Adrian Peterson's "agent" refuses meeting with Vikes GM

They have $13M plus right now, more than enough to cover the hit.

He's already included so there's nothing to cover.

His cap charge for the last 5 or so years has been around $13M.

His base salary over 2013 and 2014 averages $11.5M so it's completely nonsensical to think that they won't pay him $12.75M. It's $1M more than last year and they had every intent on paying him.

Right.

Spending huge dollars on Peterson would go against everything management has been trying to accomplish on the financial side so far this year.

Not if he signs for one year. Like Hardy, they could walk away from it. Is it really not worth it for a one year shot with Romo, Dez, Witten, AD and that O-Line? What would be the game plan for stopping that?

This article was in a thread the other day:

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowb.../final-part-of-tony-romos-guarantee-comes-due

IRVING, Texas -- Now that we are into the second week of the 2015 NFL league year, another $7.5 million of Tony Romo's $17 million base salary in 2015 has been fully guaranteed.
Last March Romo had $7.5 million of the 2015 base salary with the second guarantee kicking in on the fifth day of the league year.

After this year, no more money is guaranteed in the $106 million extension Romo signed in 2013. Romo’s base salaries in the next two years actually are lower than what he will make in 2015. He is scheduled to earn $8.5 million in 2016 and $14 million in 2017. His deal runs through 2019.

I truly think Dallas does not want to change that bolded part.

PETERSON is screwed. He wanted to be cocky and say he won't play there etc and Minnesota holds all the cards. If I was them Id trade him to somewhere to ruin end of his career. Get a high pick and ship him off if I was minny

The average salary of the top 5 earners(not named Adrian Peterson) at the RB position is $9.15M this year. The average cap hit is $8.58M.

If Adrian Peterson is indisputably the best running back in the NFL he is going to want more than what these 5 other guys make especially since he was scheduled to make $12.75M and have a cap hit of $15.4M.

The average salary of the top 10 earners(not named Adrian Peterson) at the RB position is $7.28M this year. The average cap hit is $6.84M.

Not if his desire to get out of Minnesota is greater then making as much as he can. Which, by now, that clearly seems to be the case.

Don't pay age. Especially if you can find a younger, cheaper and suitable replacement. And there are several in the upcoming draft.

Stephen has learned this lesson. Many fans have not.

I have to admit, that's what I would do. The more that gets out, The longer I would wait.

What are the rules regarding retirement? AP says, I am retiring. Signs all the paperwork and he is no longer a member of the NFL?

sits out 2 or 3 months and then changes his mind. Does Minn still hold any power over him? The league?

Charles Robinson reports Adrian Peterson's agent refused a dinner meeting with Vikings GM Rick Spielman at the NFL owners' meetings.
This is turning into a messy divorce. Peterson's camp has been at odds with Minnesota's front office since the Combine and it doesn't look like the two sides will ever see eye-to-eye again. The Vikings seem to be in denial about Peterson's future with the team. A trade to the Cardinals seems more likely by the day.

Hey it's Friday and even though this says a trade to the Cards appears likely we all know he is going to be released and become a Cowboy!!

good take Cardinals out of Gurley sweepstakes.

I think Minny would still owe his rights.

Yeah, Jerra, give this aging RB with publicity issues the money you refused to give to DeMarco.
AP biting the hand who fed him and one day, Jerra, if you hire AP, he will bit yo too.

Don't underestimate the sactimonious self-rightousness of the politically correct.

I just think it's a little different.

Cowboys have been down this road.

It's an entire franchise. Not nike dumping one player ie. Vick

I hear ya though

Minny is going to make it miserable as possible for him. Don't blame them.

Why? What do they gain?

Boomer Esiason said he would cut him right now. Cut him and move on. I think thats what I would do. Stop wasting time on someone who doesn't want to play for them anymore.
