What I'm really curious about is why hasnt AD at least considered restructuring his deal in order to get out of there? His contract is literally the only reason why no team is trading for him...

I don't think it is. It's tough to swallow trading high picks for a 30 yo RB, no matter how great he has been in his career. Especially in a draft with 6-8 quality young players and two legitimate first round prospects for the two teams that really have clear vacancies at that position (DAL and AZ). Personally, I'm not interested in trading anything for Peterson, though I'd be all over him as a FA at $8M/per for a year or two.

I do wonder, though, if we'd sign him now that we've got Hardy and Brent in the fold already. It probably wouldn't phase Jerry, but you know it'd get tongues wagging. Dale Hansen would probably even wake up from his nap again so that he can be trotted around the block one more time.

Clrarly, AP is doing all he can and I do believe the Vikes know his time there is at an end. I think they just want something for the future HOFer and doing their best poker face but I think this is just a front and they will release him as the Cowboys released Rat. If a player is willing to go all in, they can work their way out of an organization.

Guys, USA reporting now that his agent has said " We want out of Minnesota"

This is getting serious and real. AD is coming to Dallas. Wow!

Adrian Peterson's agent told USA Today that "we want out of Minnesota."
Peterson's agent is doing the dirty work here, as he came out on Wednesday and said he "doesn't think it's in the best interests of Peterson to play for the Vikings." The ball is in GM Rick Spielman's court, as he holds all the cards. The Vikings are in fine shape with the salary cap and can carry Peterson's $15 million-plus cap hit if they have to. And with Minnesota poised to take another step forward in Teddy Bridgewater's sophomore season, they may choose to hold onto A.D. More likely, the two sides go their separate ways. Arizona is a potential landing spot.

What cards does he hold? Not playing means not getting paid. How is that a win?

With the entire organization not standing by him or supporting him last year he holds the cards and can force his way out. Which is exactly what he is doing imo.

So pure speculation on my part and this may deserve its own thread but what about a Carr for AP swap? I found this a few minutes ago...
Cornerback: The Vikings could use the No. 11 overall pick to draft a cornerback to start across from Xavier Rhodes, who had a terrific year.
As I said pure speculation but if anyone can get the best out of a CB its Zim...this one could work for both teams.

No question, IMO. Peterson's agent doesn't think anything. His client is speaking through him.

He wants to be a Cowboy badly. Will it happen? Probably not.

I'm a bit more optimistic on that. How pathetic do the Vikings look in publicly forcing a guy to play for them when he's publicly stating he doesn't want to be there?

And the knuckleheads in Minnesota are trying to talk up some 'playoff chances' while mentioning Teddy Bridgewater , Mike Wallace and Cordarrelle Patterson? Oh yeah, they're leapfrogging over the Lions and Packers with that bunch, for sure!

The fact is, that team isn't winning anything with or without Adrian Peterson, so it's simply a waste of resources to pay him $15 million for the next 3 years. Everything coming out of them is a public front to save face and not have them labeled as the bad guys.

If I'm Peterson or his agent, the next thing I shine light on is Mike Zimmer's on-record comments stating he wouldn't force Peterson to stay there if he didn't want to. I think any question on that has been decided. So when do you honor your word, coach?

Willing to give up a first to Minny to take disgruntled and cap killing player off their hands but they need to sweeten pot a little:

Vikings get: Cowboys 2015 1st rounder (27th pick), Brandon Carr, Joseph Randle, Devin Street
Cowboys get: Adrian Peterson, Harrison Smith

Oy! This again...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it his intent to get away from the Vikings and go to a team of his choosing? Wouldn't being cut be the quickest way to facilitate that objective? But that would mean walking away from guaranteed millions, correct?

No. The millions aren't guaranteed. That's a big issue. The ledger says $45 million over the next 3 years, but virtually none is guaranteed.

Personally, I don't care at this point, the people who are going to be outraged are already there.

They've made their ill-informed decisions about Hardy and will do the same with Peterson. And I could care less what their small minds think. It won't hurt the franchise a bit, and their on-field contributions could in fact, help get us over the top. And if that happens, all of these same clowns will be lining up shaking their pom-poms.

If he gets cut by the Vikings then I'll begin to care about this. Until then there isn't any chance that he's going to be in Dallas. Dallas isn't going to trade for him so until he gets released by the Vikings there is really nothing to think about or discuss in regards to AP.

I guess that is why the media is all over this story. He isn't staying in Minn and there area really only two places he could go here or the Cardinals.

Judging by the number of Peterson threads and the number of posts in them, it looks like you're in the vast minority with this opinion.

I can see people not being interested in discussing the subject, and that's fine. But if you have no interest, why bother clicking on and then posting in such threads?
