Personally, I don't care at this point, the people who are going to be outraged are already there.

They've made their ill-informed decisions about Hardy and will do the same with Peterson. And I could care less what their small minds think. It won't hurt the franchise a bit, and their on-field contributions could in fact, help get us over the top. And if that happens, all of these same clowns will be lining up shaking their pom-poms.

There's no denying that Peterson is a beast. And I think we both foresaw him rattling his cage to get released here prior to the draft. The ball's in MIN's court now, if they're going to do it, because Dallas isn't going to trade for him.

AD must have some sense, though, what we'd be willing to pay for him on the open market, right? I can't imagine him making such a fuss to get out of $12.5M unless he knew fairly clearly what he was probably getting into in its place. Principle is one thing, but that's a potentially expensive principle if he's taking a blind leap at his age and current PR hit.

I'm still working on trying to figure out his true motives.

If he's solely about the money, I think he'd be staying in Minnesota.

And then there's the possibility like Pat Kirwin alluded to that Peterson wants guaranteed money (which he doesn't have on his remaining deal). If that's truly the case, I'll guarantee $12 - $15 million tops, otherwise stay in Minnesota.

If he's truly about getting out of Minnesota and playing in Dallas, I'd have no problem with a Lynch-type deal for three years - about $25 million.

But both sides (he and Vikings) have to figure a way out of his current mess.

If it meant getting this thing moved along, I would give up this year's 4th rounder, but no more.

What did you think of my trade speculation?

So pure speculation on my part and this may deserve its own thread but what about a Carr for AP swap? I found this a few minutes ago...
Cornerback: The Vikings could use the No. 11 overall pick to draft a cornerback to start across from Xavier Rhodes, who had a terrific year.
As I said pure speculation but if anyone can get the best out of a CB its Zim...this one could work for both teams.

I'm not sure why the mods moved this thread in here but clearly when it comes to AP the Cowboys keep being brought up by outside sources...they need to move it back in the fanzone imo.

Adrian Peterson wants out of Minnesota, Cowboys reportedly interested
By@MattVerderame on Mar 24, 2015, 12:23p The best running back of this generation is having a stand-off with his current team, and the Cowboys could benefit.
Adrian Peterson wants out of Minnesota. The Vikings all-time leading rusher is ready to move on after spending nine years with the club, something his agent, Ben Dogra, announced Monday at the NFL Owner's Meetings in Phoenix, Ariz.according to Jarrett Bell of USA Today.
If Peterson eventually gets his wish, the Dallas Cowboys might be the benefactors. Dallas, which lost DeMarco Murray to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, are interested in bringing Peterson aboard.

If the Vikings actually wanted him? Sure. And on the surface, it fills a need and allows Minnesota to 'save face' to some extent (which they're going to great lengths to do!)

But considering the course the Vikings have been keeping, I think they would just draft one instead. Of course, this move could then allow them to draft Melvin Gordon at #11 to replace Peterson...

I'd go for it, but I'm not sure the Vikings would.

True but I think they are pretty high on McKininon.

For the team to deal with. For the constant questions and P.R. hit that will come with adding another guy that was just in very serious trouble. Neither of these guys are a few years removed from trouble. They have not played (except for 1 game) since this stuff went down and bringing in both guys would be a nightmare. Just my opinion. I do not think they will go anywhere near AP for this reason.

can't let the media dictate our personnel decisions, especially when their view of us wouldn't be any different if we had a team full of choir boys.

if you have a chance to add the top running back in the league to make romo's life easier on offense and increase the team's ability to win a super bowl in this narrow window we have, you don't let some mediots take that chance away from you.

remember the same media was a 24/7 news cycle around that missing plane in asia, now you don't hear a peep about it. the hardy talk will go away, just like the potential AP outcry.
