According to the media and some fans here, the season's over

I think this statement is pretty accurate minus Detroit winning out. No way Detroit beats GB in GB the last week of the season. Also, GB doesn't have a lock on going to the super bowl. Seattle is a team that can beat GB. They have the defense to slow down Rodgers. It probably will be the Pats or Broncos in the super bowl for the AFC. More than likely the Pats. They are the most well rounded team in the NFL right now and will more than likely have home field advantage through the playoffs.

The Cowboys still have a slight chance if they don't become the team of old. Our recent history against teams over .500 is really bad. The odds of us beating Philly and Indy back to back doesn't sound great. We can't even afford 1 loss so we have to win out. I think our odds are extremely slim but you never know.

This post makes me think maybe the OP is right. Negativity and conventional wisdom seem to go hand in hand.

We need to hit our stride to do anything in the playoffs anyway - so this is a good do or die scenario.

Thats why Scandrick has said " every game from now on is a playoff game". He , and the team knows its showtime. They have an opportunity to show real progress.

I for one hope they do.

You have company. Odds are they need to win out to get in. 12-4 seems a little much for this group. I'm expecting a big win this Sunday and then a loss the next week.

But could they get hot and run off a few wins? Sure. They have the formula with the run game. Which is more than I could say prior years.

Agreed.

Going 11-5 and missing out would not affect me any differently than missing playoffs last game of season to go 8-8. We know what we have to do. If we don't win out, we are out. Hey it done or be home. We have been on the other side of this last three years knocking on playoff door at 8-8.

The writing is on the wall. Win out or don't go. We can hope for upsets but they aren't likely to happen. Detroit and the Eagles, after us, have a cakewalk and Seattle is back to being Seattle.

Let's just beat the Eagles Sunday night and go from there. Big stage, big pressure, and an opportunity to come out with a win and with big momentum. It's all there for the taking.

They were manhandled on both sides of the ball the last time they played the Eagles, but some want to simply throw out that fact and believe 'hope' will lead to a win. That loss was convincing, and it was enough to show me how far they still have to go to be a true playoff contender. I don't see a reverse outcome just a few weeks later.
I'm not saying we are going to win. But the circumstances going into the game Sunday night couldn't be more different then the Thanksgiving day game. That alone at least partially dismisses the conclusions you draw from the prior game.

Just to review:

If we finish 12-4 - Division champs and possible 1 or 2 seed (depending on other games)

If we finish 11-5 - Need Philly to lose 2 of 3, or Detroit to lose 2 of 3, or Seattle to lose 1 of 3 (depending on other games)

If we finish 10-6 - Very unlikely we get in. Would need Philly to lose all 3 or Seattle to lose 2 of 3. Some other unlikely permutations involved.

I won't deny what you're saying about the circumstances, but that was a serious beatdown on Thanksgiving and the dominance of both lines left a lasting impression on me. Not so much with a defensive line that still needs more parts, but I was surprised at how well they handled our offensive line.

And their gap integrity in the running game was impressive to me as well. Even well-blocked runs were kept to minimal gains by the Eagles defense. And Fletcher Cox has been playing really well recently and gave our line all it could handle - and then some!

I definitely hope the outcome is different, but as I said, that dominance left a lasting impression.

It's not over! Was it over when the Germans bombed the Alamo? Heck no! I say we go into Medicine Tail Coulee full assault and see what happens before we declare a massacre and call the season.

Apparently I didn't make myself clear and was caught up in trying to be overly sarcastic.

Why is home field an indisputable advantage? Are fans not a factor?

Fans who think they have an impact on the game are just fooling themselves into thinking that they are a part of the actual team. Take Seattle for instance, they've always had a loud and crazy fanbase but they didn't start winning until they got a good coach and good players. Once their good players are gone, they will start losing again even with the loud and crazy fans.

Bright side: Arizona backs into the playoffs with a 3rd string QB. IF we were to somehow be matched up with them, that's an easy playoff win

Nope. You're completely wrong. Seattle always had a great home field advantage.

That's the most wrong thing on the Internet today. Try again and try harder than that last thing.

That's fine, keep cheering from your couch and deluding yourself into thinking that you're a part of the team.

Home "Field" advantage. Do you understand that refers to the advantage the people at the game give the home team? In person Watching and cheering on their team.

That gives teams an advantage.
Fact-brought to you by everyone who at least casually follows sports. Now you've possibly learned something.

You're welcome!!

The beauty in all of this is 60 minutes. Just win ONE GAME. That's all there is to worry about right now. Just win a game. This game is winnable. So I'm not throwing in the towel. No way.
