WILL FULLER PROBABLY THE MOST DISASTROUS DOLPHINS FREE AGENT SIGNING EVER
Posted by Ryan VanHoover | Dec 22, 2021 | 2021 season, Dolphins News | 2

In March, the Miami Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Will Fuller. The Dolphins’ goal this past off-season was to add playmakers to build around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Fuller is a speedy receiver who can take the top of the defense. The Dolphins also drafted Jaylen Waddle with their top pick to go with DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki it seemed like an offense that can match up with anyone. However, it’s been a disappointment because of injuries to Parker and Fuller.

Fuller in particular hasn’t played at all other than a game and a half. When Fuller did sign, it was only a one-year contract in part because of his durability issues. He has never played a full 16 game season in his 5 years, but he has the ability to make big plays. Last year he played 11 games, but then was suspended for 6 games because of PEDS, and that suspension carried into this year so the Dolphins knew he would miss the season opener.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Will Fuller V will not play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills due to a personal issue, coach Brian Flores announced Friday. Fuller did not play in Week 1 while serving his sixth of a six-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

How many games has Will Fuller missed?
Prior to signing with Miami, Fuller spent five seasons with Houston. During that time, the wideout missed 26 games due to various injuries. That question has played out as expected in 2021.Nov 5, 2021

Wide receiver Will Fuller signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, but only ended up playing two games in the 2021 season. He missed the first two weeks due to a suspension and a personal matter, then was sidelined the last 13 games with a broken finger.May 9, 2022

I don't think anyone is calling the kid a failure. More along the lines of a front office failure for not securing the position. It was known that WR would be a weakness, especially early, and the only moves they made were drafting a small school project and signing an injury prone player that's already injured. Expecting Tolbert to be ready to step into that WR2 or WR3 role was incredibly foolish.

They signed Washington as a free agent and as it turns out looks like Gallup will only miss 2 games.

It's already been determined that Washington wasn't the right move. Hopefully Gallup comes back 100%. I still have my concerns. Even if he does, we're looking at Lamb, Gallup and a bunch of guys. What happens if another injury happens? The position took a substantial hit this offseason. Coupled with the massive hit the OL took, we could be looking at a problem that could've been avoided.

If rookie Dennis Houston gets the bid over 4th rd draftee Tolbert ..... that's discouraging news - not a good sign for Tolbert, imo

i understand Tolbert may need a year and offseason to regroup and strengthen his body and his game more so,..ala Cedrick Wilson
but to go game day inactive vs a Dennis Houston, tends to suggest the club is not liking what Tolbert delivered this summer- especially
the preseason games.

Really ? ... Who determined that move ?

The fact that he's out for 2 1/2 months. We needed help early until Gallup made it back up to speed. At this point we can only hope he can make a difference down the stretch.

What WR out there or was out there you wanted?
There were a few in the draft that weren't small school projections. Could've traded for some help. Could've not traded Cooper without having a replacement. They could've signed Julio Jones, Sammy Watkins, DJ Chark, JuJu, or Jarvis Landry without taking too much of a hit. Players still available include Fuller, Beasley, Hilton, Hurns, Westbrook, etc etc.

Point being they've had ample opportunity to bring in some help, even after Washington was hurt, and did nothing. If the passing game falters, it falls directly on the shoulders of the front office.

If that's what happens I look at it as a good thing. Teams shouldn't have to rely on rookies to come in and start. Especially day two picks.

Early eye test says Tolbert will be a bust.

But time will tell.

Zero reasons to be disappointed in the kid before the season even starts.

If he does end being inactive, then there sure are reasons. Especially in favor of rookie UDFA who didnt exactly set the world on fire. Even talk of it is discouraging.

Fuller would have been a good signing Because what we need most is a guy for the first few weeks while Gallup is out and/or working his way back into form and the younger guys are brought along slowly. We don’t need him for 17 games, but yes the injuries would be the big concern with him

Beasley would IMO be one of the worst choices to bring in with his attitude, especially around these kids. Dude just doesn’t Shut the $ up and it started before he left here. Had a comment about everything. I think the role he would provide will to some extent be filled by our TEs in the slot and operating over the middle of the field. Also, and I’m not one to say Pollard or Turpin can be a FT slot receiver, but they could get some snaps there also. Lastly, at least early on he “supposedly” was looking for money similar to his last deal which he is not anywhere near worth and he wasn’t even going to play if he stayed with Buffalo so I’m not sure how incredibly productive they felt he could be going forward. We need an outside receiver not a marginal guy who can do nothing but play the slot like Beasley. There is some value but IMO we are better off without him

And that is why I said there is no way they would bring Beasley in. But from a production standpoint he is clearly the best out there.

I just don't see it with Fuller.

Our front office is a representation of the peak of delusion. We "build through the draft" almost exclusively, yet our track record in the second and third rounds is abysmal. You simply cannot have your second and third rounders being inactive if you really want to insist you can build through the draft alone.

Tolbert has the look of a bust to me. He seemed really timid out there in preseason and just flat out not NFL ready. Not saying I loved the pick, but Sam Williams still has the potential to be a Randy Gregory type in my opinion and him being inactive largely has a great deal to do with the very nice depth we have at edge.

I checked. They have a total of less than 8k followers between them. Just some random dudes. Probably post on this site as MountainWhatsHisName and Pappycat.
That's not many at all. I have nearly that many on YouTube already and several times that on Instagram. And I know I'm not an influencer. They are just guys.

Doesn't seem good if the club is going to replace him with a UDFA in Houston. Clearly says over-pick on Tolbert. He may be just fine but overall that's not good if your top 100 player can't beat out Undrafted guys to get on the 53. The TE's are going to have to do a lot of work.
