Cris Carter, the Hall of Fame former Vikings receiver who now works as an ESPN commentator, suggested today on Mike & Mikethat he has been given inside information about a Peterson trade.

“I’m under gag order on the Adrian Peterson situation, but I believe something’s gonna happen,” Carter said. “But I can’t talk about it.”

It’s a bit odd that Carter would choose to talk about something that he “can’t talk about” because he’s “under gag order,” but that’s what Carter said, and Carter presumably still has some relationships with people in Minnesota. Which suggests that it’s possible Carter knows that privately, the Vikings are more open to trading Peterson than they’re indicating publicly.

Still, this sounds like a long shot. The Vikings reportedly want a huge bounty if they’re going to part with Peterson, and there have been no reports of another team stepping to the plate with that kind of deal.
