I think if we don't get Gurley or Gordon, we'll trade for him ... although we might wait to see what happens with the second-round backs and then make an offer. The point being, I don't think we're wedged into a corner on taking a running back if Peterson is available for trade.

Both sides have a bit of leverage this season. The Vikes, in that they can afford to pay him for a year and see what he'll do. He's unlikely to sit out, and he actually reportedly likes Zimmer and his teammates, so he probably won't cost himself the fines necessary to tube the whole season. And he can't really afford to sit out two full (basically full) seasons at his age and hope to come back and have a shot at the record books.

On the flip side, he's got that $44M contract worth of leverage. That's a lot of leverage. And they aren't going to keep him for three years at that current price. They can't trade him, and they don't really want the huge distraction at this point in the new regime. It makes the most sense to flip him for what they can get and to move on.

Either way, he's going to keep ratcheting up the rhetoric as we get closer to the draft. This is about to get more acrimonious, I think, as he starts doing what he can to shake loose.

I don't think he'll risk losing 2 years either, bit if the vikes don't blink I can fully see him getting hurt (wink wink) periodically to save his body while knocking off the rust.

Of course he is going to be a Cowboy no question just a matter of time. Dallas however ain't trading with the Vikings, as they will have to cut him because no way they are going to pay 12M to a player that doesn't want to be there.

As long as he's on their roster he will get paid. He will get fined in training camp but that will just be a little dent to his 13 million salary he will be making.

If they cut him, they won't actually have to pay 13 million REAL cashflow dollars to him. Just a cap hit on paper.

No question, IMO. Peterson's agent doesn't think anything. His client is speaking through him.

He wants to be a Cowboy badly. Will it happen? Probably not.

As an owner, youre always looking at your bottom line. AP isnt going to play one down for the Vikes this year. The owner will be writing checks to someone that won't even be paying.

He can save his bottom line by not having to actually pay AP.

I agree. I will be absolutely shocked if he is a Cowboy. And my reasoning remains the same: They already brought in Greg Hardy, and I don't think the team wants to add a 2nd guy that is also coming off a horrific off-the-field incident. Bringing in one guy with recent baggage...ehh...you can talk your way around it. But a 2nd guy? That is too much, IMO.

He can refuse to negotiate his contract preventing the vikings from trading him or forcing them to pay him 13 mill for 2015 which I doubt they'd be willing to do leaving the Vikings with the options of cutting him or paying him 13 mill. If they decide to pay him that amount, I'm sure he'll wear a vikings jersey, win-win for AP

I'm not sure what draft pick would be appropriate.

Our no 1 at 27 could be enough but I would not want to see that as we need a DL in the worst way.

But AP would be quite an upgrade for our offense.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it his intent to get away from the Vikings and go to a team of his choosing? Wouldn't being cut be the quickest way to facilitate that objective? But that would mean walking away from guaranteed millions, correct?

Neither of these guys are a few years removed from trouble. They have not played (except for 1 game) since this stuff went down and bringing in both guys would be a nightmare. Just my opinion.
