3 for 81 and a td in the first quarter. He also had another 15 yard catch called back. I always said if this guy would get serious he could be a very nice Wr, like Hines Ward. We gave up on him too quickly. His attuide was part of it but I also think he was being held back some by Parcells fav players.

Screw him.

We did not give up on him too early. I could care less how he does in the future. He was a problem here and good riddance.

His insubordination during the season was inexcusable. Any player who refuses to get off the field during a game and costs the team a time out in the process has no place on the team.

I agree, with two former Parcells' coaches (Crennel and Carthon) with the Browns. We traded for the wrong receiver, but Detroit has a good young, big wr, Scottie Vines who also plays special teams. Hopefully there will be no room for him on that roster.

I happen to share your opinion. His attitude wasn't the best and you aren't going to throw a jersey in BPs face and get away with it. BUT, he was being held back. He had to take a back seat to Glenn and Key. IMHO he is and was better than both, just not mature as either.

What has AB ever done to show he's a better receiver than Terry Glenn or Keyshawn Johnson? I mean other than beat up the vaunted Detroit secondary in a preseason game.

The really stupid part is if he just shut up and worked he would have started over half the season anyway.

Ok.....I've not weighed in too much on this Bryant-issue. But here goes.

There has to be a certain amount of trust when it comes to team. You have to be able to rely on players doing their part during a game. I don't want to go into a game wondering if one of my teammates is going to do their own thing.

This was Bryant's biggest downfall. He was an exciting receiver. I was excited that we snagged this guy, and I thought he was going to be a big part of our team for years to come.

But we couldn't trust him.......With a game on the line......a playoff spot on the line...who's to say that he'd make the right block, or run the correct route with conviction even if the ball's not coming his way? I don't think a player like this is worth it.

He's a player in the mold of TO. He is talented beyond belief, but doesn't care about anyone but himself. Hopefully, Bryant will grow out of this and become a good player. But I'm glad he's gone.....we don't need cancers.

I really want him to have success.....don't mistake me. But who knows what waiting on him to "grow up" would've cost us?

based on what? bryant hasn't done squat in this league. although glenn and johnson are on the downside of there careers they are much better recievers. bryant couldn't hold their jock straps.

Just a reminder,

There's an Derek Ross thread currently going if anyone feels the need to admit they were wrong that Parcells should have given him more chances.

When he was here he made a few big plays in crunch time. I wasn't saying that AB is better than Key and Glenn were in their primes, but I think he's a better option than they are right now.

Are we going to have AB-regret threads every single weekend this season?

Please tell me we're not.

In your opinion and thats fine. At this stage in all their careers.....Bryant is younger and more explosive and can make more big plays, imo.

Cannot believe what short memories SOME have. AB was an undisciplined MESS. BP gave him a lot of chances to settle down and contribute but he kept right up with his attitude- and he never performed reliably enough to get a pass on it. To try and claim he was better then either Key or Glenn is to be a truly STUPID person. Yes he had the PHYSICAL tools- but that is all. He NEVER showed enough consistently to even be considered for either the #1 or #2 positions. Remember his pattern- a big game followed by NOTHING for 2-3. He did the same last season-both with us and the Browns. I see no reason to expect any difference. AND this is for those that will whine and cry IF he finally does put it all together: can you say it was not the jolt that getting traded and being told that this might be your last stop in the NFL that might have finally woken him up to the point that he takes discipline seriously?

Funny in Parcells PC this week he mentioned that they hire a psychiatrist on staff just to sit down with the player and figure out the best way that they learn. You know Calvin Hill and his staff work closely with players to work on things like anger management.

All that psychiatric help at his disposal, and he's still a nutcase. Good preseason performances will only increase his ego and demands. His next blow up in Cleveland should be spectacular. He was already shoving his QB on the sidelines at the of last year.

It's my opinion. Right now I would take Bryants ability over both Keyshawn and Terry's. His head is the problem. Do me a favor and keep your insults to yourself.

...people are having here is that they are focusing on making the plays you can see on TV. What about the plays away from the ball? Being the decoy? blocking with conviction? Clearing out zones?

AB couldn't get it done here and that part of the game takes maturity and a selflessness that he still doesn't have.

Watch the Detroit game right again on tape and watch this kid on plays he isn't in. It's embarassing. This guy is a "ME" guy and there's nothing this game has shown me to be different in his toolbox.

Not the type of player you add to your team when you want to win a championship! I willing to bet that AB will never be the integral part of a SuperBowl team. His career will be second rate at best until his head gets turned around.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of us actually had a chance to sit down with this kid and talk to him that we wouldn't end up coming the conclusion of immature "punk".

That kind of explosiveness you can take to your PS2 game, but its what separates us from the real football guys. A real vision of what it takes to make it in the NFL.

Sure.

If he bothers to run the right route.

Agreed. Just wait until Braylon Edwards catches on.

If Bryant hadn't run his own routes in games and talked endlessly about needing stats for a new contract in the locker room, he might still be here.

Quincy takes a lot of grief, and deservedly so -- but several of his "game costing" interceptions came on plays where Bryant ran a wrong route, running his defender right into the middle of the play.
