If Dallas wants AP they can get him. I would still draft a RB in the draft to groom him behind AP.

As I've said all along, the Vikings are just doing a dog and pony show trying to make other teams believe they will keep him when in fact, they will probably have to release him and get nothing in return. No way he is staying in Minn. Their sponsors would throw another fit even worse than before. They can't trade him because no team is going to pickup his current salary-----would have to have AP renegotiate and he is not going to do that for Arizona, or whoever. Dallas has the inside track still-----they gotta stick to their guns.

AP and his agent don't want to play along with this farce and know they really are not serious. They are probably trying to convince him to renegotiate with a willing trade partner. He ain't gonna do it.

The vast majority of money is split amongst the teams. Close to 2/3rds, which leaves about 1% of total revenue that each team doesn't share provided they all made the same amount. Of course teams don't all make the same, and given the market, the Vikings probably don't stand to lose much even if sponsors bailed.

I don't think they would bail to be honest, and if they did why would any team trade for the guy if sponsorship money will be lost? Or are we pretending only the Vikings would take such a hit?

Even if any sponsor left another one will be glad to step in. There's no shortage of corporations who would like to get on board with the NFL.

They didn't want to pay Murray (over 6 mil). No way they pay more for a 30 year old rb.

AP aint Murray, and If this guy is behind this OL wow look out. I don't care if he is 30, AP is a different beast and not your average running back. He has a good 3 to 4 years still.

no need to groom a running back. its not like a QB. if youre a good running you can take over day 1 and be successful. you dont want to spend the cheap years of a draft pick to groomed. if you pick up AP you go with AP and what you have. you can always throw a 4th and 5th pick and see if its sticks on a running back but no reason to spend a high pick this year on a back if you get AP.

Why? What do they gain?

Boomer Esiason said he would cut him right now. Cut him and move on. I think thats what I would do. Stop wasting time on someone who doesn't want to play for them anymore.

They wanted him back, he began the public crying. It's not hurting the Vikings at all at this point. He's a grown man, he should act like it.
Me personally? I would keep him on the hook as long as I possibly could. Just to hear him cry some more. Then I'd take a low pick from the Raiders. The Vikings were his meal ticket for seven years. Now he's kicking and screaming, they should take a switch to his azz.

Lol

I wish some team(not us) would make the deal already. Offer a draft pick and take that contract.
Idi-its!

This article was in a thread the other day:

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowb.../final-part-of-tony-romos-guarantee-comes-due

I truly think Dallas does not want to change that bolded part.

They wouldn't have to in order to create space.

Restructuring doesn't really guarantee anything more. If the guy plays for you he gets his base salary anyway and it may become guaranteed on the first day of the season anyway. Just changes the timing of the cap charges.

The Vikings are NOT going to pay him $13M when they can draft a RB in the draft. Not to mention have you seen his salary for 2016 and 2017?

No, but they can sure keep him miserable for a long while.

I don't know if 3-4 years running like a 27 year old, but 2 for sure. I mean after all Emmitt still had 3, 1000+ yard seasons at 30, 31 and 32.

Yes. It's like $1M than last year.

This argument could have been used any year over the last 2-3 offseasons and yet they kept him and paid him.

Don't pay age. Especially if you can find a younger, cheaper and suitable replacement. And there are several in the upcoming draft.

Stephen has learned this lesson. Many fans have not.

There is no-one else to pay that kind of money to. Unless they front load a contract for Dez and that will not happen. Use the space if you have it. They will want Carr to take a pay cut regardless. And they want Dez long term. ( I think ) So space may be available. Or would you rather try the Bengals approach? Like I said. I'm fine with a one year deal for a talent like that. I wouldn't give him multiple years though.
