Doesn't seem good if the club is going to replace him with a UDFA in Houston. Clearly says over-pick on Tolbert. He may be just fine but overall that's not good if your top 100 player can't beat out Undrafted guys to get on the 53. The TE's are going to have to do a lot of work.
Sometimes undrafted guys play like high picks. Drew Pearson comes to mind.

Simi looked like he had no business being in an NFL camp last year in my opinion. But his college highlights really excited me so it was a bit disappointing. Very early, but it appears he has made the jump. If so, he could be a real threat for us.

Tolbert, whether activated or not, doesn't bother me one bit. It could be the want more experience w/o Gallup or he flat out didn't earn it. Whatever the case, the kid just started his career. Even after a few years and he stinks, it happens to every team. And the undrafted kids make rosters every year and some turn out HOF players.

I trust the guys who do our drafting. We've had a few bums, but I bet less than the vast majority of the league.

If rookie Dennis Houston gets the bid over 4th rd draftee Tolbert ..... that's discouraging news - not a good sign for Tolbert, imo

i understand Tolbert may need a year and offseason to regroup and strengthen his body and his game more so,..ala Cedrick Wilson
but to go game day inactive vs a Dennis Houston, tends to suggest the club is not liking what Tolbert delivered this summer- especially
the preseason games.
Tolbert was picked at #88 - 3rd rd.

I'm not concerned at all. I like Brown, Turpin, Fehoko, Houston and Smith. Those guys have a chance of being decent. I think it was more those guys were doing good than Tolbert was bad. Smith was outstanding and didn't make the 53.

David Bell taken a few picks later is the #4 in Cleveland. Danny Gray a few picks after is 5th.

The fourth rounders seem to have the higher upside and had solid camps. Ezukanma is 5th and Doubs / Calvin Austin are about the same.

I think he’s doing well. I think it’s one of those things, we probably asked a lot of him early. In terms of playing all the spots. Both outside and in. Probably gave him a bigger challenge than probably we needed to. But he’s going to be just fine. Obviously we’ve got with him and Houston and Simi some young guys there that are all situational-type guys depending on the team we’re playing. I think they can all step in and really do a real nice job. We’re really pleased with how they’ve come along. Certainly we’ve got Noah who’s one of the more veteran guys without Gallup in there. Then of course we’ve got CeeDee. So it’s a good group out there that we feel comfortable with that we can go win football games with

There's no way to spin this other than it being disappointing if true. However this is a long season so hopefully he shows significant progress over the next 3-4 months.

Think you're placing way too much value in Fuller. If he was as good as you suggest ( to be our #2 WR ), no way in hell he would STILL be out there looking for work. That's 31 other teams that have overlooked this player with the talent to start as your #2 WR. I get your point about bringing in outside help at the position but they did with the Washington signing. I guess since he got hurt, you want them to double dip....

He's a risk given his injury history. So I can see why he's sitting out there.

But I think we have a real WR problem, at least until Gallup and Washington come back. Fuller is likely cheap. I absolutely would have double dipped in FA after Washington got hurt. Unlike the homers around here, I tend to not overvalue young guys just because they are COWBOYZ!!!!

We have limited depth at WR, even when Gallup comes back.

How would Fuller fit? We have plenty of guys already on the IR. In 6 seasons, he has only played 55 of a possible 96 games. IN the last 3 years, it is 24 of 48. Are you really gonna count on that guy? Hilton is pretty much the same boat. Old veteran who can't stay healthy. Played in only 35 of last 48 regular season games.

Beasley fit because he has history with Dak, he has been incredibly durable despite his size, and he has been incredibly productive the last 4 seasons.

I just need Fuller for like 3-4 games until Gallup is back. If you get 12 games out of Fuller, even better.

Beasley is a slot guy. We don't need a slot guy.

Two words with this guy.........not reliable. Which explains why he's still out there.

WILL FULLER PROBABLY THE MOST DISASTROUS DOLPHINS FREE AGENT SIGNING EVER
Posted by Ryan VanHoover | Dec 22, 2021 | 2021 season, Dolphins News | 2

In March, the Miami Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Will Fuller. The Dolphins’ goal this past off-season was to add playmakers to build around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Fuller is a speedy receiver who can take the top of the defense. The Dolphins also drafted Jaylen Waddle with their top pick to go with DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki it seemed like an offense that can match up with anyone. However, it’s been a disappointment because of injuries to Parker and Fuller.

Fuller in particular hasn’t played at all other than a game and a half. When Fuller did sign, it was only a one-year contract in part because of his durability issues. He has never played a full 16 game season in his 5 years, but he has the ability to make big plays. Last year he played 11 games, but then was suspended for 6 games because of PEDS, and that suspension carried into this year so the Dolphins knew he would miss the season opener.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Will Fuller V will not play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills due to a personal issue, coach Brian Flores announced Friday. Fuller did not play in Week 1 while serving his sixth of a six-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

How many games has Will Fuller missed?
Prior to signing with Miami, Fuller spent five seasons with Houston. During that time, the wideout missed 26 games due to various injuries. That question has played out as expected in 2021.Nov 5, 2021

Wide receiver Will Fuller signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, but only ended up playing two games in the 2021 season. He missed the first two weeks due to a suspension and a personal matter, then was sidelined the last 13 games with a broken finger.May 9, 2022

You are looking at it like we want him to be some sort of cornerstone WR for us.

I don't need him for that. I need him for like 5-6 games and everything after that is gravy when Gallup and even Washington come back. Until then, relying on Turpin and Fehoko and Houston is a recipe for disaster.

 All signs point to Gallup returning by 2nd or 3rd game. Why 5-6 games????

I think he’s doing well.

I don't think a 3rd round pick who is supposed to help replace a higher end receiver is "doing well" when they are not active. Maybe he is rawer than the scouting dept saw. I hope he picks it up.

Only thing I can think of us that they are completely selling out to try and run the ball and Brown is the best blocking WR they have. 12 personnel with Lamb and Brown at WR. Or 21 personnel with Lamb and Brown. Trying to run out of both.

I thought Jabril easily balled hard enough to be activated over Luke Gifford.

Not a high hurdle. Gifford is at best a journeyman who hasn't journeyed yet. He's not the kind of guy you want to invest snaps in. He's the kind of warm body you only play if you don't trust the alternatives.

What are they going to do if they go down 21-7? lol This is all so predictable....There is what they "want to do" and "reality". Clown show. You can almost predict it when Jerry started saying "we'd like to get back to being a running team". That went south the moment Tyron went down and they handled the WR room really poorly in the off season. Got rid of Cooper for nothing, know he had an expensive contract but still... It's not good. I know not all are a fan of Cooper but they didn't do much to even help with Gallup. Washington wasn't going to help the WR room either. It's hilarious. They are like "OK we'll sign James Washington and draft a guy in the 3rd round". It's stupid.

They definitely didnt do enough and were unprepared for Tyron. Nobody to blame but themselves. Wanting to run better is a noble and correct thing to work on. But dont be blind. Have to reevaluate now. And especially playing Tampa.

I just have a really bad feeling about this year. Jerry is making monumental mistakes and already we lost Tyron. The one thing that has derailed several of our last 4 seasons.

But the defense does have huge potential if they can stop the run. If they are as bad as they have been, this will be a long season.

To have signed Peters so late and have him not ready for a game or two is inexcusable.

Saw on YouTube that Williams would not be active either. Not sure how legit.
