Adrian Peterson's "agent" refuses meeting with Vikes GM

The Vikings don't seem to care he wants out. I mean sure they'd love to trade him, but as they don't have any offers that are to their liking they seem content to let a disgruntled player remain on their roster - too much sunk cost they can't get back. But perhaps they do place priority on NOT paying him the figures he is due and so have been trying to meet with his agent for this purpose - to get a lowered deal worked out. And the agent doesn't want to meet because no way do they want to do that. But the Vikings don't have to pay him if he doesn't show up. So it might be advantageous for Adrian if he DID show up, as that would force the Vikings hand - pay him the full contract, or cut him.

Think you may have hit the nail on the head.:hammer:

I've given up on it. I've accepted the coup of the FA crop this year is about 10-12 games of an elite edge rusher before he signs elsewhere and we get a 3rd round comp pick.

I'll go into the draft desperate for a RB because the guys we have now are slop.

I think RB is top of the list. I really like Gordon from Wisconsin.

I want a RB in the draft as well, but have hopes in the RBs we currently have. There is no bell cow but I'm ok with RB by committee. We've got some guys that can take it to the house.

Agreed. He may have to get to the point Steve McNair did with the Titans years ago. Show up for work, risk injury and guaranteeing a huge salary, thereby forcing your way out.

To me, this is the bottom of the barrel in replacing Murray. Like Plan D or E. We can and should do better. I'm not risking one of Romo's few remaining years on a failure from Oakland and a bunch of backup RBs.

This reeks of the OL situation 3 years ago. Hey, we'll get by there with JAGs.

Agree and putting hope in a draft guarantees nothing. RBBC didn't work with this team so going back to it is not something they should do. There should be a listing on Craig's list, a sign outside valley ranch, and help wanted ad that offers relocation expenses that this team needs a bellcow.

Well, I think we're pretty much resigned to a multi back attack next season regardless. A rookie probably isn't going to get the kind of carries Murray got last year. But I would at least like to add a rookie to be the predominant back on offense and eventual bellcow after.

Couldn't agree more but I do believe a rookie could step in and surprise you but I want a rookie back early. Some people seem to think our running backs are set. AP is the best option but Stephen doesn't play that game.

A scenario that seems more and more possible is the Vikings force him to remain on the team and he holds out. Stalemate. And maybe it lasts the whole year. But he has all those kids so maybe he folds and plays for them under protest so he can collect his checks and pay his child support payments. That wouldn't happen until week 1 as that's when the checks start. At some point the Vikings may come to their senses and just cut their losses and save on their cap - maybe in the preseason.

I think he'd play for the Vikings if he gets the 13 mill he's due in 2015, I just can't see the Vikes paying him that much

Well until that happens all I can do is hope. Going into the season with a c,d option just doesn't make a lot so sense to me.

I agree a rookie RB could come in and be a straight up baller. However to think he could come in and dominate at or near the level Murray did last year is a pipe dream IMO. I am all for drafting a RB for now and the future bellcow as the butcher spoke of above. With that you could still bring in the best for two years and put this league on notice the Boyz are back and they are not going away for a while.

So if the scenario were to play out where the Vikings cut Adrian Peterson in training camp to avoid the salary obligations, I think we could get Adrian on a Hardy type deal. They should just copy/paste the deal and make the sack bonus a TD bonus.

I have resolved to the fact that Dallas only has a minimal chance of getting Adrian. I want him but not at the projected cost, would rather lock up Dez every day of the week.

Minn and AP are being stubborn here and neither side will buckle until the last minute. The Vikings just might pay him that money in spite, who knows. AP can hold out but he won't, no way he leaves that money on the table.

The only viable chance we have is due to what happened last year. His image has been tarnished and he might have to do a Hardy type deal. Teams might not pay top dollar to get the brunt of the media.

It is sad when it takes beating his kid to give Dallas fans a glimmer of hope but that is the only reason that this is being discussed. If that incident never happened, these threads would not exist.

If it were up to me, I would pay him up to 8 million guaranteed and no more. Yes, that is a bit more than Murray but that is where my ceiling would be.

Dez + rookie RB > Adrian

Of all the names thrown around for the Cowboys he is the least interesting for us. First rounder for Gurley? Sure. Gordon? Ehhh

I'm right there with you. I see a system back with limitations and too many college carries already. No interest in Gordon in the first round.

I like Gordon a lot. He did carry the ball often but those weren't "tough" yards. He is elusive and didn't take bone-crunching hits. Most importantly, he is healthy and with the way he runs, it might stay that way.

On the contrary, Gurley scares me and is a Felix Jones waiting to happen.

My opinion means nothing though
