I'm not fighting his battles. It's just common courtesy. The guy's father posts here. Have some respect. He's a fellow poster just like you. If you think he played poorly, than by all means express that, but don't put him down with personal insults.

Is it that hard to act in a mature and classy manner?

I don't recall insulting him personally. Could you please point it out?

I agree on stopping the personal insults, but this is a public message board for people's opinions. We shouldn't hold back opinions on what we think just because someone who associeated with the team might be reading it.

Just think if Jerry was out there lurking on the board? Or Zimmer, Payton, or BP? What would we talk about if we couldn't complain a little bit :)

...really mature when your opinion consists of nothing but "he sucks" or "what a waste".

No one is trying to shut down intelligent and mature opinions, but sometimes things get carried away because people have no discretion between kindergarten and adulthood in their behavior.

As for the situation of Pettiti I agree with the one poster that footwork and some conditioning is a key aspect of Rob's offseason. Let's hold our judgement of a sixth round draft pick until TC comes around this summer to see what he has done to progress.

This league has seen far too many players come into the league and bounce around before the light turns on and they end up useful vets or even pro bowlers ala Laroi Glover.

The field of play will decide whether Rob has the 'mustard' or not, let's put away our Karnak turbans on this one. There's not enough evidnece to shellack this kid like we do when we are talking about Jerry Jones and his 17 year tenure of the Cowboys.

This is the problem I have. What difference does it make his (supposed) father posts on the board? We have no problem calling out anyone form Jerry Jones to Billy Cundiff but we are supposed to respect Rob and hold back because his father is here?

It seems he can handle it and I don't think he needs you fighting his battles.
Exactly - he's a pro making hundreds of thousands....

First off, I'm not taking cheap shots at Pettiti at all. If anything, he played better than I ever expected. As you said, he's a 6th round draft pick that started every game for us at RT playing through injury.

IMO, down the stretch it seemed like he could have used a break to step back and re-evaulate the game (and probably recover/rest). The big issue is that we had no one behind in for depth at OT. I though a looksee at Colombo was in order, but I guess he wasn't ready.

Another offseason program and some experience, I think we'll see some improvement. I just hope that if it's not enough, that we have a Plan B in place.

Oh yea, and back to the original thread topic - If Pettiti gets a big bonus from the NFLPA...he deserves every cent of it. Nobody else starts at RT for 16 games for the league minimum.

Except if the head coach is lost and mortaged the season and his QB's health on it - not to mention the running game - not to mention blowing over 2 million in cap room on backups who could no worse tha Pettitti...

2 million -- you mean the cost of minimum salaries for backups? yeah, that's a waste.

Those three guys had a COMBINED cap charge of less than $583,000 -- or less than the cap cost of Eric Ogbogu. Less than Dan Campbell. Less than Scott Fujita. Less than Kenyon Coleman. In other words, less than the price of one veteran backup.

That's wrong -Mort did a column on it ...Jones wound paying a few million to extra parts that Bill discarded.

That's not wrong, that's exactly what those three guys cost us against the cap this season. If Mort said anything else, then he's wrong. But since I can't find any such column, I can only guess that you might be making it up or misinterpreting what he wrote.

Yes, he'll get a nice bonus from the NFLPA. It's based on playing time and salary -- the more playing time and lower the salary, the bigger the bonus. Last year, Torrin Tucker got the biggest bonus on the Cowboys: $120,730.

Thanks Adam! I can't imagine that Rob's won't be the largest such bonus ever awarded thus far given he probably has the lowest NFL salary possible and played every down. His bonus may surpass his actual salary. Frankly, he deserves it after what he did this year!
