Ex-London Olympians player. I believe he's the second ex-British league player to coach with the Cowboys. The other is........Sean Payton (ex-QB with Leicester Panthers).

Some posters have expressed concerns about if he has a football background or is from another sport. The Olympians is a well established program - from early 1980s - with both underage and adult teams. He likely played football from a very young age. It may surprise Americans, but there are 120,000 plus players in Europe - many who have concentrated on football from a very young age.

aahhh, no. Payton was in the league and around Football for years before he was given a high profile coaching job. Payton served his time.

Actually played on an NFL team, Chicago Bears 1987. Now, I'm not going to say that this is the end all be all, I don't believe that but, Payton did play the game. Played from the time he was a kid, grew up with it. Played HS ball, started at Eastern Illinois, knew the game. Was an assistant and coordinator in College before he ever got a shot in the NFL. Was a QB Coach in the NFL, for years, before he ever got a real shot. I mean, Payton walked a completely different path, then did this guy and for a lot longer.

I wasn't aware of the popularity of American style football in Europe until I looked up his history as a DC for the Warriors.
Pro teams as well as college and university. Okay then!

Yeah, it's quite popular. Germany has a league that's actually not badly sized. It'll never beat Euro football, but it's followed.

Coming off a historically bad defense in teams history....

We go to another equally as awful teams defensive staff to raid their coaching staff

I can’t wait for FA to sign all their pet cats and practice squad guys

I been to football games in Germany. Standard in their top division isnt that much below the CFL - who they've just entered into a formal partnership with.

Anyone who criticizes this can't be taken seriously.

Let me ask you because I can't really say don't know but these guys we are getting from Falcons wasn't they pretty
much about as bad as us on Defense ?

I was expecting Lett to get this gig, just seemed natural.

Leon Lett has always worked with the interior DTs but never the DEs,..
Nate Newton said that he doesn't know if Lett can handle an entire DL unit by himself because of his reserved demeanor.

And interesting since I have not heard that Lett was let go, so I'm assuming he is still on the team and still will be handling the DTs.
