Reasons I don't completely poo-poo the idea of AD in Dallas:
1. I know he was bad when he came back last year but I'll never count out an athletic freak's ability to recover until he goes through an entire offseason and shows he has nothing left.
2. The team is determined to limit Zeke's touches to what they see as reasonable so if the freak still can bring it he is probably a great option.
3. More Zeke on third downs and less 4-wide that becomes 5-wide when Dunbar motions to wide out. AD doesn't do 3rd downs.

Also, the little things AP can teach Elliott about the game in general. Just my opinion

Zeke needs a backup runner about as much as Emmitt did. He's a 3 down back. Hopefully we will use him as such this year. McFadden is fine as an occasional backup or the draft is strong this year for rb and cheaper. We have bigger needs for the cap

Expecting Emmits longevity out of any back nowadays is totally unfair. The game is just to different.

I talked about the value of taking a RB high in the draft and the ramifications of shelf life of the position, if that is what you are asking.

I don't really believe you can preserve players at the position. No great RB I've ever seen or been around is OK with this. They all want the ball and they all want it every play. If you don't give them carries, they eventually leave to go to another Offense. You gotta play em while you can an hope that they last. You can limit their carries a bit but you can't really stop them from wanting the ball.

Zeke is going to get plenty of carries.

He's also going to find himself on the bench in meaningless games like he did last year... Games that cost him a shot at a once in a lifetime record (only a rookie once).

Also if Zeke wants to leave our offense... There will be 5 guys willing to step into his place on this offense behind this line.

Well, we don't actually know if he will or not, just like we have no idea if AD would be or not. To me, and again, we have no idea how much AD will want, if we are spending 4 mil. on AD, I feel like it's much wiser to just keep Tony for the 5.1 savings. This team has two other very capable RBs that have shown they can produce behind this OL. If we think back to 2015, we have seen that when your starting QB goes down, the entire team tanks. If you move Tony and Dak goes down, we pretty much know what happens with the roster we have now.

Keeping Tony isn't about 5m in savings. It's about 14m in salary. The 5m is just accounting from already accrued costs.

Since MINN declined his option and didn't release him, AD is not a FA until March 9th.... he WILL count against Comp Pick signings

Jamaal Charles was waived so he is free to sign with anyone right now and won't count as a Comp Pick if signed
