After watching the Super Bowl, I got a sick to my stomach feeling

What makes me sick is watching New Stinkland pass us up in Super Bowl victories, Pissburgh pass us up in Super Bowls, and meanwhile of the past 20 years, we've been wandering around stinking up the NFL. Jerry has given us nothing over this time. We should be around 9 Super Bowl appearances, and 7 Super Bowl victories over that span of time. And before anyone says we'll win it next year, I'll say says who? We may not even make the playoffs next year, this is how the NFL works. If Murray leaves, and whatever runner can't carry the load and we're forced to win with Romo all the time, who knows what will happen.

Our time to win a Super Bowl was this year, and now we must sit here shamelessly watching a cheating franchise put us further in the rear view mirror. I'm at the point where I"m willing to sell my soul to get a Super Bowl ring. If we have to cheat, so be it.

The Patriots don't have more Super Bowls than us.

If the best defense the NFL has seen in at least a decade couldn't stop the Pats tonight, what makes you think our middle-of-the-pack defense could've?

Genuinely curious.

With a healthy Rolando and Melton? I like our chances.

But our defense was put together with duct tape by the end of the GB game. Romo and Co. wouldve had to play out of their mind to give us a shot...

And Seattle has the game in hand and gives it away with the worst play call in football history.

They only had the game in hand because of a fluke. Butler broke up that pass and it happened to land in the hands of the WR.

The one tough team they had to play in the postseason just gave them the victory. The Pats had lost it.

They outplayed Seattle for most of the game. If it wasn't for some mismatches with a guy who hadn't caught a pass all season, it wouldn't have been close.

The Packers or Cowboys would have beaten this team.
.

The Cowboys didn't beat the Packers, and even with "The Catch" there is no chance the defense would have stopped Rodgers with that much time left. Stop with the "We woulda" stuff.

Well, look at the bright side; Brady can't play forever, and Belichick can't coach forever, their dynasty will eventually be over, but you could feasibly have a kid in college that never knew the Patriots when they were a "bad" team; a 19 year run in the salary cap era is just insane. (yes, I count the Parcells-Bledsoe years as part of the dynasty)

No but the game was given to the Packers on a silver platter. The NFL had no rights to intervene with the game and it was a totally biased call. Obviously they didn't want the Cowboys to win for some reason and the NFL should be ashamed of themselves.

Lastly, to say that there was no chance that our defense could have stopped Rodgers is being a bit hypocritical.

You criticize those that say we were going to win that game if the catch happen. Well, saying that our defense would not have been able to stop Rogers anyways is just as ludicrous. We just don't know.

I blame the refs and the NFL to have screwed up that game. They had no rights at all overturning that play.

Though Seattle's man def was picked apart by Brady , it was the zone that gave him problems. So Marinelli would have played mostly zone. And if Cowboys control the clock by good running , it could have been possible. Sigh ! ....the Dez Catch !

Cool story bro

Except that our DBs have idea how to play zone

The homerism is strong in this thread... Disgustingly strong...

We had a pretty cupcake schedule as well...so let's not act like we played the 85 bears every week while the pats played the 08 lions...

Bottom line: if we deserved to win the super bowl, we would have won the super bowl. We had a good season but came up short against GB. We had plenty of opportunities in that game prior to the non-catch... Just like Detroit had plenty of opportunities prior to, and after the picked up penalty.

The best team in the NFL won this year. You see any objective parties claiming Dallas was the best team this year? Fans of 12 other teams could make cases that they could have beaten either team today - it's no different that our fans running their mouths about what another team accomplished while our team came up short.

Heck, might as well say that each year we made the playoffs "we should have won it all"

Pats won, and now Brady will be declared greatest QB of all time...it's already happening.

They were holding the Lombardi trophy last night ans we were not... That cannot be debated... They are champions.

No doubt would have loved a shot at Seahawks how we would have matched up to NE? Hard to say.

They couldn't get the Packers off the field for 4+ minutes after the play call, and they weren't even trying to score. There's no question in my mind Rodgers would have marched down the field again, just a matter if there was enough time left afterwards for Romo to try again.

I hope we never have to play Belichick/Brady in a Super Bowl. They've always fared well against us...it's the weird matchups like Ravens and Giants that give them trouble

The middle of the field would've been picked apart.

I don't care how good and/or smart Marinelli is, Dallas is soft as hell there.

Josh would've exposed that all day.

Sorry fellas. Dallas just didn't have the defense to win it this year, IMO.

Um, the Saints finished No. 1 in total offense, No. 2 in yards per possession, No. 5 in points per possession, No. 1 in plays per possession and No. 1 in drive success rate.

Even so, the Saints finished 7-9. It's not exactly like the Cowboys proved that much shutting them down. Six other teams did the same. So they're offense wasn't really all that. Besides, if you're behind and having to throw all the time, sure you're going to rack up yardage.

And the Colts sure intended to win until they started getting demolished. "Sleep walking" is just a nice post-mortem excuse.

All teams intend to win. But the Colts had already wrapped up the division and a playoff spot. They didn't have as much of a reason to play compared to the Cowboys.

Don't apologize for being wrong, it happens. To suggest that we didn't have the defense to win it this year, given that we were about one ball bounce away from putting the Packers away earlier, had the ball on the one foot line to beat them later, who turned around and basically dominated the Seahawks for 55 minutes, who turned around and had the Patriots beaten for all intents and purposes is...interesting. There is no way you could watch the playoffs this year and come away with the impression that we "just weren't good enough." You're simply biased from years of futility.
