If you want a starting caliber guard, you can trade for him.

But you'll have to give up a good player in return with a low salary.

Bruce Carter, Terrance Williams, James Hanna, Jermey Parnell, Demarco Murray......

They're not going to give up a starting guard for your aging veterans or backup nobodies.

Manning has never "needed" a great WR corps, same as Tom Brady. One great one and a bunch of random guys, typically.
