About "Adam Jones" and "Terry Johnson"...

And actually for all the talk of people being nerds or blowing it out of proportion etc lets take a look at the people that are choosing to call Pacman, Adam.

Typically the reasoning is that its a symbol of his old life and as such he needs to put it behind him. The best one i have heard is that he needs to 'prove soemthing' before he will be called that. As if youre anyone to make decisions as to what someone should be called.

The male ego as usual truly astounds.

Its just once again that certain demographic deciding whats best for someone and then trying to project it onto them. Nevermind that his mother donned the name on him and that all of his family and friends call him that or that he himself has stated that he prefers the name as well.

Heres an idea: keep the decisions as to whats best for someone to your kids.

now this is just an internet forum and all that but at the end of the day its disrespectful. When Galloway calls TO Eldorado he does it as a sign of disrespect. When i ask you to call me Steve when i ask to be called Matt, that is disrespect.

So go on and try and make your meaningless stand and ill just call the guy what he wants to be called.

Maybe I shouldn't said religion, I was referring to the fact that, that Cassius Clay and Lew Alsinder changed their names, while Earvin Johnson and Adam Jones simply had nicknames that they are referred to as.

so he needs to go to court to be called Pacman. Give me a break.

You can keep getting your panties in a wad and making a mountain out of mole hill if you want to, but his name is still Adam Jones, I personally call him Pacman like he wants (which I've said numerous times.) I'm saying it's not that big of a deal. There is a difference between calling TO Elderado and calling Pacman Adam.... ADAM IS HIS NAME. Elderado is meant to be an insult, calling somebody by their first name normally isn't, and you're smart enough to know when that is.

So keep whining if you want, but anybody with some common sense can tell the difference.

Saying im whining and various other untruths repeatedly does not make it true. The only one getting their panties in a bunch is you with responses like that one. Your reasoning is specious and despite your attempts to belittle me or my stance i will still call you on it.

its really simple. If someone asks you to call them something and you continue to call him something else then thats disrespectful. There is really no way around that.

Adam has never asked any of us to call him anything in particular

Nor will he ever which is why its so funny that so many around here feel it necessary to take this stand with him.

He has stated he prefers to be called Pacman. if you don't want to respect that then so be it.

I simply don't think it's that big of a deal, I call him Pacman..... others don't that's fine. If you want to call people out and question their reasons why, then fine, but I'll just shake me head and let them carry on, because in reality, calling somebody by their first name shouldn't be a big problem.

If you feel otherwise, good for you. I'm just stating my opinion that I don't think it's a big deal, yet I'm the one you are directing your comments towards, even though I've said I refer to him as Pacman. Why get worked up about what somebody chooses to call Jones? That's whining over nothing.

Can anyone tell me how many more days to training camp? Oops, wrong thread. :D

I want to disrespect you, but I'm not sure which name to use.

On the latest Cowboys Blitz, Brad Sham said that he told Pacman that he was thinking about calling him Adam, kind of a new frest start and Pacman told him no... Pacman I'm Pacman.

can we call him mohammad jones? then he's set for boxing.

I pity the poor girl he marries. She'll have to go through life as "Ms. Pacman."

That'll be a step up from her previous handle -- "Star" or "Sugar" or "Delilah."

No, let's keep ignoring what the kid ACTUALLY WANTS TO BE CALLED.

"Calling him by his first name isn't a big deal!"

To you, it isn't. He prefers Pacman. For all we know he HATES the name "Adam", but is keeping it out of respect for those who named him.

My sister is 30, has a very hard (for Americans) to pronounce Persian name, but has gone by Amy her entire life. Nobody calls her anything else, and she HATES the Persian name with a passion. Her legal name is still the very tough to pronounce Persian name because she wants to keep it out of respect for the ones who named her. Being called Armaghan is her #1 pet peeve... so yes, it is a big deal to call certain people by their legal first names.

If you feel like scrapping the nickname of a troubled athlete is appropriate and that YOU know better than the guy and his own mother, whatever. It speaks to your own arrogance and lack of the most basic courtesy.

Other than Kimbo Slice aka "BigDFan5" who says he'd call him "Adam" to his face no matter what Pacman said to him, nobody here would say it to his face. So why call him a name he doesn't prefer behind his back?

It's one thing to call Bobby Carpenter a bust, that's us being fans and critiquing his play. It's quite another to change an athlete's name before he even steps onto the field as a Cowboy because we think scrapping his nickname is best for his "fresh start".

Let's also photoshop pics of him where he has baggy jeans on and replace them with slacks up to his waist!

So when do you guys think Adam will get reinstated?

Will Adam make an impact this year?

Will Adam file aggrevated stalking charges on Nav21?
