This should be good enough proof for most that he's not slow and will soon be in the NFL.

It's one thing to guess how NFL GMs think, it's a COMPLETELY other endeavor to judge talent for yourself.

But I guess it's easier to just read a draft magazine and repeat everything your read. No need to have the stress of actually researching and watching the players yourself.

Of course, don't be surprised when others couldn't care less of your opinion of a player. Or rather, it's not even your opinion I guess, since you don't form your own.

Those guys ran before such an emphasis was placed on training for 40 times. Proper training can shave several tenths of a second off your time.

Ted Ginn went from 4.6s to 4.38 after training.

I honestly could care less about his 40 time, there are a good number of solid NFL WR's that didn't run 4.4's. Bowman missed out on the NFL, not because he couldn't play, but because he's an idiot off the field. No matter how many catches he makes or CFL CB's he blows by, what will get him in the NFL is his maturation off the field.

If it were a matter of catching balls, he would have been drafted or at least signed as a UDFA. Hell, Mario Manningham got drafted.

I watched the game... "a dominating performance" as in taking over a game... no, it was not....The big play can be seen here at about the 170 mark.

I tend to think comparing NFL and CFL stats is a bit of the apples & oranges thing but I agree that something was definitely rotten in Denmark with regards to how Bowman got blackballed in the NFL.

We're talking Monopoly here folks, mandates get sent down all the time, no reason to believe differently here when considering a talent that clearly capable.

I'm more curious WHEN he'll be given a shot to return to the NFL because even a monster season in the CFL might not afford him one, IMHO.

But if and when he does get a shot, can't wait to hear the spin about how he 'turned it around' for himself :D

CAN BOWMAN SECURE A SHOT AT THE NFL?
Posted by Mike Florio on June 30, 2008, 9:18 p.m.

So with a CFL debut that featured six receptions, 112 yards, and a touchdown, will NFL teams reconsider their decision to diss receiver Adarius Bowman?

Some league insiders think that any solid performances by Bowman in Canada won’t matter, given the off-field negatives that not only excluded him from the draft pool but that also kept him from being one of the throng of undrafted free agents who were signed in the wake of the draft.

Per one source, Bowman would have been drafted but for concerns about his character.

“The reason Bowman has been snubbed is because of very bad behavior and dubious character, not because of any lack of ability,” the source said. “Had he been clean, he would have, at minimum, been a fourth rounder.”

If Bowman can stay out of trouble and also can continue to perform at a high level in Canada, he’ll surely get a shot with an NFL team.

I was a huge Bowman fan all season long. He was a flat out beast. However, he turned out to be such a waste of space and talent. He is almost completely devoid of maturity, character, or intelligence. He had a chance to be a 1st round pick in the NFL and a multi millionaire.......he threw it all away with a poor work ethic, a poor attitude, and drug use. what a complete and utter fool.

I remember during draft time, many people wanted us to draft/sign Adarius Bowman. But because of his slow .40 time and other things he went to the CFL and landed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Well, last night, in his first game he dominated. He had 6 catches for 112 yards and 1 touchdown. His longest catch was 73 yards and he looked like the old Bowman that was pegged to be picked in the first round of the NFL draft before last college football season starts. His speed returned and he was outrunning corners with 4.5 speed.

We'll see him in the league after this season if he keeps that up.

Eh-CFL is nothing more than peewee league.

What rock have you been under? Do you know who Adarius Bowman is?

Wait, nevermind, you're the guy that wanted us to cut Flozell Adams in 2006.

I love these 'reports'...Complete innuendo with absolutely no factual basis...If you actually looked into the 'behavior' and 'character' of the NFL players, I hardly think Bowman somehow distinguished himself beyond the scope of what is already in existence in the league...It's spin

Real curious to see these substantiated reports of a poor work ethic...And drug use?...Yeah, no one in the NFL let alone professional sports is smoking weed

Here's the deal: how is it that every NFL team, stocked with without doubt the best talent scouts for pro football on earth, with every possible modern technique of background checks, with every willingness to gamble at least a low pick on absolute, incredible talent, could somehow pass on this guy unless there were major reasons to do so? Hell, Malcolm Kelly, who before the Combines was considered a lock for the first round, only dropped to the mid-second round after bad 40 times. And the dude is huge and a college playmaker. Somehow, he doesn't fall off the board, yet Adarius Bowman does. What does, and what should, that tell you?

How is it absolutely no factual basis? This report quoted an inside source.

What exactly are they trying to spin?

Bowman did not get drafted by a single team. There has to be reasons. Those reasons are not always the ones just reported in the media. Sometimes there is stuff that doesn't come out until later but it doesn't even have to be that sinister. The guy just failed to impress every NFL team with his combination of on field talent and off the field issues.

I think Bowman is talented, but at the same time he was not a once in a life time talent. I don't think he is as talented as Antonio Bryant, but he may be a bigger dope.

Anybody who has watched his highlight video and then says he is painfully slow is just trying to support an unsupportable position or is blind. You can give me the 40 numbers all you want but on the field he is not slow!

This is great. All this frenzy over a player that isn't in the NFL this year. :D

Save the lather for next offseason folks, when he might actually be thinking of returning. Just a thought.
