Adam Schefter: Cowboys Overrated... Peter King Says

Adam Schefter from the NFLNetwork was just on wip610 in Philly. Schefter thinks that the Cowboys are overrated and will have an disappointing season.

To paraphrase what he said is that the Cowboys are the media darlings, being over-hyped for a team that has not won a playoff game in over a decade. He also thinks with all the personalities that this team has, the Cowboys will run into issues that will cost them.

As for Peter King, also on WIP610, said that the NFC East is the best division in football and that each team will beat up each other. The NFC East will not have any team with a first round bye because the Vikes and Seattle will have the first two byes.:laugh2:

Then he goes on saying that the Cowboys will get a Wildcard and sees them doing much of what the Giants did last year. (Again Paraphasing what he said.)

I guess if we all go by what these two morons say, the Cowboys will disappoint and they better look to the 09 FA and draft.

Schefter and Peter King just maybe the worst when it comes to evaluating teams. Neither probably even stepped on the football fields before, except Schefter as the WaterBoy!

wasn't schefter one of the media darlings hyping the boys up like a month ago?

Well, we haven't won a play-off game in twelve years, so people have every right to say we are over-rated...

BTW, the media darlings are the Patriots these days, despite all their cheating...

I predict the Cowboys to finish 4th in the division.

How would being a Wild Card team that wins the Super Bowl be a disappointment? Would you rather we emulate the 2008 Pats and go 18-1?

If I'm reading this post right, Peter King is saying we will get the Wild Card and have a similar season to the Giants last year. I wouldn't be too disappointed if the season wound up that way given the fact that the Giants won the SB.

Um, no. You don't hear much about New England except that they are cheaters and a laughing stock for 18-1. The Cowboys are in the news all the time, thus the "media darlings" reference.

As far as the Cowboys being overhyped, maybe they are, but what does past playoff losses have to do with the coming season? You can predict that they will lose in the playoffs again, but saying they're overhyped this year because of how past years ended doesn't make sense. Some things have changed over the off-season. It's not too far-fetched to say this is an improved team.

Hint... when you are picked to go to the superbowl and you can't win playoff game, you were overrated. New York was underrated. New England was overrated. It isn't always as horrible as it sounds. And Kings words sounded like a compliment. How did you read that as disrespect?

I don't understand Schefter's labelling. How can you be overrated for going 13-3 the previous year, lose in the playoffs to the eventual SB champion in a close game, and by most significant accounts, have upgraded your roster for this year?

Sounds like bias to me.

I can tell you this, The Cowboys organization and team are not thinking that they won the SuperBowl already or that they are a shoe in to do so.

It isn't tough. They were rated to go past where they did. Thus the term, "over rated".

He was a Broncos beat writer before landing the NFLN gig.

While I'm hopeful of a playoff win, most of these players have nothing to do with the last 12 years. I've actually heard guys on ESPN use that as a reason why the Cowboys will disappoint. Half of the team was in grade school 12 years ago, and only a handful of players on the team have played in more than 2 playoff games.

Other than the Jones family, the only Cowboys who've suffered through the last 12 years are the fans. We have, what, 2 guys who've been here since prior to '02? Questioning them because of the loss to the Giants last year is one thing, but trying to tie the team to what happned in the late 90's is downright stupid.

Thanks! But I want to know where he grew up at. Just like Chris Berman, he is an Eagle fan is very bias to them.

The Cowboys are not the media darlings, just because we get a massive amount of coverage does not make us the media darlings. 75% of the time the media is stabbing us in the back. On the other hand, they get on their hands and knees when it comes to GB, Pittsburgh, and New York.

I'm glad. Peter King is wrong more than he is right (Anyone remember Danny Wuerf..fer... Waffle?), and Schefter is a glorified CBS evening news sports anchor. Who the hell cares what they think.

While it is true that the NFC East is a very tough division, I havn't seen any other reason this off-season/training camp that would dictate Dallas having a subpar year. Except injuries, of course.
