I think both teams are likely to draft a RB with this deep RB class.

Peterson isn't AD anymore. Would much prefer the Giants or Eagles go after him than a litany of young guys in the draft.

Signing AD doesn't prevent the Eagles from taking a running back. Sproles is retiring and Mathews may not be there next year. They're going to need a few backs.

But I agree with you. I don't want to see Cook or Fournette or Mixon on the Eagles or Giants, though I doubt the Giants will take a back in the first round with Paul Perkins coming on strong at the end of the season. Nor, of course, do I see Cook or Fournette dropping that far in the draft.

But to be fair, same argument can be made at QB,
Sure. But Romo won't be on a team friendly deal and he doesn't want to be a backup. We should trade or move on.

And this is someone who thinks Tony is still the best QB on this roster and wish he'd gotten his shot.

Reasons I don't completely poo-poo the idea of AD in Dallas:
1. I know he was bad when he came back last year but I'll never count out an athletic freak's ability to recover until he goes through an entire offseason and shows he has nothing left.
2. The team is determined to limit Zeke's touches to what they see as reasonable so if the freak still can bring it he is probably a great option.
3. More Zeke on third downs and less 4-wide that becomes 5-wide when Dunbar motions to wide out. AD doesn't do 3rd downs.

He's gonna be 32 years old next season. He's got nearly 2,500 carries to his name in his career. He spent last season with numerous nagging injuries. Why is everyone so convinced that Peterson is gonna get big money no matter where he goes? This isn't AD in his prime. This is AD approaching the end of the road.

"It's crazy for him to take carries from Ezekiel .."

It's crazy for any RB not to take some of the workload off of the guy. Ezekiel had 322 carries, as a rookie. That's an absolutely brutal workload. Even Peterson has only ran the ball that many times or more just 2 times in his career. No matter who the guy is, Ezekiel needs to have his load lightened a bit.

That's why we brought Morris in.

And that was with him getting benched early in the season and missing 1.5 games at the end of it. This is the problem with taking a RB high. You have to baby them or your investment is short-lived.

People here seem confused...I wonder if there had been someone talking about this issue before the draft last year...

Interesting decision for AP: does he take less money to play for a contender or get his last contract with someone like the Browns with money to burn?

I think he could actually go to the Pack.

It's like the media approaches the "real football" world with a "fantasy football" mindset.

Would it be cool to see AP and Zeke on the same team and we run for 300 yards every game? For sure!

Is any of that ever going to realistically happen? Not a chance.

Any suggestion that the Cowboys would sign AP is basically a ratings ploy.

Well, we don't actually know if he will or not, just like we have no idea if AD would be or not. To me, and again, we have no idea how much AD will want, if we are spending 4 mil. on AD, I feel like it's much wiser to just keep Tony for the 5.1 savings. This team has two other very capable RBs that have shown they can produce behind this OL. If we think back to 2015, we have seen that when your starting QB goes down, the entire team tanks. If you move Tony and Dak goes down, we pretty much know what happens with the roster we have now.

A lot of guys sign revenge contracts, i.e., signing with teams in their division just to stick it to their former clubs. I wouldn't put it pass AP.

Since he was cut he won't count as a Comp Pick

If he wants to be here as back-up to Zeke I would go for 4m with incentives if EE got hurt
I think 4m is too high, B. He wasn't good last season, and 4m is good money. Like others have said, if he takes a deal around 2m w incentives, then I'd do it. Doubt he does, tho.

I can see the Giants, Skins, Broncos and Seattle checking him out. If used correctly he could still be a major problem for opposing defenses!

As the roster currently is, AP would not be a good signing. However I would hate for AP to end up in Philly or NY.
Philly's oline, minus Lane, isn't that great. If he signed there, it'd help us more than hurt us.
