About "Adam Jones" and "Terry Johnson"...

Other than Kimbo Slice aka "BigDFan5" who says he'd call him "Adam" to his face no matter what Pacman said to him, nobody here would say it to his face. So why call him a name he doesn't prefer behind his back?
Question: What would you think Adam's reaction would be if someone called him by his legal name to his face--regardless of what he previously said to the person addressing him?

Any reason why you're taking this so personally?
Do you ask this in any thread where there's a debate?

Probably, "Actually, I prefer Pacman".

And if you did it a 2nd or 3rd time after that, you're pushing the man's buttons by disrespecting him to his face.

Again, Pacman has said several times recently that he prefers to be called Pacman, the nickname given to him as an infant by his mother. Said it to Mickey and to Brad Sham. So to call him Adam is pretty disrespectful.
Will Adam file aggrevated stalking charges on Nav21?
Eek! Someone told Kimbo my real name!!! :( Don't hurt me, KS!

And by 'pushing his buttons', I wonder what type of reaction he would take?

Would he walk away?

Would he curse and walk away?

Would he spit and walk away?

Basically, would he just walk away? I ask because IF he took some sort of action which could involve law enforcement, he's screwing himself. Doesn't matter if you think someone is disrespecting himself. Taking a swing, for example, and getting arrested for it would not be looked upon favorably by the commissioner.

I hope he'd be smart enough to not take a swing...

Regardless, why disrespect somebody like that for no good reason?

From what I have come to understand, he's an intelligent young man. However, his intelligence hasn't stopped him from making some pretty stupid mistakes.

Until he legally changes his name, he's referring to himself by a nickname. You call it disrespect. I call it personal disillusionment that others do not have to respect. Having your name legally changed to what you prefer is easier than making it rain and a hell of a lot less expensive.

And that really is what it boils down to. Its disrespectful plain and simple.

People talk about us making a big deal about it when they go out of there way to try and make a point and using an uncommon moniker for him.

But that is truly what is sad, the demographic cannot make a compelling argument how we are wrong. instead they say were making too big a deal of it. Further proof that they have zero justification.

Agree 100%. If his name really didn't matter to folks, nobody would be making a point of calling him "Adam".

And if his nickname means so much to him personally, he would get it legally changed.

I'll repost my example regarding my sister.

My sister is 30, has a very hard (for Americans) to pronounce Persian name, but has gone by Amy her entire life. Nobody calls her anything else, and she HATES the Persian name with a passion. Her legal name is still the very tough to pronounce Persian name because she wants to keep it out of respect for the ones who named her. Being called Armaghan is her #1 pet peeve... so yes, it is a big deal to call certain people by their legal first names.

Having the name legally changed doesn't work for everyone. We don't know why he doesn't have his name legally changed to what he prefers. Perhaps it's also out of respect for those who named him.

To the general public, he's Magic Johnson. Period. Perhaps he's not comfortable being called Earvin by those who don't know him well.

And perhaps Pacman and Tank are not comfortable with "Adam" and "Terry" in any situation.

We don't know... but what is crystal clear is that they prefer Pacman and Tank. There is no good reason for fans to call them anything different.

:laugh2: what? I know I don't want to be called by my nickname from people I don't know

and Jerry using PacMan's 1st name, he addresses TO by his 1st name

As long as we're making assumptions, I'm going to assume that people are calling him Adam also as a show of respect towards those who named him.

So there.:laugh2:

I'll make a deal with you, Nav22. I will never again call him Adam when he himself tells me as much.

It's funny. Until this thread, I always used Pacman rather than Adam; however, after reading some of these posts, I now have an insatiable desire to call him Adam.;)

Already read that. Nice story.

His personal choice is to be referred to by his nickname. I respect that. If he wishes for me to address him by his nickname, he'll change it to his real name. Of course, he doesn't have to do jack you-know-what that he doesn't approve of and I will do the same.

His name is Adam Jones. He'll live with it for as long as he wants. Is it disrespectful? If you say so, but what does Adam Jones really care about how I address him anyway?

Sorry but they are the same thing. Ali changed his name because he wanted to. At least Pac was given that name by his mother.

Im also getting a sense that its that certain demographic thats decididng that they should unilaterally call him something different for his own sake.

no it's not, Muhammed Ali's name-change was making a statement against the government

just like how refused to fight in Vietnam

PacMan is just using a nickname, not the same

It is the same. There is no judge to decide what reasons are legit and what aren't. Ali's reasoning is no better than Pacman's.

Yeah, the thread regarding an NFL Network list and a perceived slight towards not recognizing our coach 14+ years ago as a "top motivational coach" is much more important.
what? I know I don't want to be called by my nickname from people I don't know
But Pacman does.

I'm going to ask Nav how Adam is doing, everytime I see him post now lol
