Oh no. McClain is the 1st player to rehab an injury outside of his team's facilities.

The Guy clearly has a lot of issues going on........and I suspect this will be his last year in Dallas..

no excuse for him to be rehabbing away from the team. Now Red is saying they aren't sure he will show up to mandatory minicamp?

Dude sure doesn't act like he wants to play football. Pretty sure this is why every other team passed on the chance to sign him this offseason.

I would be shocked if he makes it another year.

9) I have yet to see Anthony Hitchens blocked on a running play while lined up as the middle linebacker. His nose and movement to the ball is impressive. He and Sean Lee were also paired together on the field as nickel linebackers, which gives this defense two guys that can find that ball and go.

Just a thought on the matter.... Ro Mc is a thumper no doubt but if he can't be reliable then I'm a little more confident that we will be alright.

I am not done with him and he clearly does not enjoy practice, but it certainly seems like he could do a better job of communication with the team. I will be a little more worried if he is not showing for mandatory practices.

Nobody is sure if linebacker Rolando McClain will make an appearance at next week's mandatory minicamp, even his head coach:

When asked directly if McClain would show up next week, Garrett said, "Yeah, I don't want to get into much more detail than that."
The mystery continues..

I think the phrase "it's always something" sums his situation up very well.

He defines the term 'high maintenance'. I think the Cowboys have a great team atmosphere and a terrific support structure in place and there's probably not a better place for McClain to be. I hope for the best with him, but at the same time am not about to invest in his jersey, as he looks to be on a short-term basis with the team until proven otherwise.

All I care about is him being available Sunday..

This isn't a Claiborne situation where the guy never developed because he doesn't practice.

McClain can rest all he wants as long as he is available on Sundays.

Guess where Ray Lewis, ed Reed Rehabbed their injuries, I will give you hint there were no ravens on the building. This more common than you realize.

Are you suggesting RoMc is at the level of those two guys?

No just stating that players rehab away from team facilities all the time. but I also believe RoMac is a level below those guys, when he is on the field.

I'm not a fan of McClain's, because he's mentally unreliable. But there's no doubt he's a catalytic player on the field. He's one of those Jimmy Johnson players who gets special rules as long as he can produce, as far as I'm concerned. But I don't have to like him. I worry about him putting himself above the team when he misses practices in-season consistently but plays so well on Sundays (I don't mind him missing voluntary anything, btw).

In any event, here's Nate's description of Jimmy's approach again. I always found it really interesting that he didn't even worry about being fair.

Good post
I kinda feel the same
But the main reason I don't worry much about him on the field is I think hitch can play the middle and be very good at it
I think hitch is a very good player who really allows us to be able to deal with a guy like romac

I agree with this. I think one of the reasons Dallas gave him only the one-year deal this year is because he's unstable. The Cowboys don't know exactly what to expect from him off the field and leading up to games, but they know what they can expect from him in games.

I don't think anything he does will be a major surprise to the team, but the hope has to be he just doesn't do anything to put himself in a bad situation. I think if the worse thing McClain does this year is rehab away from the team, the front office will be high-fiving.

I think that's why he only got the 1 year deal anyway.

I don't think the Cowboys saw him as a long term solution on this team.

I agree. And if he somehow sticks around after this season, it will probably be on another 1-year deal. The team that isn't about to commit to him long-term knows him all too well.

interesting how some here fall all over themselves to make excuses for Claiborne who has never done a thing on the field in comparison to Ro Mac. But those same people crap all over Ro Mac every chance they get.

This is a complete non issue. High Maintenance- yes. GEE the cowboys NEVER have any of those around....
