in scoring defense.

You guys that are upset with a beautiful 7-6 win, probably will not like

the 14-10 or 10-7 or 9-6 or 16-14 game they play the next time.

Yeah, and they were without Haynesworth who pretty much anchors their defensive front. Offensively, Washington is pretty beat up too with Cooley/Portis/Betts/couple of their linemen hurt.

We should have beat them by more than one @ home, and not needed 2 missed field goals to win.

Sometimes you have to exploit the mismatches and no one matches up with Jason.

I would think getting Martellus Bennett deep on some seem routes would eventually take some attention off Jason Witten. M80 had a good game today catching the ball and is the biggest mismatch we have on offense.

Witten is a marked man.

Defenses will only leave him alone when given no alternative.

I was.

The team didn't quit, the offense got points when they needed to and the defense closed the deal with an interception.

Yes, there was a boatload of negative things that need correcting, but the team never panicked and got the job done.

An ugly win? Absolutely. Was an ugly win needed like against the Eagles? I can't say it was. I think we needed a blowout win. Ultimately, I have promised to take the wins regardless of how they happen. I'll take it.

I would call more of a lucky win. Suisham hits one of the FGs and we are probably talking loss here, I'll take it though. Seems like if the team starts slow on offense (except Atlanta) it really does not get on track. Usually for the same reason, start a nice drive, shoot themselves in the foot. I blame the players execution more than I blame coaching.

Oh dont even try that mess. Have you seen the QBs they've faced?

Outside of Eli and McNabb they've played Bulger, Stafford, Josh Johnson, Cassel, Delhomme, Orton, and a slumping Matt Ryan (in a game that ATL led almost the whole way and Turner had 170+ yards)

If you feel Romo and our offense is in that territory in passing, then fine but dont feed everyone this nonsense about their dominant defense. Especially since they are 25th against the run, so teams that have played them haven't needed to pass.

They've faced some of the worst offenses in the league, which is why their current record made them a laughing stock, they were losing to crap teams.

I am ecstatic to be 7-3 and that last drive may be something we look back on as a make or break drive for the season, however...

I'm not blind to the fact that this team looks flat...that had this been the Saints, Patriots, etc that the Cowboys would've lost by 2-3 TD's.

The encouraging piece of this is that the wins are still coming more than the losses, so they have a chance to fix what is going on without the season slipping away.

Roy Williams...that's another story. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as the majority of Tony's passes were not catchable, but I'd like to see more effort from the guy.

I agree with you Hos. I've been saying we need to send Witten deeper than we have been. We are not using him like we have been in years past. 20+ routes would be welcomed here and there.

The only other thing I would probably want to see more of would be more running attempt in the red zone and 3rd/4th and short, rather than going to shotgun. Shotgun works as a change up to throw off the defense, but not as our base short distance offense.

I agree with Witten. We seem to be using him in the Sean Payton fashion...a safety valve. I want him more used in longer passes giving LB's fits and forcing safeties to pay attention to him. And when a team like GB has the gall to put a CB on him, then run right at them.

I think that running the ball was a good if not GREAT thing. We ran the ball really well and that is a strength of ours. The problem is that our QB needs to be on his game when the running game is going well. And for the love of all that is holy, how about a play action pass once in awhile? Y'know...something that makes the QB's job a bit easy and opens itself to a big play because the running game is working so well.

What really hurt the offense was Romo had a poor game. I'm also a believer that it effects his reads because it seems when he's accurate, receivers also get open. When he struggles with accuracy, he can't find anybody.

However, we saw this about 6 weeks ago and he came back and played well. And hey, I WILL ALWAYS TAKE A WIN OVER THE Commanders. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS. 'Moral Victories' are for losers.

YAKUZA

the only problem with using witten on deep routes like most of you want, including me, you cant for one basic reason

teams if you notice are doubling witten, and when they arent you have to realize that witten has to stay in and block some now that doug free is blocking. Witten has to chip some, to give romo some more time to throw.

What i see is this, our wrs arent getting open in 1st and 2nd quarter, which makes it harder for the offense to function effectively.

The next 3 weeks you will see how good the cowboys are after the oakland game.

