Adam, won't Petitti get a huge NFLPA bonus this year?

Pittdawg rolls with the punches well, I'll give him credit there. I'm still not sure Rob is any more capable of starting at Tackle than Torrin Tucker, but maybe an offseason of conditioning will help them both. Regardless, we definitely need more depth at OL.

What's it going to be then, eh?

This is an outstanding thread. Class and maturity all the way.

I am excited that Rob played all 16 games this year. If he doesn't start next year it will be nice knowing we have some expirence coming off the bench. He will also come in next year and be much stronger and more prepared for the NFL. He is part of the future of this team. Bill wouldn't have wasted his time with Rob if he didn't see something in him. Bill stuck with him for 16 weeks. Think about that.

there's not kissing someones arse, and there's just being a dork. i think his dad is going a great job putting up with low class hecklers.
His Dad posts here? Didn't know that. That said - I stick by what I said, Rob needs a lot of work, he needs to get in the Gym, he needs agility work and balance work.

So, If Cundiff's father posted here -would all the ripping that everyone has done be "heckling"?

What people have said about Pettitti has been accurate - I bet his father would admit that as well. The Cowboys were on National TV 12 plus times this season , they are Notre Dame/Yankees like - people know who the Cowboys Right Tackle is, they may not know who the Bills or Saints or Jags or Bucs or Bengals, RT is, but b/c he has been so inept and so exposed and penalized - people have taken note of it.

It will be nice to at least have Rob get some experience. He isnt ready to be starter yet, but he would be a great backup as it seems he can play both tackles. I think he has a solid future with the boys, but probably not as a starter next year, he needs some times.

I'm a lil late to this soiree, but I'll just say this... let's try and limit the personal insults to PMs if you don't mind. Stuff like that just drags the board down... and most of us don't want to read it...

He's one of the worst players I've ever seen on our OL. Most lineman carry weight and gerth with plenty of muscle...Pettitti is the opposite he's completely out of shape and his footwork suffers from it. I coach the OL & QB's at the HS level - the OL is all about balance and footwork. Mark Stepnoski , who is undersized, very undersized actually was a ProBowler b/c of his footwork and burst handspeed to the defenders chest. Pettiti is rountinely beat wide b/c he's slow outta shoot and his first step is almost always off balance which is doubly worse b/c of his high body fat percentage.
Pettiti projects as a backup at best - most likely an inactive taxi squad guy.
And IMHO I think he is only here b/c he's from Jersey. However it;s not like he's from Newark or Patterson or Jersey City , he's from a lilly white Central Jersey town.

i really doubt you coach at the high school level

IF you do you would know that the number one thing for an offensive lineman is intelligence and knowing what to do on everyplay. Yes Rob is often slow out of his stance and has some balance problems, but i would attribute both of those problems to his being a rooking and being very tired at the end of the year(when he started to have consistant problems). If u ask me he had a very good first 6-8 games but you could tell he got tired and injured as the very long season progressed. Rob is acctually not as bad as everyone here wants to believe, I think he will anchor our line in a few short years. Most importantly he has hunger and drive, and is a very smart guy.

I've coached for 9 seasons now as a matter of fact. Wrong, the number one thing a lineman can work on and improve on is footwork - exceptional footwork can make a smaller lineman a Brahma Bull to deal with. The stuff you mentioned is great - however some lineman will never get that end of it , they'll never be able to tell you what the other OL are suppossed to do on the play - However many many of those guys go pro b/c of their physical gifts and technique.

This is RIDICULOUS. Some of you should be absolutely ashamed.

This is a message board and everyone has an opinion...but geesh! Have some class.

Bob didn't have the best year, we know. He was a late round pick that was put in a position that few could succeed at.

Have some respect. If not for PittDawg, at least for yourself.

This is the problem I have. What difference does it make his (supposed) father posts on the board? We have no problem calling out anyone form Jerry Jones to Billy Cundiff but we are supposed to respect Rob and hold back because his father is here?

It seems he can handle it and I don't think he needs you fighting his battles.

I'm not fighting his battles. It's just common courtesy. The guy's father posts here. Have some respect. He's a fellow poster just like you. If you think he played poorly, than by all means express that, but don't put him down with personal insults.

Is it that hard to act in a mature and classy manner?

I agree on stopping the personal insults, but this is a public message board for people's opinions. We shouldn't hold back opinions on what we think just because someone who associeated with the team might be reading it.

Just think if Jerry was out there lurking on the board? Or Zimmer, Payton, or BP? What would we talk about if we couldn't complain a little bit :)
