**Aaron Hernandez charged with murder/released by Pats** - Update post #247

Not unprecedented at all. You forget Rae Carruth. Not only premeditated, but conspired to do it. Panthers didn't release him until he skipped bail after Cherica Adams died.

I remembered Carruth. I should have added that Hernandez may be the guy who pulled the trigger as being the unprecedented part for an active player. Carruth had a buddy do the shooting for him.

I'm kind of surprised with all the media storm over this that there haven't been teammates tweeting about this. You know all the "he's a really good guy" stuff.
Patriots players are well trained to keep their yaps shut.

I just went to his twitter page. One of his last tweets was a quote by Coach Landry- "A winner never stops trying."

I agree with one of the comments. I am amazed he managed to stay out of trouble before all of this happened.

For the lazy...

This goes beyond stupid. What's beyond Dumber and Dumberer? I'm surprised he didn't do a butt call to 911 during all of it.

I just can't figure out why so many young folks think this is cool and an image they should try and copy.I really fear for the future of our country.

I can't decide what is lamer. That studded tshirt, the handgun, or going into the bathroom to take a picture of yourself with them. Also the hand-tattoo.

The bathroom pic for sure. It's like hey world look at me i have a .40 cal I'm tough. The man was a really damn good TE he could have opened up football camps and taught kids how to play the game.He could have done great charity work. Instead, he choose to hurt other people and be a complete menace to society.

Unfortunately it is an epidemic that spreads beyond the youth of America, kids in Bermuda (my country of birth) are so caught up in this "gang mentality" it's frightening .

Former teammate: “I have never believed in anything Aaron Hernandez stood for.”
By Tom Archdeacon | Wednesday, June 26, 2013, 01:17 PM

I’ve known Matt Light a long time and I have never - and I mean NEVER - heard him speak ill of another player, not even a defensive linemen like the New York Giants’ Osi Umenyiora with whom his classic battles in the NFL trenches have included some extra-curriculars after the whistle.

But Tuesday when I asked the former New England Patriot star tackle about his old teammate - tight end Aaron Hernandez - his easy smile quickly vanished and he went silent for several seconds as he decided what, if anything, he would say.

“I never talk about other guys, but I will say I have never embraced - never believed in - anything Aaron Hernandez stood for,” Light finally said.

The recently-retired Light - who won three Super Bowl rings and went to four Pro Bowls in his 11 year career - insinuated that Hernandez, with whom he played alongside for two years, has always had his own agenda - and it wasn’t a good one.

Wow!

I did not listen to Galloway and Company yesterday, but can still imagine Randy's bellowing voice:

"If this happened in Dallas, would Jerry cut bait like the Patriots did today?"