And if you think we can play this way in the game up in dc against the Commanders, your kidding yourselves.

Why, the Commanders didnt have haynesworth today, portis, one of their offensive linemen got hurt today, just like betts got hurt.

Dont know yet if cooley will be able to play in that matchup or not, but it might be critical that we can win that game up in DC.

I saw another thing not sure if you all saw it or not, but from what i could tell in certain passing situations, Sensabaugh seemed to be sitting down in coverage on runs and passes, like the last line of defense. Could be possibly that is what the cowboys are wanting the safety to do like ken hamlin was doing, kinda like the cover 2 tecnique, you dont allow defenders to get deep behind you. I think that the cowboys are having sensabaugh stay back in coverage and run support as last line of defense.

Just my thoughts, but go back and look at some footage, you dont see sensabaugh too much in run support and most of the time back in pass coverage.

Till watkins steps up, we might be in trouble covering the center of the field on pass coverage, those routes were mostly open tonight.

Ball is still learning and improving, but watkins who has been here like 5 years isnt doing the job he should.

I''ll take the win in the first half of the Thanksgiving week doubleheader.

We need to run but we need balance! At least the defense is looking good.

Now, we must beat Oakland to get to 8-3 as I see a 2-3 end of season record. 10-6 would get us in though.

We needed the other teams FG kicker, who had been perfect this yr to miss two in a dome to outlast a team that was totally outmatched from a talent standpoint. They're down to 6-7-8-9 type guys on the OL. They were down to their 3rd and 4th RB. They were missing their best receving weapon (Cooley). Their QB was benched a couple weeks ago because he was so medicore. They were missing their best defensive player.

Like I said, the Cowboys deserved to lose. We are incredibly fortunate to be 7-3 right now.

I don't know what sports you watch, but the team that has the most points when time expires deserves to win.

The one thing that this game, and the entire season for that matter, showed is that unless the quarterback is playing at a high level, they will have a hard time winning. Fortunately, the Commander offense was pitiful enough to allow Romo to wake up from his coma and salvage things.

Despite the gaudy running stats, unless Romo is passing the ball crisply, they cannot score points. This is why the Raider game will not be a gimme. They have a pretty solid defense, and will make the Cowboy offense work.

+1 Ask the Steelers how they feel tonight losing to a team that took us to OT.

I say the Cowboys will beat the Commanders 17-12 when they play again. I say no team busts 20. 20 would be the max.

Hos, you know in the history of this rivalry, very few wins by either team can be deemed as pretty wins. Yes, there have been some blowouts.....but more often than not, and especially in recent years.....these games are very ugly and very tight, regardless of which team is the better team.
Very valid point that will appease no one. I appreciate the logic though.

Why do you have to ruin such a strong post by Hos? :)
Thank you. I won't respond to him and a couple of other guys when they blather about Roy Williams. Waste of my time. I am glad someone else notices. Thank you again.

Good post Hos... Seriously. My opinions are well documented but the bottom line is we needed the win and we got it. Thank goodness for that. I think I might have had to pop about 20 Rolaids if we had lost that game. I was in a sports bar with about 30 Cowboys fans and about 15 Skins fans sprinkled in amongst the crowd. That place was loud with HTTR chants for a bit there in the 4th Q. (I almost hurled) Then the drive happened and "Let's go Cowboys" could be heard over and over again from a block away. There's still plenty of work to do but it's another W in the books.
I can relate to the Rolaids. I had Tums and wanted my beloved Nyquil.

It’s always an overreaction in the sun-shine world. I don’t think forcing more passes to Witten is the key. Teams have decided to take him away on 3rd downs. We need more production from the WRs...namely the man that wasn’t mentioned in the original post. Until he can contribute...i don’t think this offense can work. Maybe benching him would?
I didn't? What is this?

I was pleased with the running attack today overall. I just wish they would have been more explosive in the red zone. I think controlling the football with the run and passes to the TEs brings the deep stuff to Austin and Williams and Crayton back.
Or do you mean someone else?

The over reaction I was talking about was from me. Sorry to burst every bitter bubble.
